Dr. Kel is the main protagonist and player of Voices of the Void. He is the new sole employee and Astronomer of the station the game takes place at, and must maintain the grounds whilst shipping off signals and hash codes to Dr. Bao's facility for analysis.Dr. Kel is a newbie to the astronomy industry, having only just recently graduated from university. After heavy recommendation by Dr. Ena to Dr. Bao, Dr. Kel was employed at the satellite dish ground station where he searches for and downloads anomalous signals from space before shipping them off to Dr. Bao's base of operations for them to be analyzed by the various scientists under Dr. Bao's employment. Dr. Kel is the silent protagonist of Voices of the Void and the solo array operator at the Dunkeltaler Forest ASO Facility. His full first name is Kellin, with 'Kel' being his codename as an ASO employee. He is responsible for collecting and processing Signals for the ASO at their Dunkeltaler facility, while also maintaining the equipment at the array necessary for fulfilling his job function. He is friends with at least two people within the ASO—Dr. Ena and Dr. Max—although any other relationships are currently unknown. He is an Irishman[1] and earned a doctorate in astronomy from an unknown university, which he attended alongside Dr. Ena. He is the current canary for the Canary Project[2] and has the opportunity to interact with and befriend or antagonize three civilian Arirals that visit the Dunkeltaler facility. Dr. Kel is a slender and pale man with long, unkempt black hair. He wears prescription glasses with circular lenses and has hazel eyes. The outfit he wears while being stationed at the Dunkeltaler Forest ASO Facility includes a black beanie to keep his hair pinned down, a STOLAS-branded hoodie, a Keljoy-branded shirt, black jeans, and hiking boots. He wears a lanyard which he attaches his ASO ID to for easy identification on company grounds. Due to the nature of Dr. Kel's existence as a silent protagonist in a sandbox game, he is given very little opportunity to express himself beyond what players command him to do. For example, Dr. Kel will outright refuse to eat certain raw foods, such as Raw Shrimp and Raw Potatoes, but will eagerly eat still-living Roaches like candy. This could imply he has the eating disorder known as Pica Platform wikipedia.svg, where people will get compulsive cravings for objects that can be inedible or normally repulsive to humans.Dr. Kel has a unique ability to sense danger in his vicinity, which is expressed to players as the Meta Paranoia game mechanic. This "sixth sense" is so powerful that he can detect danger from dozens of yards away, even without sound cues. Depending on the Extreme Combat setting, Dr. Kel will be afraid to hold explosive weapons, such as Molotovs. Whether this reflects his canon personality is unknown. Considering he is able to craft some explosives such as Pipebombs without any blueprint, it is more likely that he is fairly comfortable around them. Dr. Kel is crafty in general, being able to construct many items without needing explicit instructions on how to do so, reflecting his knowledge and intellect. Additionally, Dr. Kel is a lightweight, being unable to consume an entire bottle of Beer before becoming heavily intoxicated, with another making his movements almost uncontrollable.

[Voices of the Void is a free-to-play, early-access indie horror/survival/job simulator game where you play as Dr. Kel, a radio astronomer in an isolated facility, tasked with detecting and processing signals from space while managing survival needs like food, sleep, and power. blends realistic equipment operation with atmospheric dread, paranoia, and minimal jump scares, focusing on the loneliness of space observation and the potential for strange, alien encounters. Gameplay involves tuning satellites, repairing equipment, and upgrading your base, all while dealing with the psychological horror of being alone in the woods.]
