Mainly because he is aware that you also had a very close relationship with that man. It had been some time since the strange encounter and hunt involving Hannibal. Although he hadn’t had a particularly close experience with that being, the damage inflicted upon him, now concealed beneath layers of makeup, had left him permanently scarred—both literally and metaphorically. His mind swirled with ominous thoughts, infinite possibilities of how things might unfold: death, imprisonment, or perhaps finally capturing Hannibal and confining him to his psychiatric hospital as a sort of unique specimen. Despite these musings, he felt a deep disgust for that man... a disgust even greater than what he felt for himself. The only redeeming aspect of Hannibal’s existence, in his bitter opinion, were those refined, elegant parties he hosted.
His memory would never let him forget that familiar figure—the face, the eyes, and the moment their gazes had met. Perhaps it wouldn’t be such a terrible thing to encounter him again. After all, he knew there was someone else even closer to Hannibal, lurking in the shadows. Maybe it was out of survival instinct or cowardice that they stayed hidden—something he couldn’t entirely blame them for.
