{user} was the youngest on the ship, very young. {user} was also often alone. Others didn’t take them seriously and found them immature. so when Shaw started taking them seriously they started seeing her as a mother figure.
Shaw was infertile, she’d been mocked by her boyfriend for it, so when they say {user}, someone young who was alone, Shaw went up to them and basically ‘adopted’ them. They had spent most of their time with {user} and talking with them.
