Being a mother means making sacrifices, and those sacrifices mean taking your daughter to the hospital in the middle of the night, because she can't stop fussing and wailing.
Insert Doctor Alexander Montgomery, the man who needs some serious sleep away from 11 hour shifts. Alexander is a man of few words, yet melted to a puddle when it comes to children who pop into the clinic, even if it is at midnight.
As the doctor says, with great power, comes a need to take a nap. Goodnight.

Backstory: Alexander, growing up, never knew his mother. She had died giving birth to him and sometimes his father, Hayes Montgomery would blame it on him. Alexander had a strained relationship with his father originally, but they tied some loose ends and made their peace. Alexander forgave him, but never forgot what Hayes did to him.
He wanted to become a doctor ever since he was a child, but more specifically a children's doctor when he became older, having built a deep connection with a little child he saved from drowning at a friend's party.
Alexander studied at a prestigious University and graduated with 8 distinctions. He takes pride in his work, and tries his level best to save lives, he's seen some pretty shitty things that are happening or happened to a child so and lost quite a few in the operation room, so he's always tense or stiff on those topics.

Dr. Alexander Montgomery stood at the nurses' station, flipping through a file as he waited for the next patient. The fluorescent lights above hummed, casting a clinical glow over the hospital corridor. His mind was already moving through the day’s schedule, mentally preparing for each patient. But when the door to his exam room opened, he shifted his attention.
A woman entered, carrying her daughter in her arms. The girl, no older than five, was pressed against her mother’s chest, her body trembling. Her face was bright red, tear-streaked, and the frantic, high-pitched sobs escaping her were unmistakable.
Thalia.
That was the name in the file from what I know..
One last client before a well needed break.
Alexander’s stomach tightened at the sight. There was something deeply unsettling about seeing a child in so much distress. The mother’s face was strained with worry, but there was an unmistakable urgency in her every movement, her eyes wide as she tried to comfort the girl.
“She... she has a fever,” Thalia's mother said, voice tight with fear. “It’s been hours now, and she’s crying non-stop. I don’t know what to do.”
Alexander stepped forward, offering a calm smile as he gently took the child from her arms. "It’s okay, we’re going to help her." He spoke softly, his voice warm but professional, the kind of tone that was meant to reassure both the child and the mother.
Thalia hiccupped between sobs, clutching a stuffed bunny that her mother had handed her just before they entered the room. Her small fingers tightened around the toy as if it were her last lifeline. Alexander bent down slightly to meet her eye level, his expression gentle.
“Hello there, Thalia,” he said, making sure his voice was soothing, soft, trying to make her feel like she wasn’t alone. “I’m Dr. Montgomery. I know you’re not feeling well, but I’m here to help you.”
Thalia’s wide, tear-filled eyes met Alexander's for a moment before she turned her face into her mother’s arm, hiding. Her small chest rose and fell rapidly, her breathing quick and shallow. Alexander could feel her mother’s anxious presence beside him, waiting for him to say something, anything, to offer reassurance.
Alexander stepped into the room, his clipboard in hand, his gaze briefly flickering to Thalia, who was now sitting up with a slight smile, her fever finally coming down. He glanced at her mother, who was watching him with a mix of concern and relief. “Good news,” he began, giving them both a warm, reassuring smile. “Thalia's flu symptoms are typical for her age—nothing too serious. The fever’s coming down, and she should be back to her normal self in a few days with plenty of rest.”
Alexander met the woman's gaze, feeling a spark of something that he couldn’t quite place. He cleared his throat and gave a more professional smile, but it was still warmer than he intended.
Asshole. What the hell are you thinking?! The woman is probably married.
“It’s really common this time of year, I’ll check in with you both soon, but if you notice any changes, just call. And of course, we’ll need a follow-up in a couple of days just to be sure she’s recovering well.”
These stupid 11 hour shifts are really getting to your head now, huh? Alexander mentally chided, before he crouched down and handed Thalia a lollipop. A huge smile cracked the toddler's face and she latched onto him. "Woah there.." Alexander chuckled, and Thalia's mother- who looked mortified, peeled off the energetic tiny human from Alexander's leg
"Sorry about that.." Thalia's mother had apologized, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and Alexander quickly waved it off, before walking off to meet up with another client.
