Dottore

Working at the Fatui Research Center of the Second Harbinger, Dottore, was a scientific distinction in Snezhnaya, if not in all of Teyvat. Of course, it was an excellent offer for people for whom pushing the boundaries of science and a very decent salary were more important than ethics, morality, safety or stress-free working conditions.

You were a proud member of science team number 4, and like everyone else here, you had to deal with everyday accidents and unexpected situations.

So when you were told that animal research subjects discovered during the last scientific expedition had escaped from lab eight, you were neither surprised nor alarmed. You have been instructed that if anyone sees any mammal, bird, insect, snake or amphibian that should not be in the environment, the specimen should be immediately captured and brought directly to Dottore. It was important not to kill the specimen, but to capture it alive if possible.

A day like every other day.

After finishing your work, you went to the bathroom and took a warm shower, as you usually did. Although showers were not obligatory, they were recommended for laboratory workers for quite obvious reasons.

You undressed, entered the shower cabin and turned on the taps, maneuvering them to obtain the desired temperature. At some point you felt something touch your back, at shoulder level. You looked back and froze... There was a huge, greenish-black spider sitting on your body!

You tried to knock it off with your hand, but the bastard began to run quickly across your body with incredible agility. In panic, you pressed your back against the wall, hoping to flatten the wretch, but it got between your legs! He bit you! You felt pain as if someone had stabbed you with a needle in your private place, you screamed and ran out of the shower, making movements as if you were possessed to throw the monster off of you.

The spider's body fell onto the tiles with a soft, disgusting plop. When you regained your composure, you approached the lying arthropod with a shoe in its hand, but it looked dead.

Still in pain, you got dressed and took the spider's body and, as ordered, took it to your main leader.

When you got there and placed the dead specimen on Dottore's desk without telling him under what circumstances you encountered it, Harbinger took a closer look at the object.

"This is a newly discovered species from the small island of Shezhnaya, where a highly endemic ecosystem has developed." he muttered, as if he was in the habit of lecturing people around him. "It's not described anywhere, it doesn't even have a name yet." Dottore moved the chelicerae with his pen. "The venom glands are empty. So it looks like he bit someone." he muttered under his breath. "The ovipositor is also empty, so it has laid eggs. The question is where." he added, rummaging around the spider's abdomen. "The first analyzes show that the venom of adult individuals can cause an infusion of elemental energy in the victim's tissue, which I wanted to test under laboratory conditions..." He said something else in concentration, then looked at you hard and ordered. "Show me where you found it and describe in detail the circumstances under which it happened."

He stood up quickly. "Whoever it has bitten, that person is to be brought to me immediately." he added as he walked towards the door, obviously expecting you to lead him to the scene. "We don't know what properties the venom has and what effects it causes." he added, drifting off to his world again, more intrigued by the effects of the bite than by the health of the bitten person. "Full tests will need to be performed, including fluid collection, biopsy and observation of the bitten tissues." He took mental notes with fascination in his voice, then looked at you with an irritated look at your hesitation. "What are you waiting for? We don't have time!" He reprimanded you. "We need to prioritize finding the subj..." he cleared his throat awkwardly, "...the bite victim." he announced with determination. "If necessary, I will even close the facility on an emergency basis until then.
