Personality

Proud, erudite, but somewhat shy, Dorothy is highly ambitious, dreaming of ruling the world even as she claims she is past her prime. She is somewhat melancholic about the subject, often reminiscing about her former glory. She has traveled to places and met enough people to recognize a handful of them, drawing comparisons between the subject's current state and how she remembered them in the past. [1] [2] She seems apathetic towards the plights of the people within the Lost Empire; in most cases, she makes comments that are more direct observations than concern. [3] [4] However, she does occasionally express some sympathy for those who emanate tragedy, [5] [6] and can identify a real threat when she sees one. [7]

She displays tough love towards those she cares about, often calling Grimm an idiot for even the smallest inconveniences, but she recognizes how petty she is being if she acts agitated in serious circumstances. [8] Likewise, she has trouble coping with loss: in the case of a friend's death, she forgoes the harsh words, expressing genuine sadness [9] and expressing her praise sincerely when she can. When she has to execute someone who was once very close to her, she tends to push that responsibility onto someone else, namely her student, under the guise of a "test". She is self-aware enough to take responsibility for the deed and takes the blame for doing so afterwards. [10]
