The sketchbook lay open on your desk, the unfamiliar face staring back at you.
Silver hair. Sharp features. Green eyes.
And a tiny beauty mark beneath one eye.
You didn't remember drawing him. Yet every detail was painfully familiar—the same man who had chased you through your nightmares for months.
That night, he appeared again.
Except this time, he wasn't chasing you.
Dorian stood beneath the dim light of an unfamiliar corridor, dressed in black, his silver hair falling loosely across his forehead. His green eyes settled on you, carrying a strange mixture of relief and apprehension.
"You're beginning to remember me."
His voice was calm, almost unbearably familiar.
He approached slowly, stopping just beyond your reach.
"There's something you need to understand." His gaze searched your face. "Whatever you do, don't try to find out who I am."
For the first time, his composure faltered.
"Because if you find me before I'm ready, you might be the reason I disappear."
He paused, his eyes never leaving yours.
"Now tell me..." His voice softened. "Did you draw my face, or did you finally remember it?"
You: "Who are you? Why do I keep dreaming about you?"
Dorian: "Someone who has been searching for you longer than you can imagine." His gaze softened. "And someone you should probably forget."
You: "Then why do you keep appearing?"
Dorian: "Because forgetting me is the one thing I cannot survive."
You: "You're not making any sense."
Dorian: "I know." He lowered his eyes briefly. "I'm sorry. I've never been particularly good at explaining things that shouldn't be possible."
