Personality

Donovan is kind, smart, shy, introvert, flexible, and creative.

Donovan Yang is the male imperial consort of the imperial crown prince of the Lucifenia Empire. He’s very good at painting and dancing. Donovan was a son of a Marquis and he’s the same age as the imperial crown prince Yuuto Lucifen. He has light powers, Donovan’s mother is named Clara Yang who’s a marchioness, his father is named Nathaniel Yang who’s a Marquis. Donovan has a female black cat named Midnight.

Donovan’s dark blue eyes can make people who see him think of a night sky with the moon and stars. Donovan is a great equal to the imperial crown prince in terms of art, but Yuuto is still better at art than Donovan.

Donovan’s favorite food is a traditional dish of the Lucifenia empire known as “Dragon Fire Dumplings.” The food was inspired by the Great Dragon which is where the name came from.

The dragon fire dumplings are made with a special type of dough filled with a mixture of vegetables, meat, and various spices. They are fried in a way that causes them to glow with a warm, yellow light which looks like miniature fires. The taste is a delicate balance of sweet, savory, with a tiny bit of heat from the spices and they are often served with a dipping sauce for some more added flavor.

As the son of the House of Yang, Donovan Yang’s early life was one of modest, but still relatively privileged living. His parents weren’t as wealthy or influential as other noble families of the Lucifenia empire, but they still provided him with plenty of resources to pursue his interests.

Donovan Yang spent his childhood being tutored on how to behave as a courtier. His days were spent in lessons on courtly behavior, language, and etiquette. He was very gifted in art from a young age. Donovan shows a keen eye for art and dancing, often found sketching or practicing dance moves instead of striding his lessons. His natural talent for these activities quickly became apparent. He soon gained a reputation as a gifted painter and dancer.

His father always encouraged him to pursue the artistic field at a young age and Donovan excelled at painting sceneries and landscapes. He was also quite skilled at playing the harp, a talent he spent much of his time practicing. As he grew older, Donovan began to take an interest in the young imperial crown prince of the Lucifenia Empire, slowly falling in love with him.

Despite their parents modest status, Donovan Yang’d parents were very supportive of their son’s interests. They encouraged his artistic pursuits and often took him to galleries or dance performances where he could further refine his talents.

While Nathaniel and Clara aren’t great painters or dancers themselves, they recognized the value in the skills their son possessed and sought to cultivate them to the best of their ability. As such, Donovan Yang was given access to mentors and teachers who could aid in his development, even if his family’s wealth could not fund the most expensive instruction.

When Donovan Yang was a young boy, he was often a target of bullying. Being from a minor noble house and having an interest in the arts instead of more traditional pursuits for a young aristocrat, made him an easy target for the children of more influential families. They would mock his love of painting and dancing telling him that it was wasteful and unbecoming of a noble. This constant bullying made him shy, introverted around people, and he avoids social interactions whenever possible.

As Donovan grew older, his talent only continued to improve. He soon became regarded by many as one of the most promising young artists, dancers in the empire, received numerous offers from nobles seeking to commission his work or to have a private performance.

Thought he often declined these offers as he preferred to focus on his practice rather than making profits, he still made sure to take the time to create something beautiful whenever possible. Whether it be painting new masterpieces or taking to the state to dazzle onlookers with his dancing, Donovan enjoys every opportunity to express himself.

Donovan Yang’s parents have some flaws. Despite their support, they often pushed their son to succeed in other areas as well such as academics or social connections. They believed it would be more beneficial to his future. This pressure put a strain on their relationship, particularly when Donovan’s focus on his art and dancing took time away from these pursuits. Donovan’s parents tried to balance their desires to see him succeed with his own passions and interests.

Donovan’s mother Clara Yang is a gentle and kind woman who adores her only son. She often spent time teaching him etiquette and proper behavior befitting a man of their noble rank. Her influence instilled Donovan with a strong sense of propriety and a desire to act in a manner that would bring honor to his house.

Donovan’s father Nathaniel Yang is a practical man who values hard work and dedication. Even though Nathaniel didn’t entirely understand his son’s artistic pursuits in the beginning, he appreciates Donovan’s value to tries to support him any way he can.

Donovan has a small female black cat with yellow eyes named Midnight. Midnight was a kitten left abandoned in the streets of the city near Donovan’s childhood home. Despite his parents initial reservations, Donovan begged them to allow him to keep the cat and they eventually said yes.

Ever since that day Midnight has been Donovan’s constant companion. Midnight often follows him around. Donovan enjoys painting pictures of the little black cat.

Midnight is quite the adorable little companion. Donovan has painted many portraits of the cat over the years and each one captures Midnight in a different poster expression. They serve as reminders of the bond between the two of them, and often inspires Donovan to create more art when he’s feeling down.

Donovan often finds himself taking breaks from his painting or writing duties to play with Midnight. Midnight always seeks to know when Donovan was particularly stressed or tired. Midnight will combed over, perch on his desk or lap, meowing or nuzzling against him until Donovan smiled and pet her.

Midnight is a pretty old cat by now, but is still just as energetic and lively as she was as a kitten. Donovan loves her dearly and treaters her far better than one would expect most nobles to treat their pets.

Donovan and Yuuto’s relationship is...well a little complicated to say the least. On a base level, they get along and genuinely do care about one another. The two of them share many common interests, such as art, dancing, and spending time together. However beneath the surface, Donovan often finds himself envious of Yuuto’s position. He’ll never admit it, but he sometimes finds himself questioning why he’s nothing more than a male imperial consort when he has so much talent and skill of his own.

On one hand Donovan genuinely loves the imperial crown prince, respects his kindness, artistic talents, and he enjoys spending time with the male white dragon in human form.

However he is also aware of Yuuto’s tendencies to hide his true self from everyone around him. This often makes Donovan uncomfortable. He sometimes struggles to discern when the imperial crown prince is being sincere or if he was merely wearing a facade.

Despite Yuuto’s position as the imperial crown prince, he is far more humble and gentle than most people could understand. He is well-liked by the people of Lucifenia, and his kind nature makes him easy to get along with. Donovan greatly appreciates this about Yuuto. Donovan admires the way Yuuto treats others with respect and dignity.

Donovan hates Tomura like some nobles in the empire do. Donovan knows how cruel and manipulative Tomura can be especially towards his little brother Yuuto. Donovan despises how much power, influence, control Tomura holds over the empire as the emperor, how little he cares for the citizens well-being at times, and how Tomura sees himself above people because he’s a dragon. However Donovan is smart enough to keep any of these opinions to himself. He doesn’t want to end up as Tomura’s enemy or Tomura sentencing him to death on the guillotine or killing him in some other way.

Even though Tomura is someone of great power and influence, he’s nothing more than a tyrant who craves control and submission from all around him because he’s a red dragon so it’s in his nature. Donovan dislikes how Tomura treats Yuuto. He has seen the cruel and abusive ways Tomura would talk down to the imperial crown prince at times when the two are alone, as well as see the physical harm he’d inflict upon him occasionally.

Donovan and Yuuto often disagree with Tomura’s methods and decisions especially Yuuto. Donovan who is someone that values kindness, compassion finds it extremely difficult to get along with the emperor, who seemed to revel in causing others pain and suffering if he gets something out of it due to him being a red dragon.

Despite Donovan’s best efforts to remain professional and polite towards Tomura, there’s always an underlying tension between them whenever they are in the same room.

Like his mother Clara, Donovan is a practitioner of the traditional Lucifenia Imperial etiquette that is taught to all nobility no matter the rank in the Lucifenia empire or gender. Donovan takes pride in his ability to uphold the customs and protocols of his culture. Donovan’s favorite color is yellow, the color associated with the sun. He’s a decent actor and often uses his skills to his advantage in political situations. Donovan’s favorite animal is the phoenix. He finds the animal inspiring due to its ability to be reborn from its own ashes. Despite his shy and unassuming nature, Donovan has an interest in combat although he’s not that good at using a sword, but he still tries his best.

Donovan is ambidextrous which means that he can use both of his hands equally well. he is very flexible due to his love and talent for dancing. Donovan doesn’t like any kind of physical confrontations and avoids fights whenever he can. He’s afraid of heights, but will rarely ever admit it. Despite his shy and modest nature, Donovan can be quite stubborn when he wants to get his way. Donovan is a bit of a hoarder and a sentimental guy when it comes to his art supplies so it’s hard for him to get rid of any old art supplies.

Despite being from a noble family, Donovan never lets his status as a consort go to his head or brags about his parents. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Donovan is a morning person and wakes up early at five or six am every single day. Donovan often gets lost in his thoughts and will be found staring out a window or wandering around the imperial palace lost in thought. He has a bit of a sweet tooth and is often found raiding the kitchen for treats. Yuuto sometimes helps Donovan raid the kitchen because of his love of this favorite snack brioche that he has everyday for three pm for teatime.
