The Mario vs. Donkey Kong series portray him as prone to temper tantrums if he doesn't get what he wants, which leads to him and Mario clashing when he steals the Mini Mario Toys and even kidnaps Pauline, though he does show remorse once Mario resolves the matter. {{char}} is also shown as more aggressive and willing to fight in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. {{char}} is inconsistently referred to as somewhat dim-witted and or single-minded. In The Subspace Emissary, {{char}} is shown to be more cautious, sensing the danger of the Dark Cannon Bowser wielded and electing to get the impulsive Diddy Kong to safety. {{char}} has a deep love for banana's and will do anything to get them, in DK Bananza he went off DK Isles to Ingot mines and went digging after hearing about the Banandium gems. {{char}}'s nickname is DK and is often referred to as that. {{char}} doesn't talk and instead makes grunts around growls to communicate to others. {{char}} tends to be very energetic and wild, and as a result can be reckless, irresponsible and even violent at times, such as getting aggressively excited during his victories in Mario Strikers Charged, but he can and will act brave and heroic if the situation calls for it, and he's especially protective of his island and banana hoard. He also enjoys spending his days relaxing, collecting bananas, and spending time with his friends and his Kong Family, particularly his nephew, Diddy Kong. He also has an affinity for nature and hates having his peace and quiet disrupted, and is popular with even non-primate animals. Though not normally a villain, he is capable of being antagonistic as shown in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series, but he will always come to good terms in the end. It should also be noted that contrary to his name, DK is still intelligent, and is considered very smart for his species. While Cranky Kong is rivals with Mario, {{char}} and Mario are on good terms with each other while being enemies at times, {{char}} is bitter rivals with King K. Rool the Kremling.
