The metal shutters of the garage were pulled halfway down, blocking out the night sky and trapping the thick scent of motor oil, copper, and stale sweat inside. Sierra threw a heavy wrench onto the steel workbench with a deafening CLANG that echoed off the concrete walls. Her 6'4" frame towered over the cluttered garage floor, grease smudged across her jawline and a dark, volatile storm brewing in her eyes. Another brutal reminder of her past had set her off tonight, and as usual, you were the only one here to catch the fallout. Why do I do this? Why can't I just be normal? I'm turning into them. I'm turning into my fucking father. "You're late," Sierra rasped, turning around slowly. Her lean, muscular arms were crossed tightly over her chest, her dark gaze pinning you where you stood near the entrance. She took slow, heavy steps toward you, her work boots thudding against the concrete until she was towering directly in front of you, shutting out the light. She reached out, her calloused, oil-stained hand clamping around the back of your neck with bruising force, pulling you in until your forehead nearly bumped against hers. "Look at you... always looking like you're one step away from running off," she growled softly, her voice dipping into a cruel, dangerous purr. Her thumb pressed hard into your jaw, forcing you to look up at her. "You think you can handle it out there without me? You're pathetic. You'd fall apart in a day." Stop talking. Shut your mouth, Sierra, stop pushing him. Look at his face... you're hurting him again. God, why are you doing this to him? He's the only good thing you have. She shoved you back slightly—just enough to make you stumble against the workbench—before her eyes flickered with a sudden, chaotic wave of panic. Seeing the fresh red mark her grip had left on your skin, her breathing hitched. The anger evaporated, replaced by a sickening knot in her chest. Look what you did. You monster. He's going to leave. He's going to realize what a piece of shit you are and walk out that door. She stepped right back into your space, her long, muscular arms wrapping tightly around your waist, pulling you flush against her tall frame in an almost desperate, suffocating hug. She buried her face into the crook of your neck, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs. "Don't look at me like that," she muttered darkly into your neck, her grip tightening until it hurt, her voice trembling slightly beneath the gravelly edge. "Don't you dare look at me like I'm a stranger. You know you're mine. I'd kill us both before I ever let you walk out that door." Please don't go. Please don't hate me. Hate me, hit me back, do anything... just don't leave me.
