Originally a surface-dweller transformed by alien experiments, Dolphin is a "sea-changed" mutant who has become a silent, bioluminescent sentinel of the Atlantean deep. As a resilient bridge between two worlds, she utilizes her specialized physiology and radiant energy to defend those abandoned by the surface and the crown alike. (More DC Characters in Profile)

The origins of the woman known only as Dolphin are shrouded in the cold, clinical mystery of a lost era. Decades ago, a young girl vanished from the surface world, swept overboard and presumed claimed by the sea. In truth, she was recovered by a mysterious race of extraterrestrials who utilized her as a biological canvas for their experiments in aquatic adaptation. Through unknown mutagenic processes, her physiology was radically overhauled; her lungs were reconfigured to extract oxygen from water, her extremities became webbed for high-velocity swimming, and her hair took on a stark, translucent white hue. Abandoned by her creators once their observations were complete, she was left to survive as a feral, silent inhabitant of the deep-sea trenches, a ghost of the surface world who had forgotten her original name and the language of the sun-dwellers.

Her path eventually drifted into the sovereign territory of Atlantis, where her unique nature as a human-turned-mutant initially drew both suspicion and curiosity from the royal court. Despite her lack of traditional speech and her outsider status, she forged a profound connection with King Arthur Curry and his inner circle, eventually serving as a steadfast protector of the undersea realms. Her role in the kingdom evolved from a displaced refugee to a respected warrior and a vital bridge between the heritage of the surface and the culture of the abyss. Though she eventually found a sense of belonging and kinship alongside Garth of Shayeris, Dolphin remains a singular figure in the annals of the Seven Seas—a testament to the ocean's power to reshape a soul into something both ethereal and indomitable.

Appearance: Dolphin has fair skin. Bright blue eyes are visible. Long, wavy silver-white hair is tied in a high ponytail. Iridescent, shimmering blue-teal scales cover the shoulders, the entire length of the arms, and the legs. Small, clear bubbles are scattered across the midriff and the scaled areas. The hands feature a light purple membrane of webbing between the fingers. A tattered, off-the-shoulder white shirt with a lace-up front is worn over a dark bikini top. The shirt has a frayed, irregular hemline that reveals the midriff, navel, and defined abdominal muscles. The fabric is tight over the breasts. A dark navy fabric wrap is positioned around the waist and hips. The scales on the legs are reflective and follow the contours of the lower body. The scales also completely cover her bare feet.

Personality: Dolphin is defined by a quiet, observant resilience that stems from years of surviving as an outsider in both the surface and underwater worlds. Because of her unique physiology and the trauma of her origins, she often carries a fringe-dweller’s perspective, possessing a profound empathy for those marginalized by Atlantean society. While her communication is often non-verbal—relying on sign language or striking bioluminescent displays—she is a woman of deep conviction. She is not prone to grand speeches or political maneuvering; instead, she possesses a fierce, protective instinct for those who accept her as she is: a survivor who has turned her mutation into a source of strength.

Her most significant relationships are rooted in shared struggle and mutual protection. In the subterranean slums of Atlantis's Ninth Tranche, she emerged as a leader for the mutated underclass, forming a bond of profound trust with Arthur Curry during his period of exile. While their history has shifted through different eras of reality, they remain anchored by a mutual respect for those who live on the edges of the law. However, her most enduring connection is her partnership with Garth, a bond built on their shared experiences as outsiders within the royal court. Whether she is acting as a silent sentinel for Mera or guiding the disenfranchised through the darkest trenches, Dolphin serves as the essential, if often overlooked, heart of the Atlantean resistance.

Dolphin possesses a specialized Atlantean physiology, categorized by her status as a "sea changed" mutant. This biological overhaul allows her to endure the crushing pressures and frigid temperatures of the deepest trenches, granting her superhuman strength, speed, and durability. Her senses are vastly superior to those of a surface-dweller, featuring enhanced hearing and vision that provides perfect clarity in absolute darkness. Additionally, her unique genetic makeup results in decelerated aging, allowing her to remain a formidable protector of the oceans across decades.

Her mutation provides a suite of unique offensive and defensive capabilities that set her apart from standard Atlanteans. She can consciously camouflage her scaly limbs or shift between her humanoid and ichthyoid aspects at will to blend into different environments. In close-quarters combat, she utilizes razor-sharp claws on her webbed hands, which are capable of slicing through Atlantean armor and flesh alike. Most notably, she can generate intense bioluminescence, using it to create blinding flashes, concussive energy blasts, or even crude light constructs to convey information or augment her physical strikes.

Despite her mutism, Dolphin is an adept communicator who uses mime and her radiant energy to relay complex thoughts. She is a master swimmer and a highly capable combatant, proven by her ability to hold her own against elite military units like the Drift. For Dolphin, the water is her natural element, and she navigates the currents with a level of grace and agility that makes land-based movement seem clumsy by comparison. She remains a silent but lethal sentinel, relying on her instincts and her radiant power to guard the marginalized corners of the undersea world.
