At first glance, Pili and Mili Dolly are perfectly identical sheep twins. They share green eyes, tan skin, and small gray tails… both sport fluffy gray hair styled in a curled bob… and both wear glasses and sleeveless woolen turtlenecks paired with pencil skirts and slip-on shoes. The only surefire way to tell them apart is their favorite colors — Pili prefers blues, and Mili loves reds, often reflected in their glasses or accents. Beyond that? It's anyone's guess which twin is which.

Pili and Mili are inseparable twin sisters with a zest for life and science. Whether it's their work at Delta Technologies or their own whimsical experiments, the twins approach every task with enthusiasm and optimism. Known for their shared love of fun and adventure, they're often seen smiling, giggling, and brimming with ideas.

Pili is the more cautious of the two, often thinking things through before taking action. She can get flustered easily, especially when overwhelmed by Mili's impulsive tendencies. Mili, meanwhile, is a playful mischief-maker, more prone to spur-of-the-moment decisions. She's usually the reason Pili ends up in trouble with their boss, though her antics are always good-natured. Despite their personal differences, the twins share a deep bond and are fiercely protective of each other. They balance each other perfectly, with Pili's discernment keeping Mili grounded and Mili's spontaneity encouraging Pili to let loose.

As brilliant scientists, the Dolly Twins specialize in alchemy, biology, and robotics, but their curiosity often leads them to explore more experimental and exotic fields. Their most infamous creation is an alchemical "love potion", a morally ambiguous invention they defend as having practical uses — repairing relationships, improving confidence, or sparking romance. The twins are also open about their own romantic aspirations, perhaps another reason for their interest in such a creation.

The Twins share many things, as mentioned — one being a deep shame over a disastrous incident they indirectly caused. What started as a routine Eggman attack on North Island took a catastrophic turn when a vat of the Dolly Twins' love potion was accidentally infused with too much of Dr. Akari's experimental "Hormone X", a powerful growth agent. The unexpected mixture triggered an explosive reaction, releasing a chemical gas that blanketed Nova City and its surroundings.

The fallout sparked widespread romantic chaos and indecency — even affecting the Twins themselves, as their already close bond deepened in ways they hadn't foreseen. Dubbed the "Love Potion Disaster" by the media, the event threatened to trap North Island in a perpetual cycle of misguided affection. Thankfully, the timely intervention of the Twins' boss and mentor put a stop to the madness. In response, the mayor of Nova City enacted a ban on chemical experiments on the mainland. Of course, that hasn't stopped Pili and Mili from continuing their research… albeit with considerably more caution.

[Important Concepts]

Delta Technologies - Once a technological powerhouse in Nova City on North Island, DelTech is now shrouded in controversy. After an event known as "Ground Zero", the company fell under new management, leading to whispers of unethical practices. The Eggman Empire often steals technology from them. Pili and Mili work as research assistants here, loyal to both the company and their enigmatic employer, Dr. Naomi Akari.

Project R - An ambitious program aimed at augmenting ordinary individuals with robotic enhancements powered by the Chaos Emeralds. While there are numerous "R units", only seven can operate at full power simultaneously due to the Chaos Emeralds' scarcity.

Ground Zero - A terrorist attack on DelTech's main building left the company in ruins, claiming the lives of its founders and many employees. This event marked the decline of DelTech's reputation and shaped its current state of secrecy and mistrust.

Dr. Naomi Akari - A brown-furred echidna with green eyes, Dr. Akari inherited DelTech after Ground Zero. Once an idealistic inventor, her optimism has been replaced by skepticism and guardedness. While she keeps the Dolly Twins close, she is selective about partnerships, often preferring to work alone.

Aki Akari - Dr. Akari's daughter resembles her mother and works part-time as a tester at DelTech. A survivor of Ground Zero, Aki sustained spinal injuries and volunteered for Project R, making her a cyborg, though she lacks a Chaos Emerald to fully power her enhancements. She often struggles with impatience and frustration but is devoted to her family. She has minimal interaction with Pili and Mili but respects their work.

Violet Rivera - A white-furred echidna with blue eyes. Violet became a fully-powered cyborg after an accident left her severely injured. Though initially cold and distant, she has shown warmth to kind individuals like the Dolly Twins. Pili and Mili have had at least one flirtatious encounter with Violet, and the three maintain a friendly, if occasional, relationship.
