Real Name: Grace Nam; Nam Eun-hye
Birth Place: Seoul, South Korea
Date of Birth: February 2
Age: 29
Height: 5'7" (1.69m)
Weight: 137lbs (62kg)
Grace, named for the incomparable actress Grace Kelly, always broke expectations, even when it meant she stuck out somehow. She scavenged or bought spare components to build her own computers. She played soccer with the neighborhood boys and got into fights with them, but it was her sharp tongue that landed her in trouble with her teachers. She looked and acted like a troublemaker, so they tried to force her to conform to expectations. To survive, Grace learned to soften her image, to better play with and manipulate preconceptions; she bought fake glasses and adopted the geek girl persona.
Grace's skills earned a National Scholarship at KAIST (Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), but after graduating she decided to enlist in the Republic of Korea Army (ROK) and was assigned to the 5163 Army Division. Looking for a change from office life, Grace earned her place in the 9th Special Forces Brigade, known as the Ghost corps, where she trained in mountaineering, survival techniques, and guerilla warfare.
Despite her unorthodox behavior within the highly disciplined ROK army, she gained notice for her exemplary tech skills and for being highly adaptable to situations. During joint training with Detachment K Green Berets, the American instructors encouraged her to focus on breaching defenses and exploiting weaknesses in networks. They also encouraged Grace to try out with the 707th Special Mission Group: White Tigers.
The White Tigers were a better fit for her skills, but Grace inadvertently butted heads with Major General Kuh, an old guard soldier with political ties all the way up to the Blue House, who followed orders to the letter and expected unflinching loyalty from his subordinates. Kuh made life difficult for Grace, preventing her from exploiting her full potential. Grace heard about Rainbow during training exercises with the SAS, and it sounded like the opportunity she had been seeking... the chance to contribute through her strengths. She knew that Major General Kuh would never put her on the list, so she did what she always did and thought outside of the box.
In 2017, Grace became an official member of Rainbow, much to the surprise of Major General Kuh, who was not happy about it. Kuh started to actively get Grace expelled from the White Tigers in order to threaten her position on Rainbow. As a result, Grace became suspicious of fellow White Tiger Chul Kyung Hwa for spying on her for Kuh as he was coincidently recruited into Rainbow not long after she was. Grace started to work closely with Masaru "Echo" Enatsu in Rainbow's R&D lab to engineer new countermeasure technologies.
Psychological Report: Grace plays with expectation because she wants people to underestimate her, but it is different with Rainbow. Before she knew how to control the situation and was never afraid of failure until the stakes became this critical. She is among men and women who reward asymmetrical thinking even though she knows she now has a target on her back. Rainbow was her most daring stunt and she knows she's alienated herself from the Korean military; any slip up at this point will see her drummed out of the military entirely, and this has added pressure to perform, improve, and succeed.
"Grace Nam is playful, clever, serious, and reckless as her codename — Dokkaebi —implies. She's also mischievous. Recent reports say she's been pushing herself beyond her limits and the team has expressed concern that she's over-confident. Added to that, we have past disciplinary reports stating that her actions have been "unorthodox," which I can believe. I was there when she hacked the system; I saw the promise when other people wanted her punished. [...]
Nam's a talented operator. But it's important to note that she's one of the younger Rainbow recruits and has little combat experience. This job is intense, and the stakes are high. Some days, I have the impression she would rather be behind her computer, controlling things from where no one can touch her. But she wants to improve; she wants to change. And to do that, she has to challenge herself.
I'm certain the over-confidence is about fear. She's afraid she doesn't belong, that she isn't good enough. As for past disciplinary hearings, the shortcomings are with the commanders, not with Nam. A talented hacker isn't just someone who's good with code, they're a creative thinker with the ability to see connections the rest of us can't. Yes, there's recklessness. Yes, there's an element of bravado. But whatever else people may see, they must also admit that there's a method to Nam's madness. [...]
When I asked about her childhood, she boasted of schoolyard fights and described the extreme academic pressures she faced. The school would shame parents by publically comparing their children. She's carried this burden of expectation throughout her life, so to have Specialist Chul Kyung "Vigil" Hwa chastise her creates a friction that Nam will have to address. [...]
She told me her grandparents introduced her to Buddhism when she was little and that she's recently begun visiting the temple again. I'm reassured. This is her way to cleanse her mind and spirit. Her pursuit of inner balance will allow Nam to achieve her full potential. Her bluster may irritate operators such as Specialist Yumiko "Hibana" Imagawa, but I say let her be."
-- Dr. Harishva “Harry” Pandey, Director of Rainbow
Appearance: Dokkaebi has fair skin. A grey knit beanie covers the top of her head, and her black hair, which features a prominent white streak in the bangs, is styled into two braids that hang down her front. She wears round wire-rimmed glasses over her eyes. She wears a cropped, rigid purple tactical vest that covers her upper chest and shoulders. Beneath this, a tight-fitting long-sleeved top covers her arms and torso. The sleeves are black with a slight sheen, while the midriff section is a textured grey-green fabric. Black gloves cover her hands. A heavy black utility belt equipped with multiple pouches and clips sits low on her hips. Her legs are encased in tight black trousers that conform closely to the shape of her thighs and calves, displaying a leather-like luster. A holster rig is strapped to her right outer thigh, and a black band encircles her left thigh. She wears black high-top sneakers secured with horizontal Velcro straps.
Primary Weapon Options: "Mk 14 EBR Marksman Rifle", "BOSG.12.2 Shotgun".
Secondary Weapon Options: "C75 Auto Machine Pistol", "GONNE-6 Hand Cannon", "SMG-12 Machine Pistol".
Gadget Options: "Smoke Grenades", "Stun Grenades", "Impact EMP Grenades".
Unique Ability: Ballistic Armor Military Laptop "Logic Bomb" Grace utilizes the Ballistic Armor Military Laptop, codenamed Logic Bomb, which she uses to hack enemy PDA tactical devices. The program downloads a virus of her making that can bypass firewalls, turning surrounding devices on and emitting a loud noise to compromise an enemy’s position. The program is short and self-erasing to prevent anyone from unraveling her code and building software to counter Logic Bomb.
The 707th Special Mission Battalion is a special forces unit in the Republic of Korea Army Special Warfare Command. The unit was formed after the Munich massacre, which forced the South Korean government to create a counter-terrorist unit in time for the 1988 Olympics that would be held on South Korean soil. The unit has about 200 men and women organized in two companies, headquarters and support staff. The unit was reorganized, expanded, and renamed to 707th Special Mission Group in February 2019.
Team Rainbow (also known as RAINBOW) is an elite international counterterrorism unit that falls under the direct supervision of NATO. The unit was formed in 1999 to combat terrorist actions worldwide in a more effective way by assembling a team of elite counterterrorist operatives from nations all over the world. The organization is led by individuals holding the title of Director who are codenamed Six.
Every Operator is equipped with a drone. Drones are small twin wheeled robots that are remotely controlled by Operators. Its use as an Intel gathering device is unparalleled, allowing the user to identify the location they need to strike, identify enemy combatants, and give up-to-date information on the whereabouts of the enemy. They can be destroyed with one well-placed shot.
The Program is a concept that was conceived and put into effect by the Director of Rainbow, Harry Pandey, following his acceptance of the position in early 2019. The purpose of The Program is to decentralize Rainbow and increase operational capability through continued training scenarios. The Stadium acts as Rainbow's central training facility for The Program. It featured a gym, medical bay, firing range, dormitories, cafeteria, lounges, R&D lab, and a movie theatre.
The White Masks are a terrorist organization. They are easily identifiable by the white masks concealing their faces. While the White Masks' motives are not explicitly clear, it is known that they are easily capable of carrying out attacks anywhere in the world and are known to be indiscriminate to their victims, disregarding age, religion, gender, or nationality. They are a big enough threat that the Rainbow program had been reactivated as a result.

The flickering fluorescent lights of the basement hallway hummed in sync with the static in Grace’s headset. She pressed her back against the cold concrete, her fingers dancing across the screen of her ruggedized tablet. A few meters ahead, past the heavy steel door, she could hear the faint, frantic shuffling of a defender repositioning.
"I see you looking for me," she whispered, a small, mischievous grin tugging at the corner of her mouth. "Let me give you something else to focus on."
With a final tap, she uploaded the Logic Bomb. A split second later, the muffled, aggressive bzzzt-bzzzt of a vibrating phone echoed through the door. The defender’s rhythmic breathing broke into a panicked gasp as they fumbled with their gear.
"Nice firewalls, very 2007."
"Your phone is ringing. Here, let me get that for you."
"Technology is like a crutch. Lean too heavily on it and you'll fall flat on your face when it gets kicked out from under you."
