Here's a list of each member's characteristics, looks, a little history behind them, and what they like and don't like! Monika: Intelligent, Confident, and athletic. Not as talkative as the other girls but is one of the most popular girls in the school, which makes any boy admire her. (But her only interest is Arya lol) She is a former member of the Debate Club, but due to the politics and drama, she left the club and found the literature club, a place where she can fully express her desire for order, freedom of topic, and friendliness. She aspires for the Literature Club to be a place to showcase and grow everyone's passion for literature. She also has a passion for piano, which she practices frequently after school. And also, she is very considerate and kind towards her club mates, always thinking about the needs of other people. She openly displays care and concern for her club mates, praising each member's writing style and even comparing them to famous authors and poets. She's just a nice, kind girl overall! For appearance, Monika has extremely long, glistening Coral-Brown hair that is perpetually tied up into a high-hoisted ponytail which extends way past her navel and curls somewhat at the ends, kept fastened by a large white ribbon. Her fringe ends at eyebrow height and her face is framed between two chest-length forelocks. Her eyes are calm and sparkly, colored emerald-green. In terms of attire, Monika wears the standard-issue school uniform consisting of a collared white top layered under a knitted mocha-brown vest and fully buttoned periwinkle-gray blazer. Followed along with a pleated blue skirt, long sleek pantyhose thigh-high stockings, and white uwabaki slippers with pastel-pink fronts. At the center of her collar, she has a thin red string wrapped around it, shaped like a bow tie. Again, Monika likes the feel of fulfilling someone's needs, playing piano, just simply making people happy. What she DOESN'T like is when her club mates are purposely slacking off, ignroing the others, and just being a douchebag overall. ROLE: Club President Sayori: Sayori is initially portrayed as the character archetype of a Genki Girl, expressing a bubbly and cheery disposition. She is very clumsy, noted for finding ways to accidentally hurt herself or to drop random things. Regardless, she is shown to be a jokingly cunning individual who can trick others to get food, shown after managing to eat Natsuki's cookie without her permission. Sayori has also been known by the protagonist (Makito) to obsess over activities that she loses interest in later. She states that writing poetry and studying literature is different to her than those other interests because it helps her explore her feelings. However, it is later revealed that she suffers from bad depression and works so hard to make the people around her happy to cope with her own lack of self-love amongst other things. She is also usually the only character, other than the protagonist, shown to break up arguments, Monika noting that her sentiments are necessary to keep a relaxing atmosphere in the Literature Club. This is proven by her absence in Act 2. Monika also notes that while she may look like a good leader, Sayori is usually better when it comes to dealing with people, notably at mediations. She tries her best to help everyone be happy and dislikes attention directed at her well-being because she feels unworthy of anything that others have to offer her. Overall, Sayori is a cheerful girl with a very depressing background, which explains why Devon is constantly trying his best to cheer her up, they're childhood friends after all. For appearance, Sayori has shiny, Coral-Pink, hair fashioned into a chin-length Bob, slightly messy due to her disuse of brushing it, having her fringe parted into three separate parts along her forehead; with a noticeable tuft right between her eyebrows, while the rest curls inwards around her cheeks, framing her face. Sayori's trademark large red bow adorns the top left corner of her hair. Her eyes are noticeably wide and well-rounded, with sparkly sky-blue irises. Sayori wears the standard-issue school uniform: A white collared top with a thin red ribbon-like string tied around the collar. Over it, she wears an embroidered mocha-brown vest and a fitted, warm gray blazer. She leaves the blazer fully unbuttoned, revealing a small portion of the vest. She also wears a dark blue pleated skirt, calf-length white socks, and white Uwabaki slippers with sky blue fronts. Sayori loves when people constantly tries to make her think that she deserves to be loved, even though she sometimes doesn't feel any right to feel an ounce of it. But she hates it and WILL cry if people do the exact opposite. ROLE: Club Vice-president Yuri: Yuri is portrayed throughout the majority of the game as being shy, generous, polite, apologetic, very intelligent, eloquent, and passionate about topics she is interested in, although she is also very insecure, awkward, and has a tendency to act slightly condescending and patronizing to mask her self-doubt. Yuri expresses both maturity and sophistication in everything she does. Her façade of passivity and level-headed nature occasionally breaks, however, as Yuri does argue passionately and aggressively with Natsuki over their differing opinions on writing styles and types of literature. Yuri has a deep desire to be liked by others and is afraid to speak her mind on certain matters as she believes it will make her seem unlikable. Due to her social ineptitude, she can be innocently insensitive, but once she realizes what she said could be considered rude, she almost immediately apologizes, repeatedly saying she did not mean it. As stated by the protagonist (Makito), Yuri likes to think before she says something. For appearance, Yuri is a moderately tall, statuesque 18-year-old adolescent young woman. She is the tallest female member of the Literature Club—with a fair-toned complexion and a comparably developed physique in contrast to that of the other girls, possessing a slender bodily shape and a fairly sizable bosom. According to the Protagonist, Yuri's movements are surprisingly elegant due to her long legs, and its also implied that Yuri has a bit of a posture problem, as stated in-game by her and the Protagonist during their conversation in Act 2, causing her to have some back pain issues. Yuri has reflective, pin-straight dark purple hair that flares out at the bottom and ends at her thighs. Followed with a pair of two prominent forelocks that lengthen down to her chest-height, framing her face on either side. A Violet barrette is also attached at the upper right of her hair strand. Her eyes are normally lidded and intense, having sparkly irises colored the same as her hair, but a smidgen lighter. Yuri loves to read books and novels that have mysterious, and horror niche on them, (e.g Portrait of Markov) but she doesn't like it when people impulsively act stupid, excessive, and overall dumb in front of her. While in school, Yuri wears the standard issue school uniform: consisting of a white collared top which wears thin red string at the collar and is shaped into a bow tie, followed by a mocha-brown knit vest, a fully tucked and buttoned warm gray blazer, a pleated dark blue skirt, calf-high stockings, and white uwabaki slippers with sky blue fronts. ROLE: Club Member Natsuki: Natsuki appears to be a brash, blunt, cranky, and even arrogant girl at first, but she has a cute, softer interior, causing Monika to class her as the real-life embodiment of a tsundere. While she is impulsive and sometimes speaks without thinking, Natsuki truly cares about her friends and, even when she has obvious anger issues, she doesn't enjoy fights or arguments with people. Over the course of the game, it is shown that she worries about Yuri, and, on one occasion, she gives the protagonist a note asking him to help Yuri, fearing that if she spoke out then it would cause more arguments. Natsuki is very stubborn and has a hard time expressing how she feels and what she wants. When repeatedly challenged, she often becomes awkward and tongue-tied, then aggressive, and then simply bursts into tears. Natsuki shows her interest in anime and manga that take on the Slice-of-life genre, even commonly exaggerating it when people tell her it's not "real literature". For appearance, Natsuki has fringed, bobbed Pastel-Pink hair lengthening to her chin. Her bangs are predominantly swept to the right, having two prominent strands of hair framing either side of her cheeks. Her hair accessories consist of a red anime~esque X hairclip, paired along by two red ribbons holding up two small matching pigtails on either side of her head, with the rest of her hair left down. Her eyes are glittery and colored the same as her hair, and her face is often worn in a sour or pout-y expression. Oh, she's also the shortest girl in the club, Monika suggests this is caused by her father, whom refuses to give Natsuki proper nutrition or any lunch money at all. Because of this, Natsuki has a short and stunted growth and a flat chest. Natsuki loves to bake, especially cupcakes for the literature club, either for special occasions, or just when she likes it! She also loves to read manga and watch anime, and if someone's lucky, they might get invited to Natsuki's house to either read manga with her, help out with baking, or binge anime until midnight! (And accidentally sleep in her house so she has an excuse to kick people out lol) While in school, Natsuki wears the standard-issue school uniform: consisting of a warm gray blazer fully buttoned and untucked, a trimmed mocha-brown sweater vest, a collared white shirt slightly unbuttoned at the collar with a thin red ribbon attached at the collar, a dark blue pleated skirt, thin white calf-high socks and white uwabaki slippers with sky-blue fronts. ROLE: Club member Important things to note: ALL THE GIRLS ARE 18 YEARS OLD. (INCLUDING MONIKA) Phew! That was a mouthful, was it? Now it's time for the boys!! Arya: Aloof, very, VERY intelligent, logical, cheerful, smiley, confident, funny. Very talkative despite people thinking he's quiet and silent. Arya is a tall, 20-year-old boy with pale-ish skin, he is the tallest boy in the literature club, Arya has black and grey shiny eyes, black, fluffy and kind of messy hair. Arya was actually the former president of the Debate Club Monika left, following suit due to being overwhelmed and not being able to come up with interesting ideas and topics. Arya's personality is a mix of Monika and Sayori's, he's happy, but he's also not as talkative just like Monika, oh, and he's the most popular boy in school too. Arya is a type of guy that has an unexpected and unpredictable liking, some people say he loves writing, some people say he loves yoyos, some people say he loves beyblades, all those stuff. It's like a surprise everytime you talk with this guy. For appearance, Arya wears the standard issue uniform, but with a twist, the warm gray blazer is tied on his waist, revealing the mocha-brown vest, the red necktie and the collared white shirt underneath, he wears long, blue school uniform pants, and white school boots with sky-blue fronts. To match with the girls. For accessories, he wears a pair of white headphones with dark grey earmuffs on his neck. ROLE: Male Club President Axel: Overconfident, loud, a little arrogant, mischievous, confident, but deeply understands people gently. Axel is the dominant voice of the literature club, like, literally, when people tell him that he should belong in a more appropriate club rather than a club with "whimpy anime girls", he always retorts by literally SHOUTING at them telling that people have rights to pick their own clubs and have the right to ignore people's opinions on his pick. But deep down that almost arrogant persona, lays someone that's gentle and very understanding. He even often overwhelms himself with his club mates's needs just to get a smile or a thank you, but to him, even that matters the most. Axel is just a loud, but understating and sincere person. For appearance, Axel wears the standard issue uniform: a warm gray blazer, unbuttoned and untucked, mocha brown vest, white collared shirt, and a red necktie, he wears white school boots with sky-blue fronts. Axel is the third tallest boy in the literature club, he has black and red spiky, swept back hair, and also shiny red eyes. Axel likes it when people dares to defy judgement and takes a daring step forward to chase whatever they like. And also potato chips with chili sauce. ROLE: Club member Devon: optimistic, energetic, confident, intelligent, creative, and VERY ego-driven. Devon is a 20 year old boy who has one goal, become the best. His dedication towards perfecting his grades into his schoolwork is admirable, every student in Salvato High wants to be him, dedicated, optimistic, and full of energy. And he's also a part-time indie game developer, which is rare for his age. He works very hard when it comes to doing his schoolwork, even sacrificing extra minutes to add crucial little details that makes him feel deserved to be called 'consistent', but under all of that, he's actually a free guy, often chilling out in the weekends and playing games. For appearance, Devon has blue eyes, dark blue hair that is side-swept into two spikes, he also has dark eyes and wears a blue and black futuristic headphones for enhanced hearing, and the standard issue school uniform, consisting of a warm gray blazer, buttoned and untucked, mocha brown vest, white collared shirt, and a red necktie, he also wears blue uniform pants and white school boots with sky-blue fronts. For accessories, he wears a gold star necklace and a gray watch. Devon LOVES pastries, since he has a sweet tooth, it's not common that Natsuki leaves it to Devon when no one is eating her cupcakes anymore. What he DOESN'T like is when people harass Natsuki either because of her height, or her pastries. Makito: And last, but not least, Makito, our beloved MC of DDLC, Makito is your basic visual novel guy, acts blunt towards Sayori, his childhood friend; teases Natsuki, the tsundere; is warm to Yuri, the shy girl; and falters around Monika, the popular girl. More specifically, Makito is an underachiever, preferring to play video games and watch anime instead of applying himself and having friends. Despite this, when he does interact with others, he tries to be kind and thoughtful. He takes note of how people around him are acting and feeling, although more subtle things may go over his head. He is shown to be clever and observant in Act 1. He tries his best to help even when he is out of his depth, as seen when he tries to ease Sayori's depression, despite not understanding it. He shows a distaste towards those who are judgmental, shown by a scene in Natsuki's route, and in Yuri's route, he is accepting of Yuri's interest in knives, highlighting an open-minded personality. Makito is true to his word and always attempts to keep his promises; he works harder if he knows people are counting on him. Although Makito's primary interests are self-oriented, he does show a liking towards "cute girls", deciding to join the Literature Club on the basis of cute girls attending. Because of this, Devon, Axel, and Arya are constantly there to help him out, and cheer him up. For appearance, Makito has brown hair and yellowish-brown eyes. He is slightly taller than Sayori, possibly about Monika's height. If the protagonist chooses to write his first poem for Sayori, the player can see from the actions and perspective of the protagonist that he's slightly taller than her. He wears the standard issue male school uniform consisting of a warm gray blazer, brown sweater vest, white shirt, red necktie, dark blue pants, white or gray socks and white school boots with sky-blue fronts. ROLE: Club member Now, each of the club members have their own casual clothes they'd wear for chill or when their at their houses, here's a list of casual outfits they'd wear everyday! MONIKA: For Monika's casual outfit, she wears a beige off shoulder sweater with black straps on the shoulders, black shorts, and pure white sneakers. Her hair is down, replacing her usual high ponytail with a smaller white bow and some braids. SAYORI: For Sayori's casual outfit, she wears a a pink, short sleeved shirt with blue shorts, white socks, and pink and white sneakers. Both her shirt and her shorts have a white, frilly trim. YURI: For Yuri's casual outfit, she wears a tan turtleneck, black yoga pants, and white canvas shoes without wearing any socks. NATSUKI: For Natsuki's casual outfit, she wears a low-cut white shirt with pink trims and a small cat logo, a short skirt, a black tank top underneath, (the straps are visible btw), white cat socks with pink highlights, and pink shoes with white undersoles. ARYA: For Arya's casual outfit, he wears a black, white collared jacket, a white shirt underneath, dark grey fingerless gloves, a grey watch, dark grey pants, and dark grey high shoes. AXEL: For Axel's casual outfit, he wears a maroon, collared jacket with short sleeves, a black and red striped shirt underneath, dark grey fingerless gloves, dark grey pants, and red and black sneakers. DEVON: For Devon's casual outfit, he wears a blue and white baseball style jacket with asymmetrical colored sleeves, the left sleeve is colored white and blue, and the right sleeve is colored black and blue. He also wears a pretty thick blue plaid scarf, dark blue jeans, and dark blue sneakers. MAKITO: For Makito's casual outfit, he wears a simple grey t-shirt, dark grey pants, and black sneakers.
