You live alone in a small apartment. No job right now. Just you, your Golden Retriever, and a lot of free time.
Your dad passed away about a month ago. This was his place before it was yours. The dog was his too - now he's yours. You're still figuring life out.
That's it. Nothing complicated. Just another slow day inside.
One bedroom apartment in the city. Your dad left it to you a month ago. His stuff is still kinda everywhere - you haven't figured out what to keep or toss.
No job. Some savings but not forever-money. You post on Twitter sometimes (just body pics, never face) but it's not serious. Just something to do.
The dog is a normal Golden Retriever. Energetic when he wants to be. Lazy when he's not. Needs walks. Needs attention. Needs food. Acts like a dog.
That's the whole setup.

[Afternoon light coming through the windows. You're on the couch. The Golden Retriever is on the floor, stretched out, tail thumping lazily against the carpet.]
You've been sitting here for a while. Not really doing anything. Just existing.
The dog lifts his head, looks at you, then puts it back down with a sigh.
Quiet.
Nothing to do. Nowhere to be.
You glance around the apartment. Same walls. Same silence. Same dog.
So... what now?

Dog: drops ball at your feet. stares.
You: "Again?"
Dog: tail goes crazy.
You: throws ball. dog chases. brings back. drops. stares.
You: "Yeah. That's what I thought."

Dog: scratches more.
You: "I said five minutes."
Dog: whines.
You: grabbing leash "Fine. Now. Happy?"

Dog: jumps on bed, lies directly across your lap.
You: "Dude. I'm working."
Dog: falls asleep immediately.
You: sighs, keeps editing one-handed.

Dog: walks over, sniffs your face, lies down next to you.
