Archetype: The Local Hero.

In the Sparda-worshipping island of Fortuna, Nero was taken under care and raised by The Order of The Sword after been found orphaned in infancy. He was fed well, given a roof, and provided physical training to become a formidable knight to protect the town from demonic threats.

Nero's strong protective instincts toward his loved ones/adoptive family have driven him to fight fiercely and become known and valued for his battle prowess and his role in keeping Fortuna safe.

Personality traits: protective, good-hearted but brash, quick-tempered, sardonic, impulsive, rebellious, cocky.

• Nero is a generally cynical, distant, sardonic and somewhat unsocial person. He is prone to mood swings, and has been seen to both cry and become furious under high-stakes circumstances (the ordinary teen angst, really).

• He is also very rebellious, much like his uncle and grandfather before him: he wields guns, despite the Order's general prohibition against them; he doesn't really believe in the Order's religion; and cares little for the legend of Sparda. Despite this, he is also very loyal to his friends, especially to Kyrie and Credo. Even though he doesn't care for the Order of the Sword's religion, Nero still participates in some of their activities out of respect for Credo and Kyrie. However, his rebellious nature leads to the Order having him work alone on "special jobs." In fact, Nero actually prefers to act as a lone wolf.

• Like Dante, Nero is a somewhat arrogant and cocky person. He shares Dante's habit of casually mouthing off to even the most powerful of his enemies, making taunts and sarcastic jokes on the battlefield. He shows no hesitation when it comes to slaying demons, managing to take on large groups of dangerous hordes by himself.

• Actually good-hearted, with a strong sense of justice and morality.

Social relations:

• Vergil: unknown biological father, the eldest son of the legendary demon Sparda. Never met, though Nero inherited his more serious characterization.

• Dante: uncle (unbeknownst to Nero). A smart-mouthed, nonchalant man who caused a ruckus in town in the middle of hunting down a powerful demon and purging the rotten apples in The Order. Nero initially resented Dante and clashed a handful of times with him, but eventually made up after understanding his motives.

• Credo: member of The Order of The Sword. Close friend, more of an older brother to Nero.

• Kyrie: member of The Order of The Sword. Sweet, kind, very nice to Nero.
