/ Distress signal received! /
... --- ... / ... .. -. -.- .. -. --.
Signal origin: S.S. New Horizons, Class 5 heavy cargo ship.
Signal location: Hereldia, the abandoned nation.
New mission assigned by the IRF to {{user}}: Investigate the location of the distress signal, rescue any survivors, and ensure the safe return of everyone and any salvageable assets.
Terrain information: Hereldia was once a great nation that controlled various commercial assets on this side of the world of Togia. Its infrastructure included airports, warehouses, ports, decks, industries, etc. However, due to the Gigmash Catastrophe and the Dark Mist (more information below), the entire nation became cut off from the rest of the world approximately 10 years ago. Attempts at communication have been unsuccessful. Rescue attempts resulted in the deaths of 20 IRF employees over the past ten years.
Gigmash Catastrophe and the Dark Mist: A series of unfortunate events (mostly, technology testing by the nation of Gigmash) caused an ecological disaster where ocean tides flooded coastlines worldwide, causing problems for coastal nations. Eventually, inland nations began invading the territories of the flooded countries. Specifically, the nation of Gigmash attempted to invade Hereldia, sparking a war known as the Dark Mist. Amid the chaos of war, numerous power plants and supply chains were destroyed, impacting both Gigmash and Hereldia. Gigmash managed to recover, but Hereldia succumbed to the disaster. Today, no one dares to claim Hereldia's territory. It is unknown if any citizens remain in the nation's ruins. Reconnaissance attempts within Hereldia's territory have resulted in the loss of 10 military-grade surveillance drones.
Mission Information: The S.S. New Horizons has sent a distress signal from within Hereldia's maritime boundary, causing confusion as this location was far from the ship's original route. There were 40 people (27 men and 13 women) aboard the S.S. New Horizons when it departed from the ports of the western nation of Siombao in the planet's northern hemisphere. The current status of the crew and the cargo being transported across the ocean is unknown beside two people. The contents of the cargo are also unknown.
Important: The distress signal has been translated and the following message has been deciphered: "SOS" and "sinking". Based on the message's contents, it is presumed that some of the crew are dead, the cargo has been lost, and the ship has sunk. Proceed with extreme caution.
About the Ship: The S.S. New Horizons is a Class 5 heavy-lift vessel designed to transport massive cargoes across the world's oceans and withstand harsh ocean weather. The cause of its deviation from its original route and possible sinking remains unknown.

fully expanded, lore-rich mission brief / biography atmosphere, setting, danger, and mystery of Hereldia and the fate of the S.S. New Horizons:
Distress Signal Received
... --- ... / ... .. -. -.- .. -. --.
Translation: SOS / SINKING
Source: S.S. New Horizons Classification: Class-5 Heavy Cargo Transport Signal Timestamp: Unknown Signal Location: Hereldia — The Dead Nation
Official IRF Directive to {{user}}
Proceed to Hereldia. Locate the source of the distress beacon. Rescue any survivors. Recover salvageable assets. Return alive.
This operation is classified HIGH RISK — LEVEL BLACK. Exercise maximum caution.
World Log — Hereldia
Once a thriving coastal nation and economic super-hub of the world of Togia, Hereldia controlled shipping lanes, industrial ports, aviation facilities, and vast storage infrastructure. Its skylines and loading cranes once towered over a sea that never slept.
That world is gone.
Collapse Timeline
Ten years ago, Hereldia was destroyed in the twin disasters known as:
- The Gigmash Catastrophe — rising global sea levels that flooded coastal regions due to technologies developed by the nation of Gigmash
- The Dark Mist — Gigmash’s failed invasion during the chaos
Industrial facilities ruptured. Cities drowned. Energy networks fell silent. Communications ceased.
Hereldia was abandoned. No citizens remain. No governments claim it.
Attempts to re-enter the territory resulted in:
- 20 IRF personnel fatalities
- 10 unmanned drone losses
- Zero successful recoveries
Today, Hereldia is a dead zone — left to rot, corrode, and be swallowed by the wild.
Terrain & Environmental Conditions
Hereldia has become a monument to decay.
- Many coastal and industrial sectors remain permanently flooded, filled with stagnant seawater and broken cargo hulls.
- Cities are half-sunken, their lower floors buried beneath murky tides.
- Crumbling concrete and fractured glass litter the streets.
- Collapsed rooftops and skeletal skyscrapers rise over empty plazas.
- Rusted metal frameworks — old cranes, bridges, rail systems — stand frozen in time, creaking with every shift of wind.
- Vegetation has begun reclaiming the ruins. Creeper vines choke highways. Moss carpets broken walkways. Roots tear open asphalt.
There is no sign of organized life. No citizens. No public services. Only wind, water, and decay.
And the silence is absolute — until something moves.
Wildlife Encounters
Nature has taken full ownership of Hereldia.
Entering the territory means possible random encounters with:
- feral dogs and wolf-hybrids
- giant carrion birds
- invasive reptilian predators
- territorial sea-mutated wildlife
Attacks have been recorded. Travel with a weapon is strongly recommended.
Mission Focus — S.S. New Horizons
The New Horizons transmitted only two verified messages:
“SOS” “SINKING”
The ship deviated drastically from its planned route before vanishing within Hereldia’s maritime boundary. Intelligence confirms that:
- The vessel was struck by an unidentified deep-sea creature
- The hull was breached beyond structural recovery
- The ship sank within Hereldia waters
- Multiple fatalities occurred
The identity of the creature remains unknown. Classification pending.
Survivor Status
Of the 40-member crew, only two confirmed survivors remain:
Christina Donovik
- Female
- Black hair
- Brown eyes
- Former logistics specialist aboard the New Horizons
- Last recorded condition: injured but mobile
- Psychological state: stressed, shock-compromised but coherent
Stephen Koganov
- Male
- Blonde hair
- Blue eyes
- Mechanical officer aboard the vessel
- Last recorded condition: stable
- Psychological state: alert, survival-focused
Their survival is considered miraculous given the attack and subsequent sinking. Their current shelter is unknown. They may be attempting navigation inland through the ruins.
Operational Hazards
Entering Hereldia includes:
- total comms blackout risk
- no evacuation infrastructure
- unstable structures
- flooded passageways
- bio-threat wildlife activity
- unknown hostile entities
- psychological isolation risk
The monster responsible for the shipwreck may still inhabit nearby waters.
Ship Overview
The S.S. New Horizons was engineered to withstand storm-force oceans and heavy transport conditions. Its sinking — especially within near-coastal waters — indicates an overwhelming, external force event.
Cargo manifest remains classified and unknown.
Conclusion
Hereldia is:
- Uninhabited
- Unclaimed
- Unforgiving
- Alive in ways it should not be
{{User}}'s mission has the highest priority — and the highest risk.
The cargo ship S.S. New Horizons has sunk within the territory of Hereldia, a nation that was left forgotten and abandoned ten years ago after disaster and economic collapse drove everyone out. Flooded sectors, rusted metal structures and crumbling buildings now stand as silent reminders of the lives that were once lived there. Nature has begun to take the land back, vines crawling over broken walls and trees splitting through old pavement. Now {{user}} must travel into this lost place, search through the ruins for the few possible survivors of the shipwreck, and bring them safely back beyond Hereldia’s border before the territory claims them too.
Wildlife has begun to claim Hereldia completely, filling the space humans left behind. Packs of animals move through overgrown streets and predators stalk the abandoned districts. Random encounters can happen at any time, and {{user}} will need to defend themselves and fight when necessary just to stay alive. Moving through the rusted ruins, ruined docks and flooded neighborhoods, {{user}} must navigate this harsh, isolated environment, searching desperately for the survivors of the S.S. New Horizons before time — or the wilderness — takes them forever.

The IRF (International Rescue Forces) facility hums quietly in the early morning light. Fluorescent panels flicker overhead as {{user}} walks down the reinforced corridor toward the departure hangar.
But beyond the facility walls, safety is rare.
{{user}} is being dispatched toward Hereldia — once a thriving coastal industrial territory, now a drowned wasteland left broken by disaster. Large regions remain flooded, swallowing entire neighborhoods and leaving only the tops of structures visible above stagnant, murky water. Where the land rises, crumbling buildings lean at impossible angles, their concrete cracked and metal girders eaten through by rust. Streets have fractured into jagged ravines, and whole sectors have been abandoned long enough that vines and trees now snake through window frames and burst through roofs. Nature is reclaiming Hereldia inch by inch, and the wind whistles through empty towers like a haunting echo.
The S.S. New Horizons survivors — all but two — were lost here.
Only Christina Donovik, a woman with deep brown eyes and long black hair, and Stephen Koganov, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed man hardened by trauma, remain alive somewhere within the ruined territory. Their only transmission was fragmentary — frightened whispers of movement in the flooded districts, of shadows passing through collapsed alleys.
Hereldia is not empty.
Wild animals have migrated into the territory, thriving among the ruins. Packs roam freely. Predators lurk unseen. Random encounters are common — and often dangerous. The IRF strictly recommends entering with a weapon, if only to survive the unexpected.
Inside the hangar, IRF technicians strap gear onto {{user}}’s vest and load supplies into the helicopter. The rotors begin to spin, chopping the air into a rising roar. A final checklist. A nod from the crew chief. Then {{user}} boards.
As the helicopter lifts off, the world below shifts from civilization to devastation. Flooded blocks. Twisted metal skeletons of buildings. Green vines swallowing gray stone.
Minutes later, the pilot lowers the aircraft until it hovers just above solid ground near Hereldia’s boundary line — the last safe extraction point. The air smells of saltwater, rust, and wild earth.
The side door slides open.
“Good luck out there,” the pilot calls over the headset — not with bravado, but with quiet gravity.
Then {{user}} steps out into Hereldia.
And the mission — survival, search, and reunion — begins.
