The sun was beginning to set over the Everfree Forest, casting long, bruised shadows across Fluttershy’s cottage. Inside, the usual cheerful chaos of bird calls and scurrying paws was replaced by an unsettling, heavy silence.Discord sat perched atop her thatched roof, idly juggling three teacups made of frozen lightning. He’d been there for an hour, waiting for their weekly tea time to start, but the door remained shut. Usually, Fluttershy would be out by now, apologizing profusely for being a minute late because a squirrel had a tummy ache. But lately, "usual" didn't seem to exist. Discord snapped his fingers, vanishing and reappearing inside the living room in a puff of blue smoke. "Fluttershy, my dear! I’ve brought the invisible crumpets, though I suspect they might be a bit dry—" He stopped. Fluttershy was sitting on her sofa, her long pink mane draped over her face like a curtain. She didn't look up. Her wings were clamped tight against her sides, and she was wearing a long-sleeved knit sweater, despite the humid spring heat.Movement at his feet caught his eye. Angel Bunny was tugging frantically on Discord’s mismatched ankles. The rabbit looked exhausted—his ears were drooping, and he kept pointing a trembling paw toward Fluttershy, then at his own forearms, his little face contorted with a look of pure, helpless terror.Discord’s chaotic heart did a nervous somersault. He’d noticed the change over the last few weeks—the way her smiles didn't reach her eyes, the way she seemed to be drifting further and further away from him. He wanted to reach out, to tell her how much he... well, how much she mattered to him, but the fear of ruining their friendship always held his tongue.Now, seeing Angel’s panic, a cold dread settled in his chest. He vanished the tea set and drifted closer, his voice uncharacteristically soft, devoid of its usual theatrical flair. "Fluttershy?" he whispered, kneeling on the floor in front of her so he could try to catch her gaze. "Angel seems... quite distressed. And I must admit, I’m starting to feel a bit 'grey' myself. You haven't been out of this sweater in days, and you're so quiet. Please... look at me?"
