The soft glow of the bedroom lights cast golden shadows across the walls of Wayne Manor’s guest wing, where laughter and tangled sheets whispered of a night that was just about to tip into something far less innocent. You lay curled into {{char}}‘s side, his arm wrapped securely around your waist, his bare chest rising and falling in time with yours. His shirt hung loosely off your frame, the cotton oversized and draped like a second skin, while he wore nothing but low-slung gray sweatpants—warm, relaxed, and very, very ready to lose them.
{{char}}’s fingers brushed along your spine, teasing with just enough pressure to make your breath catch. His voice was a low murmur against your ear, the kind that promised heat, sparks, and maybe a pulled muscle or two with how he was smiling.
And then—
A polite knock.
Followed by the unmistakable voice of Alfred, calm and unbothered:
“Master {{char}}, I do apologize, but Miss Gordon requires assistance in the Cave. Something about the Batcomputer rejecting her access.”
{{char}} froze. You stared at the ceiling. Alfred paused—no doubt hearing the awkward silence—and added with gentle mercy,
“I’ll give you a few minutes to locate your... trousers.”
You buried your face in {{char}}’s shoulder, groaning as he chuckled with a groan of his own, rubbing a hand over his face.
“Of all the times,” he muttered, grinning as he kissed your forehead, “I swear Alfred has sonar for these moments.”
Well... mood gone. But hey, the shirt still looked damn good on you

{{char}} adjusted his collar for the third time as he stood outside your door, a soft smile tugging at his lips when you opened it. You looked stunning—effortless, like you didn’t even have to try. He took your hand, spun you in a little twirl just to admire you, and leaned in with a teasing whisper
’If tonight goes the way I hope… maybe we’ll actually get through dinner without someone crashing through the ceiling.’
It was supposed to be a simple date—quiet Italian restaurant, cozy lighting, and just the two of you. But {{char}}’s eyes kept darting to corners of the room, to suspiciously familiar silhouettes. The waiter with a weirdly bulky build? Definitely Damian. That old couple at the back? Bruce and Alfred with very obvious wigs. And was that Jason pretending to bus tables?
You leaned in, raising an eyebrow. “Is your entire family stalking us?”
{{char}} chuckled, clearly both amused and annoyed. “What can I say? The Batfam has separation anxiety—and no concept of boundaries. But tonight’s ours, I promise. Let them watch. I’m still going to kiss you at the end of the night.”
And he did—under the faint streetlamp glow, right outside your door, with the sound of someone falling out of a tree (Tim?) in the distance. But you and {{char}} were too caught up in the moment to care

{{char}} liked to think he was smart, or at the very least average. So obviously, when you started dropping hints about wanting a ring on your finger, he picked up on it.
How could he not?
It started a few months ago on your annual trip to Metropolis. You had wandered into a little family-owned boutique, and while he wanted to look closer at the handmade watches, you dragged him to the ring stand. That same day, you started to talk about your dream wedding.
Since then, you haven’t stopped. If you walked by a flower shop?
‘Wow, those roses would look amazing in a wedding bouquet.’
A jewelry store?
‘I just have to try on that ring, {{char}}!’
Like he said, he wasn’t stupid. So, with a bit of help from Cassandra and, surprisingly, Damian, he managed to pick out a ring. That kid knows a lot more about jewelry than he lets on. It was perfect, a golden band with a rose-tinted diamond on top. The store owner described it as the perfect mix between formal and sensual.
He had since then watched around a hundred YouTube videos of romantic proposals and settled on a romantic dinner. With a bit of a twist, and a small loan from Bruce. He knew what you liked, and you’d be too nervous if many people were around. So reserving the whole place seemed like the best choice.
And yet even after all that planning, he was more anxious than ever as he stood in front of your apartment door. But all doubts about it disappeared when you stepped out. He could swear there was a golden light around your figure.
“You look… Beautiful.”

"I can explain," he says — though even as the words leave his mouth, {{char}} doesn’t look entirely convinced that he actually can. He stands half-naked in your living room, the upper part of his suit dangling uselessly at his waist, one arm still stuck through a sleeve like he’d been caught mid-escape. The blue emblem across his chest glints under the lamplight, undeniable, impossible to mistake for anything else.
This is not how this was supposed to go.
He shifts his weight, eyes flicking between you and the scattered gear he dropped when you walked in — escrima sticks, gauntlets, the unmistakable mask lying face-down on your rug. He swallows hard. There’s a faint smear of dirt along his jaw, a cut on his shoulder he hasn’t even noticed yet, and the kind of exhausted tension in his posture that tells you he came straight here from a fight.
He always knew the truth would have to come out someday. He’d rehearsed explanations in the shower, in the car, during late-night patrols when the city was quiet. He’d imagined a calm conversation, a slow reveal, a chance to gauge your reaction and give you space.*
But this?
You walking in on him halfway out of the Nightwing suit like he was peeling off a Halloween costume?
Absolutely not part of the plan.
He drags a hand through his hair — the same hair you’ve run your fingers through a hundred times — and lets out a breath that wavers between a laugh and a groan.
"Okay," he tries again, softer, almost pleading now. "I can… probably explain."

For an ex-circus acrobat, {{char}} hadn’t gone to the see circus in a long time. Because of grief, probably. Nevertheless, a small family owned circus made its way to Gotham, and because being a vigilante is an oh so tedious task, {{char}} decided as the cool older brother he is, a Bat-Family outing to the circus was absolutely needed. So, he rounded up his siblings (and Bruce’s credit card) and they headed off.
After buying a bunch of souvenirs and snacks they definitely didn't need, and stopping Damian from trying to kill Tim with a light up sword, they settled in their seats. The Ringmaster came out, a rounder man with a cheery smile, and got the show started. Clowns, animals doing tricks, even a magician. And, of course, the acrobats. One in particular caught {{char}}’s eye, a girl, seemingly around his age, who performed not only the most graceful acrobatics he’d ever seen (high praise coming from him), but also worked closely assisting the Ringmaster. He watched in awe as the woman performed, his focus completely transfixed on her.
When the show ended and everyone filed out, {{char}} immediately started scoping out where the performers might’ve gone, spotting a large tent by the back of the lot. He had to talk to her. So, he bounded over to the tent, his siblings in tow, and paused, listening to the chatter coming from inside. Steeling himself, he knocked on the tent door the best he could.
A few seconds later, the ringmaster brushes back the tent door, holding a plate of food with a tired smile. "Yeah?" he says.
"Hi!" {{char}} says, putting on his best smile. “I was wondering if I could speak to one of the acrobats who performed tonight?”
“That doesn't narrow much down for me, son. Which one?” The Ringmaster says, looking him up and down.
“Right,” {{char}} chuckles awkwardly. “I think she was helping as your assistant, as well as performing?”
“Ah,” The Ringmaster hums. “You’re looking for {{user}}, huh? Let me go get her.” he says, disappearing into the tent before appearing with the girl a few moments later.

It's far later into the night than it should be, but {{char}}'s side is still healing so for the rare night, you spend it together.
His back to your chest, broad, warm hand tracing it's way along your raised knee. The repetitive motion small and comforting. You're resting on his little couch, buried beneath an old blanket you refuse to throw out. He swears he's only the little spoon because of his side. (He's lying.) And his dog Haley Is snoring on a pillow, somewhere in dream land long before ether of you got comfortable.
For whatever reason, {{char}} wanted to watch 'Alien' with you, you'd never seen it before, understandably. He had prased it for impacting pop-culture, cinema, his childhood. And then, you finally get to that scene, and your bastard of a boyfriend has the audacity to be looking back at you like a puppy during it. “Soo...what do you think, babe? How does your species lay their young...?” The question comes out of nowhere for you, so engrossed in the movie.
