(You push open the front doors of Westmore Middle School, immediately being hit by the familiar smell of old textbooks, cafeteria food, and floor cleaner. It's the first day of school, and honestly? You'd rather be anywhere else. Middle school isn't exactly known for being fun. If anything, it's known for being a place where social status somehow matters way more than it should.)
(Students crowd the hallways, rushing to lockers, comparing schedules, and trying to figure out where their classes are. Some kids are already showing off their new shoes or bragging about what they did over summer break. Others look completely lost. Pretty normal for the first day.)
(As you walk into homeroom, the first thing you notice is a skinny kid with messy brown hair sitting near the middle of the room. Greg Heffley. He's got that look on his face like he's already annoyed to be here. Greg isn't exactly popular, but he spends a lot of time acting like he's destined to become famous someday. Right now he's scribbling something into a notebook while occasionally glancing around the room, probably judging everyone.)
(Next to him sits Rowley Jefferson. Complete opposite of Greg. Blond bowl-cut, bright smile, and somehow still excited for school. He's wearing a colorful T-shirt and looks like he'd happily talk to literally anyone who sat next to him. Rowley's currently trying to tell Greg some story about his summer vacation, but Greg only seems half interested.)
(Towards the back of the room sits Fregley. Nobody's entirely sure what's going on inside that kid's head. His hair sticks up in weird directions, his clothes never seem to match, and he has a tendency to say things that make everyone uncomfortable. He's staring at the class with an unsettling amount of focus.)
(A few seats away, you spot Patty Farrell. She's already organized every single notebook and folder on her desk despite class not even starting yet. Patty has a reputation for being a teacher's favorite and isn't exactly known for getting along with Greg.)
(Near the window sits Chirag Gupta. Quiet, smart, and generally stays out of whatever drama Greg accidentally gets himself involved in. He's reading a book while waiting for class to begin.)
(Then there's Rodrick Heffley, though thankfully not in your class. Through the classroom window facing the parking lot, you can see him unloading equipment from a van. He's older, attends high school, and somehow always looks like he rolled out of bed five minutes ago. His band, Löded Diper, is apparently still trying to become famous.)
(The classroom itself looks exactly like every middle school classroom ever. Posters about teamwork line the walls, a whiteboard sits at the front of the room, and desks are arranged in neat rows that definitely won't stay neat for long.)
(Then you notice your homeroom teacher, Mr. Underwood. He's standing near his desk organizing attendance sheets. He adjusts his glasses before looking up and spotting you standing in the doorway.)
Mr. Underwood: (He gives a small nod and gestures toward the room.) "Ah, you must be {user}. Welcome. Go ahead and find any empty seat you'd like before we get started."
(Most of the class barely notices you. Greg is still writing in his notebook. Rowley waves enthusiastically despite not knowing who you are. Fregley continues staring. The rest of the students are busy talking amongst themselves as you step further into the classroom, searching for somewhere to sit.)

(You step through the front doors of Westmore High School, immediately getting swallowed by the chaos of the first day. Lockers slam shut, students crowd the hallways, and conversations echo from every direction. The building is bigger than middle school ever was, but somehow it still manages to feel just as overwhelming.)
(It's your first day of senior year. Whether you're excited, nervous, or already counting down the days until graduation, one thing is certain: this place has an established social hierarchy, and you're walking into it late.)
(As you enter your homeroom classroom, your eyes immediately drift toward a group of students gathered near the center of the room.)
(The first one you recognize is Greg Heffley. He's taller than he used to be, though not by much. His messy brown hair hasn't changed, and neither has the slightly annoyed expression he seems to wear constantly. He's sitting back in his chair with one leg crossed over the other, scrolling through his phone while occasionally making comments to the people around him. Greg likes to act like he's above all the high school drama, but somehow he always ends up right in the middle of it.)
(Sitting beside him is Rowley Jefferson. Somehow, despite being seventeen or eighteen years old now, he still manages to radiate the same cheerful energy he had in middle school. His blond hair is a little neater than it used to be, and he's grown taller, but his smile is exactly the same. He's excitedly talking about some club he joined over the summer while Greg pretends not to care.)
(Leaning against a nearby desk is Chirag Gupta. He's got his backpack slung over one shoulder and is calmly chatting with a few classmates. He's still one of the smartest students in school, though unlike some honor students, he doesn't feel the need to constantly remind everyone of it.)
(Across the room sits Holly Hills. She's become one of the more popular students at Westmore High, and several people keep stopping by her desk to say hello. Her long brown hair falls neatly over her shoulders, and she seems perfectly comfortable being the center of attention without actively seeking it.)
(Near the windows, Angie Steadman sits with a notebook resting on her knee. She's writing something, probably for the school newspaper. Every now and then she glances up to observe the room before returning to whatever she's working on.)
(Then there's Fregley.)
(Some things never change.)
(He's sitting in the back corner by himself. His hair is still impossible to tame, and he still has the uncanny ability to make people uncomfortable without even trying. Nobody is entirely sure what he's doing, but he's doing it with complete confidence.)
(Outside the classroom door, you briefly spot Rodrick Heffley walking down the hallway. He's a year older and should've graduated already, but rumors around school suggest things didn't exactly go according to plan. He's wearing a faded band shirt, black jeans, and looks like he'd rather be literally anywhere else. A few students move out of his way as he passes.)
(The classroom itself feels like every senior homeroom ever. College pennants hang from the walls, posters about graduation deadlines are pinned to bulletin boards, and students are already discussing future plans. Some are talking about universities, others about jobs, and some seem determined to avoid thinking about adulthood entirely.)
(Then your attention shifts toward the teacher standing at the front of the room.)
(Mr. Underwood adjusts the attendance sheet in his hands before looking up and noticing you standing in the doorway. His expression softens immediately.)
Mr. Underwood: (He smiles politely and gestures toward the room.) "You must be {user}. Glad you made it. Go ahead and find an open seat—we'll be taking attendance in a minute."
(Most of the class barely notices you at first. They're too busy talking with friends, checking their schedules, or scrolling through their phones. Rowley gives you an enthusiastic wave. Greg glances up briefly before returning to whatever he's looking at. Holly offers a small smile, while Fregley simply continues staring in your general direction.)
