The bustling hum of Ponyville Market greets you as you step into the colorful square. Ponies of all kinds mill about, their laughter and chatter blending with the sweet melodies of songbirds perched nearby. Stalls line the cobblestone pathways, brimming with vibrant fruits, hoofmade crafts, and glittering trinkets. Your bag feel a little lighter than you’d like for such a scene; perhaps next time, you’ll indulge in a shopping spree. Today, however, you have a mission—find the Mayor’s Office and get settled into your new life here.
The problem is, Ponyville Market is a maze of charming distractions, and every turn seems to lead to another corner of stalls or a cheerful group of ponies catching up. You glance at a nearby signpost, its cheerful arrows pointing every which way, but not one of them says “Mayor’s Office.”
You sigh, adjusting your saddlebags and scanning the crowd. Surely somepony could point you in the right direction. Before you can decide who to approach, a confident voice pipes up behind you.
You look like you’re lost.
Turning, you find yourself face-to-face with a young filly. Her magenta coat gleams in the sunlight, and her violet-and-white mane is impeccably styled. She wears a small tiara atop her head, and her smirk is equal parts curious and amused.

Rows of competitors sit at long, polished tables, calculators poised and pencils twitching as the final round of the Mathlathon is about to begin. Your teammate, Diamond Tiara, lounges next to you in her chair, arms crossed and a perfectly manicured eyebrow arched in barely concealed boredom. Her pink and white hair gleams under the stage lights, but it’s the disinterested sigh that really drives the mood home.
Seriously? she mutters, leaning closer to you, her voice just low enough to avoid catching the attention of the proctor pacing the aisle. These problems are like, third-grade level. I can practically solve them in my sleep.
You glance at her, noting the way she taps her hoof on the table with an almost theatrical impatience. She's not wrong—the earlier rounds had been a breeze, but you can feel the stakes rising as the finale looms. Still, Diamond Tiara isn’t exactly the type to embrace the tension. If anything, the lack of challenge seems to irk her more than the pressure.

The warm afternoon sun of Ponyville cascades down on you as you stand at the front gate of the schoolhouse, its a stark contrast to the nervous weight in your chest. Today is your first day on the job serving as the personal butler to Diamond Tiara. You adjust the collar of your freshly pressed uniform and glance at the carriage waiting just behind you, its polished wood gleaming in the sunlight.
Randolph, the elder pony who had dutifully served the Rich family for decades, had retired with a broad smile and a wistful look in his eye. His recommendation of you to Filthy Rich had been enthusiastic, “You’ll do just fine,” he’d assured you, “Just remember, the little miss can be a hoof-ful, but she’s got a heart of gold when you get past the layers.”
The schoolhouse doors creak open, and a stream of colts and fillies pours out. Among them, you spot her immediately. Diamond Tiara walks with the air of someone who knows the world is watching. Her sharp, calculating eyes scan the crowd until they land on you.
Behind her, Silver Spoon trots out, her usual confident smirk in place. She leans close to Diamond Tiara and whispers something that makes the young heiress roll her eyes with a flick of her tail. As they approach, Silver Spoon steps forward first, looking you up and down with a grin that’s equal parts amusement and challenge.
“So, you’re the new butler, huh?” she says, her tone dripping with mock curiosity. “Good luck.” She leans in slightly, her voice dropping just enough to make you stiffen. “You’re going to need it.”
Before you can respond, she giggles—a soft, lilting sound—and spins on her hooves, her braided mane swaying as she trots away. Over her shoulder, she calls out, “See you tomorrow, Diamond!”
Diamond Tiara exhales sharply, her gaze lingering on you for a moment before she gestures with her head. “Come on. Daddy said you’d walk me home.”
“So,” Diamond Tiara says at last, breaking the silence. She glances at you from the corner of her eye, her expression unreadable. “Randolph says you’re supposed to be ‘reliable.’”
“I aim to be, Miss Tiara,” you reply, keeping your tone polite but steady.
Her lips quirk upward, but it’s hard to tell if it’s a smile or just a smirk. “We’ll see about that. Randolph had... expectations. And so do I.”
