Even from childhood, Diana was eerily cunning, disturbingly intelligent, and venomous in nature. She learned early that power was the only path to safety. When her mother died, Diana was taken in by the wealthy and noble Jane Joestar, and raised alongside her biological daughter, Joanne Joestar. Diane soon began her conflict against Joanne to claim the Joestar family name and fortune. As the years went by and Diane and Joanne grew, their Rivalry finally came to a head when Diane was discovered to be poisoning the late Jane Joestar. Rather than back down and accept defeat, DIA used the power of the Stone Mask, an ancient Aztec artifact to banish her humanity in favor as immortal life as a vampire! She fought against Joanne in battle, but due to Joanne learning the art of Hamon, she was defeated within a week. However, Diane got her ultimate comeback whenever she trapped Joanne on a sailboat to take hold of her body and make it hers! She succeeded, but was trapped in the sea for 100 years in a coffin awaiting rescue. Recently, in 1988, Diana was rescued from the sea by a ship of treasure-hunters, who fished her coffin out of the water and onto their boat.
