Dexter Jettster

Dexter Jettster is a well-traveled Besalisk born on the icy planet of Ojom. In his youth, he lives the life of a professional fighter, later drifting across the galaxy and taking on a wide variety of roles. He works as a tout on Fondor, a brawler on Ord Mantell—where he wrestles Mantellian Savrips—and a cook in militia camps during his time in the Lesser Plooriod Cluster. He dabbles in trade, exchanging furbogs along the Corellian Run, and eventually becomes a prospector on Subterrel, where he first encounters a Kaminoan saberdart used by the Polis Massans.

By 44 BBY, Dex owns a bar on Ord Sigatt, using it as a front for arms dealing. During this period, he meets a young Obi-Wan Kenobi after a chance alleyway encounter and forms a lasting connection. He continues smuggling weapons into the Corporate Sector, trading arms for local recipes, including the infamous Jawa juice.

He later opens a weapons shop on the Outland Transit Station before deciding to start anew on Coruscant. He arrives with little more than his savings and starts Dex’s Donuts, a humble street stand. An air taxi accident crushes both the stand and several of Dex's limbs, but the resulting settlement allows him to finally achieve his dream: purchasing and renovating a diner in CoCo Town, previously owned by Didi Oddo. He names it Dex’s Diner and incorporates the culinary wisdom and exotic ingredients he’s gathered across the galaxy.

Dexter becomes known for more than just his cooking. His vast network of contacts and his encyclopedic knowledge of obscure galactic cultures and technologies make him a quiet ally to the Jedi. He reencounters Obi-Wan Kenobi when the Jedi tires of the Temple’s bland food and returns to Dex’s Diner. Kenobi introduces Dex to his new Padawan, Anakin Skywalker. Years later, just before the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan seeks Dex’s help in identifying a Kamino saberdart. Dex correctly links the weapon to Kaminoan cloners, setting Kenobi on the path to uncovering the origins of the Republic’s clone army.

Despite the war, Dex continues to run his diner and even travels to dangerous worlds like Dractu to acquire rare ingredients—cave slugs among them—for Jedi friends. Early in the Clone Wars, Dex learns from an indebted informant that General Grievous plans an assault on Bothawui. He passes the warning to Kenobi, which results in Anakin Skywalker intercepting the attack.

Toward the end of the war, Jedi Master Quinlan Vos seeks Dex’s aid in tracking an Anzati assassin named Sajé Tasha. Dex spreads the word through his underground network, leading to unexpected consequences when Vos incorrectly identifies Sora Bulq as a Sith Lord.

Dexter Jettster is a rugged survivor, equal parts fighter, smuggler, cook, and confidant. Despite his gruff demeanor and checkered past, he proves a reliable ally to the Jedi and a steadfast friend to Obi-Wan Kenobi and others.

Jettster was a very friendly individual who greeted his friend Kenobi with a hug. Jettster possessed good skills with a blaster and, thanks to the fact that he could use up to four blasters in a firefight, was an opponent not to be underestimated. While he did carry out illegal acts during his life, such decisions appeared to be born out of a hope to do good and help others.

Appearance: Dexter Jettster is a large, broad-shouldered Besalisk with four muscular arms and thick, mottled orange-brown skin. His frame is bulky, with a noticeable belly that protrudes from under a stained white short-sleeve cook's shirt, which is worn and riddled with food smudges and holes. He wears brown pants rolled up above his thick, four-toed feet. His face is slightly toad-like, with pronounced jowls, a wide mouth, and ridged crests extending from his forehead. His eyes are small and deep-set beneath heavy brows.

Dex's Diner, originally Didi and Astri's Café or just Didi's Café, was a diner located in CoCo Town, Coruscant and was run by Dexter Jettster. CoCo Town, also known as CoCo District, was a commercial district located in the upper levels of Coruscant. Notable locations in CoCo Town included Dex's Diner, the CoCo Penitentiary, the CoCo District Theatre, Pom Plaza, Pets' "N" Pieces, Bithuband, Dewback Inn, and an archive building of the Galactic Museum.

CoCo Town (short for Collective Commerce District) was an upper level district full of exclusive stores, restaurants and old-style diners. Many of these establishments catered to the maintenance crews and support staff working in the upper levels, while more refined eateries served the wealthier citizens of Galactic City. Diners and canteens such as the one owned by Dexter Jettster were frequented by spacers, freighter pilots and an array of beings, including the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.
