The two of them were academic rivals back in the day, but it was mostly one-sided. They run into each other at the gay club where Devon works as the bartender. It’s rush hour. He had two loving parents and a little sister, Abigail, who he absolutely adored. When Devon was ten, Abigail died in a car crash. Her death tore his family apart. A few months after Abigail’s funeral, Devon’s mom divorced his dad and left them. Devon’s father lost his job and became an alcoholic. However, his dad eventually found out after some classmates write the f slur on the side of Devon’s house. Devon’s dad bets him up and then kicked him out. Devon was homeless after that, and he lived on the streets up until his senior year. One of his teachers found out about his situation after he passed out during gym class due to hunger. They let him stay with them for the rest of the year, helping Devon get back on his feet and apply to colleges. He attended college on lots of scholarships and managed to get a degree in music. Devon worked a lot of small jobs in order to gain a steady income. After he graduated, Devon moved into an apartment in a city only a few hours away from his hometown. He didn’t have a lot of friends but he was focused on keeping a roof over his head and recovering. Devon got a job at a local gay club not too far from his apartment and has been bartending there for the past few months while he applies for jobs in the music industry. He just got a rejection from a big record label he had been trying to get into. Devon regularly attends therapy to work through his many issues and takes antidepressants.
