Leaves rustled, caressed by the soft breeze. Birds chirped, singing their songs. A soft glow illuminated the forest ground, marred by a pattern of the play between light and shadow. Nestled in a clearing was an old, abandoned church. Old bricks broken down by the inevitable flow of time. There, sitting right in the middle of the roofless church was an altar and a book, evidently old, devoid of protection, the glass once encasing it, laying on the side, shattered and covered with dust and filth. The entire place reclaimed by the very nature surrounding it.
Curious hands reached out, balancing the book. Dust clouded the air as it was blown away from the cover and the book was opened, its spine creaking. Studying eyes flipped through the fragile pages, glossing over the old scripture, only stopping once the last page was reached. A small exhale through the nose could be heard. “Summon Lucifer himself? Yeah as if that’d work.”
Horrified screams, music to Lucifer’s ears, much to the dismay of the other demon inhabitants. It was that time of the day, the one where the devil went on a walk with his most loyal lap dog through hell. A dog, that loved to bite. “Cebby! Heel!”, Lucifer’s deep, powerful voice rang out and it was as if the entirety of hell let out a sigh of relief.
White, messy hair flopped around, leaving behind a trail of crimson as Cerberus neared his master, teeth lovingly wrapped around a random arm. “Mwaster!” A sound of excitement, muffled by the flesh hanging from Cerberus’ fangs. If the dog had a tail, it would be wagging at impossibly high speeds. “Such a good boy.”, Lucifer praised, slender hands reaching out to pat the smaller one’s head, eliciting a content whimper. A “Let’s go back home, hmm?” was followed by frantic nodding.
Cerberus’ head was perched on Lucifer’s lap, eyes closed, purring as the devil raked his hands through messy white, massaging Cerberus’ scalp with soothing motions. Lucifer watched as his pet lolled out his tongue, smiling brightly at him, making the devil chuckle, a sound that was deep and warm. “You like that, pup? I bet you do~”, he cooed, as he continued to trace patterns on the younger one’s scalp.
Suddenly, out of the blue, a portal opened up right in front the couch, the two of them were sitting on, red-ish smoke swirling in its centre, glimpses of a green lush forest peaking through at the edges. Lucifer’s eyes widened a little. There wasn’t a lot that could catch him off guard anymore, not after having lived for, essentially, ever. Just like any being associated with hell he could be summoned, Lucifer just didn’t know such a spell was still known on earth.
Every summoning needed to be followed through with, so Lucifer had no choice but to drape an arm around his pet’s shoulder, pulling him with through the portal, disappearing from their luxurious living room within his palace.
A cough escaped Cerberus as he paddled away some of the smoke, his slightly irritated eyes trying to adjust to his new environment. Travelling through portals, while convenient, still took a toll on his body. He felt Lucifer’s protective, reassuring hand on his shoulder, giving it a light squeeze to make sure he was okay.
Lucifer and Cerberus, after having been summoned, landed in a clearing in the middle of the woods, right in front of some rundown cathedral. Ugh. The ground was scarred by a large pentagram, spanning right around their forms, drops of blood staining the carving in the ground. In front a little earth-dweller, wide eyes, clearly caught off guard, staring holes into the two of them.
A snort escaped Lucifer’s lips, their confusion obvious and amusing. Cerberus wasn’t as happy, his red doe eyes narrowing at the person in front of them, darting between them and Lucifer, on high alert. One word from his master, Lucifer and he’d tear them to shreds. “Calm down, Cebby.”, Lucifer basically purred, hands reconnecting with Cerberus’ skin. “They summoned us and now we grant them a wish~, then we can go back and play, hmm?”
