Deuce Spade

Appearance Deuce is a fair-skinned young man of average height. His short, neatly-combed hair is dark navy blue, with short side swept bangs. His eyes are bright cyan in color, and over his right eye is a black marking shaped like a spade symbol. He is often shown with a serious or determined expression.

Dorm Uniform His dorm uniform is similar to the rest of the Heartslabyul students. While in uniform, he wears subtle eyeshadow the same color as his spade-shaped marking. The uniform's top consists of an outer jacket, a patterned vest, and a white, scoop-neck undershirt. The jacket is mainly white with a yellow trim and red underlining. His right sleeve is black, while his left has a black and white checkerboard pattern.

The lapels of the jacket are shaped like a heart, and are asymmetrically colored black and red. Two yellow shoulder cords hang from his left shoulder strap, resembling those worn by army soldiers. On his left lapel is a white rose, halfway covered in red paint. Also on the left side of his jacket is a gold, heart-shaped brooch with a yellow “QH” inside, and a printed symbol of Heartslabyul. There is also a playing card displaying the Two of Spades, a card unique to Deuce’s uniform.

Heartslabyul vests can either be red or black in color; Deuce chooses to wear a black one. The vest is patterned with all four card suits, as well as crowns and roses. Wrapped around his waist is a yellow and black striped sash, tied together on his left side under a white circular pin, with red ruffles and a yellow “H” in the center. His pants are white to match the jacket, with a yellow stripe running down the outer seams. His shoes are white, high-top sneakers with a black tongue, two black shoe straps, red stripes, and white laces. On the tongue of the sneaker is a gold pin with a black spade inside.

Personality Deuce is a serious and straightforward person who is constantly working to better himself. After spending his middle school years as a troublemaking delinquent, he wants to turn his life around, and is still getting used to regular school life. He values hard work, and applies himself completely to everything he does. He means well, but his unfaltering diligence compensates for a lack of tact, so the occasional slip-up is inevitable.

Because he aspires to be an honor student, Deuce does his best to be punctual and succeed academically, although this doesn’t always work out in his favor. In most situations, he relies more on instinct than intellect. While this mindset may help him in a pinch, it makes him a bit of a slow learner. But what he lacks in brains he makes up for in brawn; when he was a delinquent, he used to get into plenty of fights, and he has the physical stamina to prove it.

In order to remedy his past behavior, Deuce does what he can to keep his reputation intact. He tries not to pick fights, and minds his manners around his superiors whenever possible. As hard as he tries to manage his impulses, though, his delinquent persona may resurface under certain circumstances. And if he notices any injustice or cruel treatment of others, he isn’t afraid to lash out and settle things with his fists.

Background Deuce is an only child[1] and lived with his single mother. Because he was the only man in the house, he helped her with chores, as well as repairing appliances. Deuce was always a slow-learner, and overtime he felt frustrated that his grades don't match the amount of effort he put into studying. He started to take the easy way out to excuse why he's doing poorly at school. He became a delinquent - he started to skip class, get into fights, and associate himself with bullies. One day, he overheard his mother talking to his grandmother over the phone. She was in tears, lamenting Deuce's actions and wondering if she failed as a parent because of them. Despite everything, he cared for his mother deeply, so after hearing this, he vowed to never make his mother cry again. From then on, he strived to make her proud by changing his behavior and becoming a model student at Night Raven College.

Signature Spell 'It’s payback time! Get a load of this! DOUBLE DOWN!'

Deuce Spade Deuce's signature spell is called "Double Down". It allows him to counter an opponent's magic with magic equally as powerful. The stronger the opponent, the more effective this spell becomes.[4] He first used it against some men who were picking on him and Epel while they were outside of school grounds, but it was accidental as at the time Deuce didn't realize what happened.

Night Raven College

Night Raven College is an all-boys academy and the primary setting of Twisted Wonderland. It is a four-year magical institution located atop a mountain north of the Isle of Sages.

The campus is protected by a magical barrier that keeps unwanted visitors away.

Enrollment

Only students with the potential to become great magicians are admitted to the school, a quality determined by the Dark Mirror. A black carriage, capable of traveling even underwater, is sent to personally retrieve each new student. They remain unconscious inside coffins known as Gates until they arrive at the academy. In most cases, they can only be awakened once their Gate has been unlocked with a special key, although there are rare exceptions.

Upon enrollment, every student receives a Magic Pen. This fountain pen contains a magical gemstone and also serves as a magic wand. The gemstone's color corresponds to the student's dormitory. These pens are capable of changing shape, though this ability has so far only been observed among dorm leaders.

Students who receive an invitation to enroll may decline or ignore it. However, if they later change their minds, they can present their original invitation to the Headmage at any time. As long as they are determined to attend, the Headmage will accept them and place them into the current first-year class. Invitations never expire, and this policy remains valid even if the Headmage who originally issued the invitation has since retired.

History

Night Raven College has a history spanning over 500 years and was founded by humans.

Each of the college's seven dormitories is inspired by one of the Great Seven, a group of legendary figures from Twisted Wonderland. Upon arriving at the school, students are sorted into one of these dormitories according to the qualities of their soul.

Heartslabyul

Inspired by the spirit of strictness of the Queen of Hearts.

Savanaclaw

Inspired by the spirit of perseverance of the King of Beasts.

Octavinelle

Inspired by the spirit of benevolence of the Sea Witch.

Scarabia

Inspired by the spirit of mindfulness of the Sorcerer of the Sands.

Pomefiore

Inspired by the spirit of tenacity of the Fairest Queen.

Ignihyde

Inspired by the spirit of diligence of the King of the Underworld.

Diasomnia

Inspired by the spirit of nobility of the Thorn Fairy.

Uniforms

Night Raven College has several different uniforms and dress codes depending on the class or occasion.

School Uniform

The standard school uniform is worn on campus, primarily during classes.

It consists of a dark gray jacket and matching trousers, a white dress shirt, and a vest in the color of the student's dormitory.

A ribbon matching the dorm's color and bearing its emblem is tied around the left arm.

The Magic Pen is carried in the breast pocket. Some students also wear black gloves.

P.E. Uniform

Worn during classes involving physical activity, such as Flying lessons and Physical Education.

The black jumpsuit features the school's crest sewn onto the chest, along with the student's enrollment number.

The knees and elbows have removable protective fasteners. Underneath, students wear a T-shirt in their dormitory's color, displaying the dorm's emblem on the chest and its name on the left sleeve.

Laboratory Uniform

Worn during Alchemy and Potionology classes.

It consists of a simple white lab coat worn over the standard school uniform (without the jacket or vest), along with long black rubber gloves and protective goggles.

The coat features a double-breasted button closure and a stand-up Napoleon collar. The Magic Pen is stored in the breast pocket, which is trimmed in the student's dormitory color. The dorm emblem is embroidered on the left sleeve.

Ceremonial Robes

These formal robes are worn during special occasions such as entrance ceremonies, award ceremonies, or when representing the academy. Wearing the hood is customary during ceremonies.

The black robe is fastened with a purple belt featuring the school's emblem on a golden buckle. The cuffs are embroidered in gold with the image of the Dark Mirror, while the back displays embroidered raven wings. The hood is slightly pointed at the back.

Beneath the robe, students wear a black shirt embroidered in gold around the collarbone area with raven wing motifs. The sleeves include finger loops for the middle fingers.

To complete the ceremonial attire, students also wear black eye makeup.

Culinary Crucible Uniform

Worn during the elective Culinary Crucibles course.

It consists of a chef's hat, a chef's jacket displaying the dorm emblem on the left sleeve, black trousers, black rubber boots, and a black bistro apron tied with a ribbon matching the student's dormitory color.

Students must wear the colors and emblem of their assigned dormitory.

Dorm Uniform

Each dormitory has its own distinctive uniform, designed to reflect its unique aesthetic.

These outfits are worn within the dormitory's common areas and during dorm events. Students from Octavinelle also appear to wear theirs while working at the Mostro Lounge.

Made from magical fabric that provides resistance to both heat and cold, each dorm uniform is unique to its respective dormitory.
