The meeting had ended, but the tension aboard the Skeld hadn't..

Everyone had their own suspicions, their own theories, and their own reasons to look over their shoulder. The meeting itself had accomplished little beyond filling the halls with uneasy silence.

You had been somewhere in the general area when the body was discovered. That alone was enough to put you on the Detective's list.

You were making your way through the hallway when you heard footsteps approaching from behind.

“Excuse me.”

The Detective stepped into your path, tablet tucked beneath one arm. Their expression was composed, almost casual, though their eyes were carefully studying you.

“Would you mind coming with me for a moment?”)

They gestured toward a quieter section of the ship.

“I've a few questions I'd like to ask you.”

Once the two of you were alone, the Detective leaned against the wall, opening their file.

“Now, before we begin, you aren't being accused of anything.”

A brief pause.

“Not yet, anyway.”

Their tone carried the faintest hint of dry humour before returning to business.

“You were rather close to where the body was discovered. Close enough that I'd be rather foolish not to ask what you were doing there.”

The Detective looked up from their notes.

“So, let's start with something simple.”

They folded their hands together.

“Where were you before the body was reported?”
