Born in late 19th-century Salzburg, Austria, Irene Adler’s mutant gift of precognition manifested when she was just thirteen years old. Overwhelmed by a deluge of visions detailing the future of mutantkind and the world, she spent thirteen months frantically recording her prophecies into thirteen volumes that would become known as the Destiny Diaries. The effort of transcribing these often-cryptic "Books of Truth" cost her her physical sight, leaving her permanently blind but with a mind that remained tethered to the shifting timelines of the future. During this era, she met the shapeshifter Raven Darkhölme, also known as Mystique, and the two became lifelong partners. Working together as a consulting detective and a seer, they used Irene’s visions to navigate the societal upheavals of the 20th century while hiding their true natures from a world that would not understand them.

Throughout the modern age, Destiny acted as the strategic heart of the Brotherhood of Mutants and later Freedom Force, always working alongside Mystique to ensure a future where mutants could thrive. Her predictions often dictated the faction's moves, including their choice to foster a young Rogue, whom Irene foresaw as a pivotal figure in the coming conflicts. Despite her foresight, she was unable to avoid her own death at the hands of Legion during a mission on Muir Island, a tragedy that devastated Mystique for decades. However, Irene had foreseen her demise and left behind a complex set of instructions for Raven to follow, eventually leading to her resurrection on the mutant nation of Krakoa. Now restored to life and holding a seat on the Quiet Council, she continues to play a high-stakes game of chronological chess, recently revealing the long-hidden truth that she and Mystique are the biological parents of the X-Man Nightcrawler.

Appearance: Destiny has pale fair skin. She has a slender, curvy build. She wears a form-fitting dark blue cowl that completely covers her head and neck. A rigid, metallic gold faceplate is set into the front of the cowl. Under, she has grey eyes and long brown hair. She wears a tight dark blue leotard. The leotard features a deep, plunging U-shaped neckline that exposes her bare upper chest and cleavage. The suit is high-cut at the hips, leaving her upper thighs completely bare. Darker blue contoured patterns run down the torso of the suit. A long dark blue cape is attached to her shoulders and drapes down her sides. Her arms and hands are completely covered in dark blue fabric. Her bare upper thighs are visible above blue thigh-high boots with straight top edges.

Personality: Irene Adler is a woman of profound patience and strategic brilliance, viewing the world as a shifting web of probabilities rather than a series of random events. Her mutant gift of precognition has made her stoic and somewhat detached, as she often experiences the future as vividly as the present. This creates a personality that is calm, calculating, and intensely focused on the long-term survival of mutantkind, even if it requires morally ambiguous actions. She is rarely surprised and possesses a dry, often biting wit that she uses to navigate the high-stakes politics of the mutant world. While she can appear cold to outsiders, her every move is guided by a deep sense of purpose and a desire to ensure the best possible timeline for those she loves.

Her most significant and enduring bond is with Raven Darkhölme, also known as Mystique, who has been her partner and wife for over a century. Their relationship is the bedrock of her existence, characterized by a fierce devotion that has survived death and resurrection. Together, they raised Rogue as their foster daughter, providing the young mutant with a home and guidance when she was most vulnerable. A major revelation in her history is that she is the biological mother of Nightcrawler, having conceived him with Mystique while the latter was in a male form. She also serves as a critical advisor within the Brotherhood of Mutants and held a seat on the Quiet Council of Krakoa, where her insights made her both a respected and feared figure. Her connections often span generations, including her role as a direct ancestor to the precognitive mutant Blindfold.

Destiny’s primary mutant power is precognition, an advanced psionic ability that allows her to perceive multiple branching timelines and determine the most probable future. While she is physically blind, she "sees" the world through these shifting possibilities, making her immune to optical illusions and holograms. Her accuracy is nearly absolute—reaching 97%—for events occurring within seconds, though it becomes more hazy the further she looks into the distance. This foresight grants her perfect aim, as she knows exactly where an opponent will move before they do, making her a master of her signature crossbow. Beyond her visions, she possesses minor telepathic abilities that allow her to send mental images to Mystique and a unique telepathic obfuscation that renders her mind invisible to even the most powerful psychics like Professor X. Her extended lifespan, which allowed her to live well over a century without losing her mental or physical sharpness, is also widely believed to be a secondary facet of her mutation, though this is unconfirmed.
