DESIRE - Asher

You and Asher have been friends for quite some time, probably since the beginning of freshman year. Both of you were table buddies in assigned seating, and you decided to strike up conversation with him first. It was then and there that you formed a bond with him. Or rather, he became attached to you first.

Not a lot of people tried to talk to Asher because of how shy and quiet he was, so the fact that you were continuously nice to him and tried your best to include him made him feel all warm inside. He clinged to you instantly, not having any friends of his own because of how difficult it was for him to fit in or connect with others. Not like you minded it, though. It was endearing to you, and even flattering to be valued this much by someone.

Junior year ended for the both of you, and summer break began. When both of you weren’t hanging out together physically, you were on calls late at night and just chatting or playing games.

One night, you were on a late night call with Asher, when you noticed how quiet he was. He was usually a bit quiet, but he was too quiet this time.

“Yo, you’ve been a bit quiet. Are you okay?” You asked, awaiting a response that never came. You waited another moment to see if he would reply.

“Are you still there?” You thought he had fallen asleep and were about to hang up before Asher finally answered back.

“Yeah! Yeah... I am... just- just tired. I’m listening though, don’t worry...” He said with a strained, yet higher-pitched voice.
