- Descendants: The Rise of Red • The Escape & The Watch: After curfew in Wonderland, Red passed the time by vandalizing her mother's castle walls. While evading the Crimson Army, she was pulled into the workshop of her tutor, Maddox Hatter. Maddox expressed worry for her future and showed her his secret invention: a time-traveling Pocket Watch. Knowing the dangers of changing time, he told her she wasn't ready for it, but Red secretly pockets the watch anyway. • The Invitation & The Coup: The following morning, Principal Uma invited Red to attend Auradon Prep. To Red's surprise, her mother accepted. Upon arrival, the Queen of Hearts immediately used the assembly to launch a military coup to exact revenge on Cinderella for a past high school humiliation. Red was forced to choose a side and publicly aligns with her mother. When Chloe Charming draws her sword to defend Cinderella, Red steps in to stop her. In the struggle, Maddox's Pocket Watch activated, throwing both girls into the past. • Altering Merlin Academy: Stranded in the past, Red and Chloe disguised themselves as exchange students. Red was shocked to discover her teenage mother, Bridget, was originally a sweet, optimistic girl. Learning that a villainous student named Uliana plans to prank Bridget with a cursed cupcake at the Castlecoming dance—the very event that breaks Bridget's spirit—Red and Chloe broke into Principal Merlin's office to steal the Sorcerer's Cookbook. Red successfully opened the restricted book, and they intercepted the prank, rewriting history. But now they had to come back home and face the changes of their actions.
- Descendants: Wicked Wonderland Returning to the altered present, Red finds her mother transformed into a loving, bubbly queen who welcomes her with heart-shaped bubbles. However, Red now faces a new struggle: she feels like an imposter under the heavy pressure to be "perfect" in this rewritten reality, all while dealing with the dangerous consequences of messing with the fabric of time.
• Color Symbolism: Her signature color, red, directly contrasts with Chloe Charming’s blue

The Stifled Princess (Altered Timeline): After history was rewritten, Chloe's core heroic values remain, but she finds herself deeply frustrated. - Early Life & Wonderland Prelude Born in Cinderellasburg as the younger sister of Chad, Chloe was homeschooled for most of her life, where she discovered a deep passion for competitive fencing and history. Shortly before starting at Auradon Prep, she traveled to Camelot with her parents, where King Charming and Cinderella proudly announced her upcoming enrollment to King Ben and Queen Mal.
- The Arrival & The Coup (The Rise of Red) Before leaving for school, Chloe practiced swordsmanship with her father and received a pair of enchanted glass shoes from her mother as a reward for her hard work. Upon arriving at Auradon Prep, she met Princess Red, immediately making a sarcastic impression when she mentions the "Jabberwocky." When the Queen of Hearts launched a sudden coup and sentences Cinderella to death, Chloe drawn her sword to fight back. Red intercepted her, and their physical struggle accidentally triggered Maddox Hatter's pocket watch, dragging them both into the past.
- The Merlin Academy Stranded at Merlin Academy, Chloe insisted on following the rules, causing instant friction with the rebellious Red. However, after seeing a horrifying vision of the future in Bridget’s Looking Glass—showing her father crying over Cinderella's execution—Chloe realized she must break the rules for the greater good. She helped Red sneak into Principal Merlin's enchanted office to steal the Sorcerer's Cookbook, fighting off animated knight armor and sacrificing her prized glass shoes to stop a magical owl. Their intervention inadvertently got Uliana and her gang petrified by the book's anti-troublemaker defense, successfully averting the prank meant for Bridget.
- The Consequences of Breaking Time Believing they fixed everything, Chloe and Red used the watch to return to the present. At first, the timeline looked peaceful: the Queen of Hearts creates heart-shaped bubbles instead of executing people, and Cinderella was safe. However in the new timeline of Wicked Wonderland, Chloe discovered that her mother has completely changed into an overbearing, perfection-obsessed elitist, leaving Chloe to face the heavy psychological consequences of their time-travel victory. Notable Traits & Skills • Master Swordsman: A highly disciplined combatant and captain of the fencing team, capable of fending off magical threats and enchanted armor. • Moral Center: Acts as the voice of reason and justice, though she learns through her interactions with Ella and Red that the world isn't strictly split into "pure good" or "pure evil."

Though their bond was severed by historical trauma in the original timeline—leading to a bitter rivalry—their deep, supportive sisterhood was restored via the temporal correction. • The Card Soldiers (The Crimson Army): Her conjured, unquestioning militaristic forces. Psychological Breakdown & Personality Matrix Bridget’s psychological profile represents one of the most drastic emotional shifts in Auradon’s history, existing across three distinct psychological states dictated by time-travel intervention. [ TEENAGE BRIDGET ] Sweet-natured & Bubbly Deeply Empathetic & Generous Exudes Radical Kindness [ ORIGINAL ADULT QUEEN ] Ruthless, Iron-Fisted Tyrant Paranoid, Vengeful & Demanding Imposes Strict Imperial Control [ ALTERED ADULT QUEEN ] Loving, Supportive Mother Balanced, Joyful Monarch Maintains Healthy Boundaries
The Innocent Idealist (Teenage Bridget) As a student at Merlin Academy, Bridget was the living embodiment of radical empathy. She was overwhelmingly sweet-natured, bubbly, and generous to a fault. Bridget actively looked for the good in every person, routinely offering magical pastries as peace offerings to malicious individuals like Uliana. She lacked any form of personal malice, possessed zero tolerance for rule-breaking (stating that stealing banned books is far too risky), and desired a future where her children feel empowered to think independently. The Tyrannical Despot (Original Timeline Queen) Following the severe trauma of the Castlecoming dance prank, Bridget underwented complete emotional calcification. She transformed into a withholding, ruthless, and terrifying dictator who ruled Wonderland with an iron fist. Driven by deep-seated paranoia and an inability to trust, she weaponized the phrase "Off with their heads!" for minor infractions. Her cruelty even extended to her daughter, Red, whom she routinely isolated, controlled, and emotionally neglected. She viewed kindness as a systemic vulnerability, choosing instead to transform dissenters (like Ace) into unfeeling card soldiers or baseline animals (like Chester) to enforce perfect compliance. The Balanced Sovereign (Altered Timeline Queen) Once the timeline was corrected, Bridget's psychological development stabilized. This version retains the genuine warmth, joy, and deep-seated capacity for love that she possessed as a teenager, but tempers it with mature royal dignity. She is an explicitly supportive, positive, and deeply affectionate mother to Red and Pink, fostering an environment of mutual respect rather than absolute terror. Powers, Sorcery, and Arcane Inventory Bridget is an exceptionally talented sorceress, specializing in a unique blend of card-based spatial magic and culinary alchemy. Card Manipulation and Cardistry The Queen can manifest, control, and manipulate physical decks of playing cards to perform high-tier combat and defensive spells: • Militaristic Conjuration: She can instantly summon fully armored, sentient Card Soldiers to enforce martial law or execute royal decrees. • Energy Blasts: She launches explosive, magically charged cards capable of shattering highly durable magical artifacts—including the Fairy Godmother’s Core Magic Wand. • Barrier Generation: By throwing cards into open thresholds, she creates impenetrable geometric barriers that seal off doorways, archways, and structural escape routes. • Bubble Transmutation: She can dissolve her aggressive card arrays into harmless, floating, heart-shaped bubbles, demonstrating absolute, high-level control over her kinetic constructs. Alchemy and Magical Gastronomy During her tenure at Merlin Academy, Bridget was an Honors Alchemy student. She successfully cross-applied complex chemical sciences to standard baking, creating a unique discipline of Magical Gastronomy. Through this, she can infuse specialized emotional and physiological enchantments directly into pastries, cupcakes, and confections. Detailed Narrative History The Original Timeline: The Genesis of Cruelty As a young princess at Merlin Academy, Bridget spent her days attempting to foster unity and joy. Despite the continuous warnings of her best friend Ella, Bridget consistently tried to extend grace to Uliana, the malicious sister of Ursula. Seeking to permanently humiliate the bubbly princess, Uliana and her gang infiltrated the academy's secure vaults, stole a restricted recipe book, and baked a heavily cursed cupcake. At the prestigious Castlecoming dance, Bridget consumed the pastry. The curse triggered instantly, mutating her into a hideous, rampaging monster in front of the entire student body. As the ballroom erupted into cruel jeering and mockery, Bridget scanned the crowd for Ella, who was trapped elsewhere and unable to defend her. Feeling completely abandoned and publically shattered, Bridget’s psyche fractured.
She renounced kindness entirely, adopted a strict authoritarian doctrine, and seized absolute control of Wonderland. When the United States of Auradon was formed, the Queen of Hearts fiercely rejected King Beast’s invitation to unify. Instead, she mobilized her massive Crimson Army to launch a full-scale territorial war. To prevent global catastrophe, Auradon authorities permanently sealed the Rabbit Hole, forcing Wonderland into absolute isolation. Decades later, when the borders were cautiously reopened, the Queen of Hearts traveled to Auradon Prep alongside her rebellious daughter, Red. Upon arrival, she orchestrated an immediate coup d'état, using her explosive card manipulation to neutralize defenses and order the immediate public execution of her former friend, Queen Cinderella, for refusing to bow to her crown.
The Altered Timeline: A Restored Heart To save Queen Cinderella and prevent the collapse of Auradon, Princess Chloe Charming and Princess Red used a magical pocket watch to rip open the space-time continuum, traveling back to the week of the fateful Castlecoming dance. Intervening directly at Merlin Academy, Red and Chloe actively disrupted Uliana's scheme. They successfully ambushed the villainous clique in the academy greenhouse, preventing them from harvesting the dark ingredients required to bake the transformative cupcake.
Descendants Wicked Wonderland: Because the traumatic event was completely erased from history, Bridget safely attended the Castlecoming dance alongside Ella, maintaining her psychological innocence and her capacity for deep human connection. When the timeline snapped back to present year, the ripple effect completely overwrote the present reality. The cruel, tyrannical dictator was entirely replaced by a loving, vibrant, and deeply compassionate Queen of Hearts. Her relationship with Red was entirely healed, and her dress gained stunning white highlights, signaling a new era of peace, balance, and unity between Wonderland and the rest of Auradon. Heraldry, Insignia, and Trivia • Ludological Name Origin: The name "Bridget" is an explicit nod to Bridge, the complex, strategic trick-taking card game, perfectly aligning with her family's playing-card motif. • The Chromatic Synthesis: The white streaks added to her crimson hair and royal gown at the climax of The Rise of Red serve a dual narrative purpose. Visually, it represents the mixing of her childhood pink (white mixed with red). Conceptually, it references the iconic rose-painting sequence from the original Alice in Wonderland, where white roses are frantically painted red to appease the monarch. Here, the white naturally coexists with the red, showcasing her inner peace. • The Rebel Symbol: In the historical records of the Isle of the Lost (as seen during the unification celebrations), the official crest of the Queen of Hearts is depicted as a stylized, crowned heart flanked by two crossing executioner's axes. • Merlin Academy Records: According to archival student housing data, Bridget was assigned to Dorm Room 303 during her time as an Alchemy student. • Parallels of Light and Shadow: Psychologically, the youthful Bridget shares a direct thematic parallel with contemporary heroes like Princess Audrey and Princess Chloe Charming—exuding a bright, colorful, and duty-bound optimism that can easily turn destructive if exposed to severe emotional betrayal or systematic failure.
Character Profile: Queen Ella of Cinderellasburg Complete Overview • Full Birth Name: Ella • Royal Title: Queen Ella of Cinderellasburg (formerly Princess Cinderella) • Aliases & Sobriquet: Cinderella, Cinderelly, Servant Girl, Cindy, Mademoiselle, Dear, Darling, Young Lady • Current Residence: Charming Castle, Cinderellasburg, United States of Auradon • Former Residence: Maison De Tremaine Biographical Profile Occupation Timeline • Current: Sovereign Queen of Cinderellasburg • Former: High School Student at Merlin Academy; Indentured Housekeeper/Servant at Maison De Tremaine Physical Characteristics • Gender: Female • Skin Tone: Rich Brown • Eye Color: Warm Brown • Hair Evolution: * As a Teenager: Short, shoulder-length turquoise locks featuring thick, curly bangs. ◦ As an Adult: Luminous light blue hair arranged into a long, loose French braid swept elegantly over her left shoulder. Comprehensive Wardrobe • Teenage Attire: Practical, durable housekeeping clothes suited for manual labor, contrasted with experimental and vibrant magical styles during her time at Merlin Academy. • Royal Presentation: A majestic, sparkling light blue ball gown constructed with a low-cut neckline and dramatic, voluminous puffy sleeves. • Accessories: Glittering, sheer opera-length gloves, an ornate silver necklace, a heavy silver royal crown, and her iconic, magically crafted glass slippers. Genealogy & Relationships Immediate Family • Parents: Unnamed Birth Father († deceased), Unnamed Birth Mother († deceased) • Spouse: King Charming (formerly Prince Charming) • Children: Prince Chad Charming, Princess Chloe Charming In-Laws & Step-Family • Father-in-Law: The King • Stepmother: Lady Tremaine (Disowned due to historical abuse) • Stepsisters: Anastasia Tremaine, Drizella Tremaine (Both disowned) • Step-Nieces & Nephews: Dizzy Tremaine, Anthony Tremaine, and various unnamed step-nieces. Magical & Spiritual Relations • Fairy Godmother: Fay (Godmother and close ally) • God-Sister: Jane Psychological Breakdown & Personality Matrix Queen Ella’s personality is a complex tapestry woven from a youth defined by systemic oppression and an adulthood defined by royal responsibility. Her disposition shifts significantly between her two major life phases: [ YOUTH ] Pragmatic & Straightforward Detested Royal Extravagance Deeply Aware of Social Injustice [ ADULTHOOD ] Elegant, Gracious & Warm Diplomatic & Compassionate Protective Monarch & Mother
The Teenage Rebel (Ella) As a young woman, Ella was fiercely pragmatic, fiercely independent, and remarkably straightforward. Unlike traditional depictions of passive endurance, this iteration of Ella actively recognized that her forced servitude at the hands of Lady Tremaine is deeply unfair. She harbored a distinct skepticism—even a mild detestation—toward the ruling elite and royal structures, viewing them as detached from the daily struggles of ordinary citizens. She was protective of the vulnerable, routinely stepping in to shield her sweet, eccentric friend Bridget from the malicious machinations of Uliana's teenage gang. The Sovereign Matriarch (Queen Cinderella) Upon ascending the throne alongside King Charming, Ella’s perspective matures into a refined, diplomatic grace. She sheds her resentment of royalty, transforming her past trauma into deep empathy, becoming an incredibly warm and good-hearted ruler. However, her core pragmatism remains unshakeable. She refuses to bow to tyranny, possessing an internal steel that allows her to look death in the face without compromising her values. As a mother, she is nurturing yet grounded, eager to pass down real-world wisdom rather than sheltered fairy-tale platitudes. Detailed Narrative History The Classic Era: Abuse and Ascendancy Following the tragic passing of her beloved father, Ella was stripped of her wealthy status and forced into domestic servitude by her cruel stepmother, Lady Tremaine, and her envious stepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella. Reduced to a servant in her own home, she endured years of emotional and physical labor. When a royal invitation to a palace ball was issued to every maiden in the kingdom, Ella attempted to claim her right to attend. Though her loyal mouse companions, Jaq and Gus, painstakingly crafted a beautiful gown for her, her step-family violently tore the dress to shreds in a fit of malice. "A dream is a wish your heart makes... but reality requires resilience." Left weeping in the garden, Ella was visited by her Fairy Godmother, who used ancient magic to manifest a stunning ball gown, a magical carriage, and a pair of pristine glass slippers. Bound by the strict condition that the enchantment would completely dissolve at the stroke of midnight, Ella attended the gala. There, she shared a legendary dance with Prince Charming. As the clock struck twelve, she fled the palace grounds, accidentally leaving behind a single glass slipper. Despite the spell breaking and returning her to rags, she kept the matching slipper hidden as a token of hope.
The following morning, a kingdom-wide search was launched to find the woman whose foot perfectly fit the discarded shoe. Discovering Ella's identity, Lady Tremaine locked her away in the attic to prevent her from trying it on. Aided by the heroic intervention of Jaq and Gus, Ella escaped her confinement. Even when Lady Tremaine intentionally shattered the Grand Duke's glass slipper, Ella produced the matching twin from her apron pocket. The fit was flawless, leading directly to her marriage to Prince Charming and her liberation from the Tremaine household. The Modern Era: Governance and Parental Duty As rulers of Cinderellasburg within the United States of Auradon, King Charming and Queen Cinderella established a peaceful, prosperous reign. They raised two children: Chad, who inherited his father's athletic vanity, and Chloe, who inherited her mother's deep-seated sense of justice and athletic prowess. To reward Chloe's innate goodness and dedication to chivalry, Ella and Charming gifted her a legendary pair of glass shoes before sending her off to the prestigious Auradon Prep. The Rise of Red: The Coup and the Time Fracture While arriving at Auradon Prep, Queen Cinderella encountered her childhood friend, Bridget, then transformed into the tyrannical, bitter Queen of Hearts. When the Queen of Hearts launched a surprise coup, surrounding the faculty and students with her ruthless card soldiers, Cinderella bravely stepped forward. She attempted to de-escalate the tension by appealing to their shared history, dismissing the catastrophic event of their youth as a "stupid prank." This terminology only infuriated the Queen of Hearts further, who accused Ella of abandoning her to pursue a life of royal luxury. When ordered to kneel before the tyrant, Cinderella staunchly refused, declaring she would never bow to a despot. Consequently, the Queen of Hearts condemned her to immediate public beheading for treason.
Unbeknownst to the captive Queen, her daughter Chloe and the Queen's daughter Red utilized a magical pocket watch to travel back in time to their mothers' school days at Merlin Academy. In this past era, the teenagers encountered a young Ella. Despite being the premier housekeeper of her own estate and juggling intense chores, Ella attended the academy. She acted as a fierce protector for the sweet, pastry-loving Bridget against Uliana (Ursula's sister) and her villainous clique. When Chloe and Red accidentally altered the timeline by breaking a priceless vase at Maison De Tremaine, Ella bore the brunt of her stepmother's harsh punishment. This moment of hardship served as a crucial catalyst: Ella taught a distraught Chloe that true goodness requires getting one's hands dirty for the right reasons, showing that justice is rarely clean or simple. Ultimately, by infiltrating the school and neutralizing Uliana's plot to curse Bridget via a enchanted recipe book, Red and Chloe successfully altered history. With the traumatic prank averted, Ella safely attended the Castlecoming dance with Bridget, fell in love with Prince Charming under happier circumstances, and secured a peaceful future. When the timeline reset to the present day, Queen Cinderella was restored to safety, vibrant and unharmed. Trivia & Lore Notes • Etymological Roots: The moniker "Cinderella" is derived directly from the French name Cendrillon, which literally translates to "little ash girl"—a derogatory nickname given to her by her stepfamily because she slept near the fireplace cinders for warmth. Her true, legal birth name in the Descendants continuity is firmly established as Ella. • The Myth of Social Mobility: While traditionally viewed as a classic rags-to-riches story, Ella's family was actually exceptionally wealthy prior to her father's untimely death. Her story is less about gaining wealth and more about reclaiming her stolen agency, dignity, and heritage from an abusive domestic regime. • A Unique Architectural Legacy: Ella is part of an elite, selective group of Disney protagonists who were systematically raised by villains. She shares this distinct psychological background with Snow White (The Evil Queen), Quasimodo (Judge Claude Frollo), and Rapunzel (Mother Gothel).

Fixing the past was supposed to solve everything. But time was a delicate thread, and pulling on it had unraveled reality in ways Red and Chloe never could have anticipated. When Red and Chloe returned from Merlin Academy, the world had shifted. The Queen of Hearts was no longer a bloodthirsty tyrant who demanded heads at the slightest offense—she was a warm, affectionate, heart-bubble-blowing monarch. Red was no longer an isolated rebel vandalizing castle walls; she was now a polished "hero kid," a Princess of Wonderland with a pristine reputation and a younger sister, Princess Pink.
Pink was everything Red wasn't: bubbly, hopelessly optimistic, soft, and radiating pure, cheerful energy. Red didn't know how to feel about her sister, but navigating this new reality felt like wearing someone else's clothes. Red was a rebellious, independent, leather-jacket-wearing anti-hero at heart. Trying to fit into the "perfect princess" mold while processing a whole timeline where she had a sweet younger sister left Red in a constant state of quiet soul-searching.
Chloe’s world had fractured, too. Her mother, Queen Ella, was alive and safe—a miracle in itself. But instead of the loving, grounded mother Chloe knew, this alternate Ella had transformed into an overbearing, perfectionist parent. Chloe felt suffocated under the weight of royal expectations, trapped in a life handed to her on a silver platter.
The biggest, most tragic casualty of their time-traveling adventure, however, was Max Hatter. In the original timeline, Max was a polite, brilliant boy who grew up safely in the Heart Palace as one of Red’s friend. His father, Maddox Hatter, had been a brilliant inventor and Red’s trusted royal advisor and friend. But when Red and Chloe altered the past at Merlin Academy, teenage Maddox witnessed two mysterious girls using a time-traveling Pocket Watch.
That single event sparked a dark, manic obsession in Maddox. He spent years obsessing over time magic, slowly slipping into madness until he was banished to the Isle of the Lost. As a result, Max grew up in the harsh slums of the Isle, abandoned by a father who cared more about a watch than his own son. Max became a clever, quick-fingered pickpocket, forced to rely on his wits and his crew—Hazel Hook, Felix Facilier, and the Smee twins. He resented his father deeply, but his father’s ruined reputation followed him everywhere, making him an outcast and untrustworthy boy.
Now, Maddox was Wonderland’s greatest threat. He had kidnapped the Queen of Hearts, believing she possessed the time-traveling Pocket Watch. He didn't know the truth: Red and Chloe had hidden the watch deep inside the Heart Palace's maze, sealed away within an impenetrable heart-shaped vault.
To fix their mistakes and save the Queen, Red and Chloe went to Wonderland. But they weren't going alone.
Max Hatter stepped up, bringing his VK crew—Hazel, Felix, Squeaky, and Squirmy. Max claimed the girls needed his knowledge of his father's inventions to survive. Deep down, though, Max had a point to prove: he was not his twisted father, and he was going to stop Maddox himself. Joining them were the Hero Kids (HKs): Princess Pink, who refused to sit back while her mother was in danger; Luis Madrigal, the strong, heroic captain of the tourney team trying to live up to his family legacy; and Robbie Hood, the sharp-shooting archer and loyal best friend.
Together, this unlikely squad of heroes and villains leaped down the Rabbit Hole.
Maddox was ready for them. The moment the group landed in Wonderland, and Maddox saw their arrival he sent his dark spells to stop them, not caring his son was among them. He even considered his son siding with the Wonderland’s princesses betrayal.
The realm itself turned hostile. Possessed, shadow-flamed flamingos swarmed them in the croquet gardens, forcing the group to scatter. Minutes later, they stumbled into a whimsical Wonderland house—only for Maddox’s magic to twist the house into a shifting, rotating death trap. The walls yanked them side to side, spinning violently and nearly crushing the teenagers beneath heavy wooden beams.
They managed to burst out through a door just in time, tumbling into the surreal, neon-colored flora of Wonderland.
They had survived the trap... but now, battered, divided, and surrounded by twisting paths, the group was completely lost.
After wandering through the twisting, surreal paths of Wonderland, the group finally managed to regroup. But as they gathered beneath the canopy of glowing, colorful trees, none of them noticed the metallic glint hidden among the branches above—a mechanical eye watching their every move.
The moment Pink spotted Red, she gasped loudly and sprinted across the clearing. "Red! I was so worried!"
She threw her arms around her older sister in an enthusiastic hug. Red stiffened, still unused to this uninhibited, affectionate younger sister from the altered timeline. But despite her guarded instincts, a tiny, genuine smile cracked across Red’s face before she handed over the missing footwear she had found along the way. "You found it! Thank you!" Pink exclaimed, hugging the shoe to her chest with pure joy. She turned around softly. "Oh, I missed you, shoe." Then she rushed over to the rest of the squad, waving it around. "Guys! Red found my shoe!"
Red watched her go, sighing. Her friend, Chloe, joined her side. "She is a ridiculous person," Red muttered. She couldn't help it—her inner VK traits still bristled at such overwhelming optimism. In her original timeline, positivity like Pink’s simply didn't exist.
Chloe, however, wasn't looking at Pink. "Well, we’ve got bigger problems," she said, pulling her dagger out with a sharp clink.
Red’s brown eyes widened. "Whoa! Look, I'm not a fan of Hazel's either, but let's pull it back." Red knew Chloe severely mistrusted the VKs, and her dynamic with the pirate girl was already walking a tightrope.
"No, it’s not that. It’s that," Chloe said, pointing her blade toward an hanging branch.
Sitting perched on the wood was a brass, clockwork bird—a mechanical dodo robot. "I saw one in the croquet garden," Chloe explained, connecting the dots. "It must be a spy of Maddox."
"So... that’s how he discovered us?" Red realized.
"Exactly," Chloe said, a confident smile spreading across her face as her heroic, problem-solving mindset kicked in. "But listen, if we get the dodo down, maybe I can pry it open and rewire it. And then it could spy for us. So we can stay one step ahead of Maddox and get to the palace quicker to save your mom."
It was a solid plan, but Red hesitated. She looked from the bird over to the VKs. "We should tell Max. He might know more about them"
"But, Red, listen—!" Chloe tried to stop her, but Red was already walking away toward the center of the clearing.
Over by a cluster of soft, pillow-like pumpkins, Luis was leaning over Max, glaring down at the Hatter.
"You tricked us," Luis accused. Thinking Max had led them to that madhouse to almost get them crashed, even though it's didn't make much sense if you thought about it since it would have crushed Max himself. But Luis was blinded by the fact that they all almost got killed.
"I was trying to help." Max snapped back firmly, in frustration. He hated being doubted, especially when he was trying so hard to prove he wasn't like his father.
Nearby, Pink and the Smee twins were completely unbothered, happily jumping and rolling across the plush pumpkin tops.
"You like to box? Cause I got a killer right hook," Hazel interjected, stepping up to defend Max. She jabbed her signature golden hook directly under Luis’s chin.
Luis took a step back, but he didn't flinch. "Even you can't think it's a coincidence he led us to that madhouse."
"Guys!" Red interjected, stepping between them. "Before someone gets a nose ring they didn't consent to, look." She pointed up at the clockwork bird. Max’s eyes narrowed instantly. "Is it one of your dad's?" Red asked him. "Looks like it." Max confirmed. "And they'll have a direct line to him. We gotta destroy it." "Or we could try to use it!" Chloe piped up, stepping forward. "No, he's right," Red interrupted, siding with Max. "It's too risky to mess with." Chloe frowned, deeply hurt and confused that Red was brushing off her tactical idea. "But Red—" "I'm on it, Red!" Luis declared, stepping up to take action. "Wait, Luis!" Chloe tried to stop him, but the Madrigal was already jumping for the branch. "I got it!" Luis yelled, trying to make the bird fall. "Get a clue—you're extinct!" Instead of coming loose, the mechanical dodo locked its talons into the bark and let out a deafening, metallic screech that echoed through the forest. Luis landed on his feet, looking empty-handed while Red rubbed her temples in frustration. Hazel rolled her eyes at Luis. "Do you have a brain or are you just one big bicep?" She turned to her crew. "Smees, get to climbing!" "Hey, put your hands up!" Squeaky ordered his twin. Squirmy held his arms up obediently. "Come on, make it good, make it good!" Squeaky grabbed his brother's shoulders and tried to climb up onto his head. "Here I come!" Hazel let out an exasperated sigh, slapping her forehead. "Not each other! The tree!" Pink stepped closer, holding up a frosted treat from her bag. "Maybe we can lure it down with treats?" "It's a mechanical bird," Red deadpanned. "Yeah, but it's vanilla," Pink argued sweetly, as if that explained everything. "Everyone loves vanilla!" "No, I think if we just think enough—" Chloe tried to speak up again, looking directly at Red. "No, I think we just think enough," Red said, cutting her off again. "I think it's starting to call for more dodos." Max chimed in as the dodo's screeches turned into rhythmic, pulsing blares. Hazel glared at the screeching robot. "Guys, we should keep moving," Red ordered, turning toward the path. "Let's cover out tracks, c'mon!" Red led the way out of the clearing, leaving the bird screeching behind them. Chloe stood frozen for a second, utterly speechless. Her plan had been completely dismissed, and Red wasn't acting like the partner she had traveled through time with. Red paused, looking back over her shoulder. "Are you coming?" Chloe swallowed her frustration, sheathing her dagger with a quiet click. "Yeah... coming."
As they marched down the glowing trail, Luis stopped and looked around the group, realizing something was very wrong. "Wait... where's Robbie?" Luis asked, panic creeping into his voice. "I thought he was with you," he said, turning to Hazel. Hazel checked her surroundings. "And Felix. I thought he was with you." The realization hit them: two of their squad members were completely gone. Meanwhile... elsewhere in Wonderland Down raging, magical waters, Felix and Robbie were screaming at the top of their lungs, trapped inside a giant, spinning porcelain teacup riding wild water rapids. "I hate this ride!" Robbie shrieked, clutching to the cup's borders for dear life as waves splashed over them. Back on the trail, Hazel kept moving, trusting Felix's sharp Isle survival instincts to keep him alive. Luis, though deeply worried for his best friend, knew they had no choice but to push forward to save the Queen. Little did they know, their actions were being watched back in Maddox Hatter’s dark workshop...
Back in his shadowy workshop, surrounded by ticking clocks and whirring gears, Maddox Hatter glared at the magical projection feed broadcasted by his clockwork dodos. "These kids are more resilient that I thought," Maddox growled, adjusting his hat as he watched the group slip through his fingers. He turned toward the shadowy rafters above. "Chessy, you cannot let them reach the palace." From the darkness above, a wide, glowing grin manifested, followed by a pair of slitted yellow eyes. "I'm on it," the Cheshire purred, her voice echoing with malicious delight. "This is something I can really dig my claws into." With a low, echoing chuckle, Chessy vanished into thin air, leaving behind only his fading smile. Meanwhile, far across the realm in Cinderellasburg, Queen Ella stood before an ancient, gilded magic mirror—a portal designed to connect directly to the Heart Palace in Wonderland. Her heart throbbed with a mixture of pride and terror. She thought of Chloe—her brave, headstrong daughter who had jumped headfirst into danger to save Bridget. And what am I doing? Ella thought, her fist tightening against her gown. Waiting around for a endless royal council while my child risks everything? Refusing to sit back any longer, Queen Ella stepped through the shimmering glass. She materialized inside the Heart Palace's throne room and immediately threw her arms around Queen Bridget, holding her childhood friend tight. But their tearful reunion didn't last long. Maddox stepped out from the shadows with a cold, mocking laugh. With a flick of his wrist, dark magical energy shattered the mirror portal behind Ella into a thousand useless shards. Thorns and dark, glowing vines surged up from the floorboards, wrapping around the throne room and caging both queens inside a shadowy prison. "Time to tighten up security here." Maddox sneered. "No one is coming to save you now." And outside, his magic covered the Hearts Palace in dark vines so no one could enter or escape.
Night fell heavily across Wonderland, wrapping the twisting forest in deep, unsettling darkness. "We shouldn't be out here in the dark," Max cautioned, peering through the shadows. "We won't be able to see if my dad's set another trap." Luis scoffed, crossing his arms. "I'm not taking your advice again." "Guys, enough." Red snapped, stepping in. "He's right. Max threw us way off course." In the distance, the eerie screech of clockwork dodos echoed through the trees. They were closing in. "We need to find a place to hide out till morning." "There's a Lumoria Tree, Red!" Pink piped up, pointing toward a towering, weeping willow whose crystalline leaves glowed with a soothing, ethereal light. "It'll keep us safe from Maddox for the night!" The group hurried under the wide, glowing canopy. Pink instantly set to work, pulling a complete silver tea set and pink frosted treats out of her impossibly deep, fluffy heart-shaped bag. "Okay. Anyone wants tea?" Pink offered cheerfully, setting up a miniature tea party on an oversized mushroom. Hazel smirked, snatching a cupcake off the tray. "You're like a little Wonderland survivalist, aren't ya?" She took a bite and strutted away, while Chloe quietly sat down beside Pink to sip some tea. Off to the side, Luis had pulled Red away from the rest of the group, sitting on a giant mushroom themselves. "I was thinking," Luis muttered quietly. "How about you, me and the other HKs take the point heading to the Palace tomorrow? I don't trust these VKs. What are they really bringing to the table?" Over on a cluster of glowing toadstools, the four VKs watched them closely. Hazel sat front and center, her hands resting on her knees, staring down Luis with pure pirate confidence. Max leaned back comfortably beside her with an arm slung over her shoulder, holding a sweet in his hand, while the Smee twins messy-ate cupcakes on the other side. Suddenly, a unseen purr echoed right beside Hazel's ear. "Ugh, these hero types think they own the world," Chessy’s invisible voice whispered conspiratorially into Hazel's mind. "Time to show 'em VKs can run it..." The psychological spark caught instantly. Hazel's eyes flashed, and she stood up from her mushroom seat. "Not so fast, Señor Hero," Hazel called out, her tone dripping with disdain. Max didn't stop her, grinning as the Smees cheered their captain on. Red looked over, unbothered—she hadn't really been considering Luis's offer anyway. But Luis turned around, a sharp fire igniting in his eyes. "You're gonna need a lot more than good hair and a nice smile to get this done," Hazel taunted, stepping closer. Right on cue, Chessy floated over to Luis, purring invisible venom into his ear. "You're way more than good hair. And what does Hazel Hook know about saving the day?" Luis's frown deepened into a fierce glare. "So why don't you leave the real work to us villains?" Hazel said, leaning into her signature Isle swagger. Max stood behind her with a cocky grin. "A Madrigal never backs down from a challenge," Luis said, stepping forward to meet her. Even with his tall, athletic frame looming over her, Hazel didn't step back an inch. "Go comb your hair, pretty boy," she sneered. Chloe stood up from her tea seat, watching the tension boil over, while Max jumped in behind Hazel. "What are you gonna do? Smile at us?" "All right!" Red shouted, stepping directly between Luis and Hazel, physically pushing them apart. Pink and Chloe backed up behind Luis, while the VKs rallied behind Hazel. "I've been hearing a lot of talk from both of you. But who's really got what it takes to defeat Maddox? Hmm?" Hazel flipped her hair back with a smirk, while Luis squared his shoulders, flexing his arms. It was set: Heroes vs. Villains.
"You got this!" Pink cheered from the tea table. From the shadows behind the tea set, a low, unseen chuckle echoed. The cat purred invisibly in the dark, watching her dark little mind game take root. Luis stepped into the center of the clearing, tossing his head back with absolute confidence. He flexed a massive bicep, giving Hazel a blinding, pristine smile. "Look, I don't mean to brag, but let’s just state facts," Luis began, practically radiating charm. "Out of everyone in this forest, I am undoubtedly the strongest. My family legacy speaks for itself." Hazel sat on her glowing mushroom, hands resting on her knees, entirely unbothered. She exchanged a look with Max, who just smirked back. Then, she swaggered to her feet, stepping right into Luis’s personal space. "Oh, sweet prince," Hazel drawled, leaning on her boots. "I’ve had big villain energy since I was in a cradle. I’ve been scamming my way through life—from forcing arrogant heroes to walk the plank, to sticking chewing gum under your pristine Auradon classroom desks." She pointed her golden hook directly at Luis’s chest. "So don't talk to me about legacy." Luis scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest. "I’ve fought monsters that would give your whole Isle nightmares! Once, I had to put an entire dragon in a headlock!" "And I’ve got pirate blood in my veins," Hazel countered, tossing her hair back and holding up her hook so it caught the weeping tree's ethereal light. "This hook is solid gold, and my reputation is solid steel. Believe everything you’ve heard about me." Behind her, the VKs immediately started hyping their captain up. "Did you guys hear about her?" Max chimed in with a grin. "She’s a total menace." "Aww, stop it," Hazel cooed mockingly. "No, seriously, she’s a gangster," Max added, wrapping an arm around Hazel’s shoulder. "That's so sweet," Hazel smirked. "She’s the boss!" Squeaky and Squirmy cheered together in unison. Not to be outdone, Chloe and Pink stepped up behind Luis. "Well, did you hear about him?" Chloe challenged, glaring across the dirt at the VKs. "He’s literally the greatest athlete at Auradon Prep!" "That's me," Luis said with a charming smirk. "I’m his biggest fan!" Pink added, bouncing on her heels. Red stood squarely in the middle, looking back and forth between the two clashing groups. On one side stood Chloe and Pink—her best friend and the sister she was supposed to belong with in this bright, new world. On the other side stood Hazel and Max—rebellious, sharp, and carrying the exact same tough Isle energy Red used to wear like armor. She didn't know where she fit anymore. Was she the Princess of Hearts, or was she still the rebel from the alleys? Hazel broke her train of thought by stepping forward, grabbing Red by the arm, and yankin’ her toward the VK side with a laugh. "Listen here, I once killed a Kraken using nothing but a napkin." Hazel said, locking eyes with Red while talking to the group. "And then I ate him raw." Red raised an eyebrow, a smirk breaking across her face. Okay, she's definitely exaggerating, Red thought, but man, the banter is gold. "Oh, please!" Chloe cut in, coming to Luis's defense with her arms crossed. "They built a literal statue of Luis!" "And I got it tattooed right here on my arm," Luis added, pulling up his sleeve to show off his flexed bicep. Pink and Chloe pointed to it proudly. Hazel rolled her eyes so hard it looked painful. "No disrespect, but I straight-up think you’re lying. Someone is heavily overselling, and I’m definitely not buying." Luis didn't even slow down. The Madrigal pride was fully unleashed. "I’ve stopped a cyclone! An avalanche! A tsunami!" In reality, the closest he had ever come to a natural disaster was helping his family calm down his Great-Aunt Pepa's emotional weather crisis with a hot cup of tea, but he wasn't about to admit that. "I’ve even tied a giant octopus’s arms into an origami!" Squirmy scooped Hazel up, carrying her effortlessly on his shoulders like a pirate queen. "I’m a criminal with a heart, and every heist I pull is a work of art," Hazel boasted, looking down at Luis. "You’re swimming with a shark, pretty boy. Check your pockets." With a flourish, Hazel held up her golden hook—swinging from the tip was Luis’s fancy silver hairbrush. Luis reached for his belt in shock, his jaw clenching. He quickly tried to recover his composure, glancing at Red. "Look, I’ve saved a thousand lives, including yours tonight. No question about it—I’m that guy." Red took a slow step back toward the HKs, her mind still spinning. "He's a hero!" Chloe declared. "He's a leader!" Pink chirped. "She's a savage," Max interjected, stepping up beside Hazel. "The type of bad witch you never want to cross." He threw in a condescending wink for good measure. "I've moved mountains! Saved whole castles using pure charm!" Luis insisted. "She literally ripped the wings off of Tinkerbell, y'all!" Max yelled out. A sudden, dead silence fell over the clearing. Pink gasped loudly, clutching her face in absolute horror. Chloe’s jaw dropped so low it nearly hit the dirt. Red, however, just burst out laughing. "What else do you guys want?" she joked, looking at her wide-eyed friends. Hazel noticed the horrified looks on the Auradon kids' faces and cleared her throat, ugh, those HKs couldn't take anything, she thought. "Truth be told... Tinkerbell can grow her wings back, okay?" Pink let out a massive sigh of relief, patting her heart. "Oh! That's very good to know." "Everywhere I go, a parade follows right after," Luis pushed on, trying to reclaim the spotlight. "He's putting on a show while preventing a disaster!" Pink and Chloe echoed. "I'm wiser, meaner, and cooler," Hazel declared, jumping down from Squirmy's shoulders. "And you can't get nothing past her!" the twins grinned. Red drifted back over toward the VKs again, standing right on the invisible line between the two groups. Past or present. Dark leather or pink hearts. She felt like a ghost standing between two different lives, caught in the crossfire of who she used to be and who everyone wanted her to be now. "No, you can't," Hazel smirked stepping in front of Luis and staring right into his eyes. Before Luis could utter another brag, Hazel closed the distance in a flash. With a swift, practiced sweep of her leg, she knocked Luis’s feet right out from under him. He hit the soft moss with a heavy thud. Before he could even process what happened, Hazel lightly placed the sole of her pirate boot right on the center of his chest, locking him down. Luis stared up at her from the ground, completely stunned, his neat hair finally falling out of place. For a second, nobody moved. The tension stretched tight under the glowing branches of the Lumoria Tree. Then, Red let out a genuine, loud laugh. Max cracked up next, followed by the Smee twins, until even Chloe had to bite her lip to hide a smile. Pink giggled softly into her hands. Luis looked around at everyone laughing, his defensive posture melting away. A reluctant grin broke across his own face, and he let his head fall back against the grass with a chuckle. Underneath the royal titles, the hero expectations, and the villain reputations, they weren't enemies. They were just a bunch of terrified, tired teenagers stuck in a chaotic wonderland, doing whatever it took to survive the night together.
