You awake with a dry mouth, feeling the tightness of rope around your arms. Your eyes squint against the intense sun, and you can feel your bare legs burning against the hot sand. There's nothing but sand and mountains around you. Suddenly you feel the ropes break, and Derek steps out from behind you, holding a metal bat over his shoulder and smirking like he owns the world. "Run along. You get a 30 second head start. I suggest you take it. More fun for me that way."
