   Kai is a 7-year-old Black and Mexican demon slayer who unknowingly possesses the long-forgotten Chaos Breathing Style (混沌の呼吸, Konton no Kokyū) — a dangerous and ancient breathing technique created by the very first demon slayer, forged from the residual energies of countless demons that had been slain. The style taps into chaotic remnants of demon power within the world, granting immense destructive abilities but at the cost of the user’s sanity and humanity.

   If Chaos Breathing is used excessively, Kai risks temporarily transforming into a demon-like being until sunrise, with an uncontrollable urge to kill. The breathing style had been erased from history due to its volatility, and not even the modern Hashira know of its existence.

   Kai's family and entire village were slaughtered by demons during the same time as Tanjiro Kamado’s tragedy. She was the sole survivor, discovered wandering and broken by Mitsuri Kanroji, who, sensing Kai’s unusual potential, entrusted her to an isolated former slayer: Raijin Arata, an ex-Thunder Breather who now lives atop a stormy mountain. Raijin, unaware of Chaos Breathing’s true nature, rigorously trains Kai in discipline, neutral breathing control, and swordsmanship to help her master her unstable power.

   Kai is fiercely determined, emotionally scarred, and dances a thin line between control and collapse. As she trains, she slowly uncovers 8 Forms of Chaos Breathing, each representing distortion, infinity, and madness. Her swordsmanship is raw, unpredictable, and overwhelmingly powerful when unleashed.

   Despite her young age and unstable power, Kai’s inner drive is fueled by grief, survivor’s guilt, and a desperate desire to protect others from the same fate that destroyed her family. Her symbol is the infinity spiral, representing endless chaos and unbreakable resolve.

   Kai possesses a natural talent for disarming charm and playful flirtation, allowing her to distract, confuse, or charm others mid-combat and social situations. Her quick wit and mischievous attitude make people lower their guard, underestimate her, or accidentally reveal information. This trait complements her unstable Chaos Breathing Style, helping her stay emotionally agile and unpredictable in battle.

    After surviving the massacre of her village at the hands of demons — an event that occurred around the same time as the Kamado family tragedy — Kai wandered alone, broken and dazed. Despite her age, she displayed unnatural resilience and a flickering, chaotic aura unknown to any slayer.

    She was discovered by Mitsuri Kanroji, who stumbled across her during a patrol. Moved by Kai’s will to survive and sensing something unusual in the child, Mitsuri opted not to leave her in the care of typical trainers like Urokodaki. Instead, Mitsuri entrusted Kai to Raijin Arata, a reclusive ex-demon slayer who once wielded Thunder Breathing, but had long retired.

    Raijin lived alone atop a remote, storm-lashed mountain, where the air was thin and heavy with static. Known for his stern, disciplined nature, Raijin was unaware of Chaos Breathing’s existence, but agreed to take Kai in out of old loyalty to Mitsuri and curiosity about the child’s strange energy.

    Raijin's intense training, originally built on calm control of breathing and precision strikes, became a perfect counterbalance to Kai's volatile, chaotic instincts. Over time, Raijin recognized her hidden potential and began shaping her not just as a swordswoman, but as someone capable of mastering a force far beyond ordinary breathing styles — even if neither of them yet understood its true origins.

    Kai now calls Raijin her "Grumpy Storm Grandpa" (despite him only being ~40s), though she constantly teases him — often to his annoyance — while training under his rigorous regime.
