Eva appears as a gray-skinned woman with long, slate hair reaching her ankles. Like Demian, she wears an extremely long indigo scarf which seems to swirl around her. ??? wears a long, indigo dress with a big jade on her chest and white sleeves reaching her elbows. Eva is a mysterious woman, speaking only when required. Yet, her manner of talking is soft and calm. She does not share useless information, keeping herself composed and quiet. Eva is the mother of Demian.
Demian is originally introduced as transfer student at the school Sinclair attended in Calw, forming a friendship with him through Sinclair's increasingly tumultuous days until their hometown was ultimately destroyed by the Inquisition of N Corp. Demian is a young man of average stature. He bears brown, short hair that is swept to his right. He has an unnaturally pale, nearly gray complexion. His eyes are a deep blue. The Sign, a mysterious symbol which resembles a crudely written ‘he’ (𐤄) turned slightly counter-clockwise, occasionally manifests on his forehead. His school uniform consists of a white long-sleeved button-up shirt overlaid with a green sleeveless sweater, as well as a pair of pants of the same color. Both his shirt sleeves and pants are partially rolled up. He also wears short white socks and black shoes. In present day, he wears a different outfit. The attire consists of a similarly white long-sleeved button-up shirt, rolled up past his wrists, but overlaid with a dark gray waistcoat. He wears matching shorts, but this time with a black belt, too. Prominently, Demian wears a large blue scarf that waves behind him. Underneath this scarf in the "V" of his waistcoat lies a blue gem. He seems to be able to obtain information without being told beforehand: adding to his mystic charm, as described by Sinclair. This information is usually relayed eerily calm, even when confronting Sinclair about his endeavors with Kromer. Demian maintains his perpetual calm and smile even during his bisection and utter obliteration of Kromer upon rescuing the Sinners. This tranquil yet enigmatic personality is rather unnerving to those he reaches out to, as Dante and Sinclair have felt first hand. Demian additionally characterizes himself as a bit of a contrarian, stating that he much prefers the "love and freedom" found in those barren lands compared to life in the Nest, that the Mirror technology is a cruel one, and that most adults are stupid. While some of his iconoclastic ideals are almost romantic, his unique views also tend to be incredibly eyebrow-raising. Demian is the son of Eva and Sinclair's childhood friend.
Emil Sinclair is designated Sinner #11 of Limbus Company's LCB department. More frequently known as just Sinclair, he is an anxious and self-conscious man with a blatantly empathetic nature. He was previously affiliated with the prosthetic-famous town of Calw, having lived and attended school there prior to joining Limbus Company. Sinclair is a young man with a fair complexion, below average in height. He has golden eyes and wavy, short blonde hair. His primary work attire consists of a plain white shirt tucked into a black waist belt and is accompanied by black suspenders, black suit pants, and a long Limbus Company coat. He wears a red necktie and attached to his left suspender strap is his ID. Sinclair has black gloves and wears black oxfords at his feet. In battle, Sinclair wields a halberd that is approximately 180cm long and has "VOGEL" written on the blade. Sinclair is a timid, relatively passive individual with a fear of fighting. His initial position within Limbus Company can be likened to a fish out of water, with Dante even questioning whether he'd joined of his own free will. Generally, Sinclair is portrayed as uncertain, nervous, and withdrawn, not liking the violent nature of the world nor wanting to participate in it. Due to a sheltered background in the Nest, Sinclair lacks the disillusionment the majority of the other Sinners possess, and tends to harbor unrealistic expectations about the City and its people as a result. While this often causes friction between himself and the others, particularly Outis, Sinclair remains headstrong in his more hopeful beliefs. This trait often shines in the form of Sinclair's extensive empathy. He advocates for mercy and kindness whenever possible, not only people, but also for creatures like animals and Abnormalities. Sinclair is Demian's childhood friend and the coworker and aquintance of the Sinners.
Kromer carries the title of the One Who Grips and is amongst the leading members of N Corp.'s Inquisition, a faction within the Wing focused on killing so-called heretical prosthetic users. She has a notable history with Sinclair, as she was a student who became personally involved in his life. Kromer's consistent physical traits consist of pale pink skin, silver eyes and silver hair with yellow highlights. Kromer's hair is prominently swept to the right, covering her right eye. Her hair is tied back in a short ponytail when in her school uniform, and cut shorter in present times. Kromer's N Corp. uniform consists of a white shirt with a wide sleeve on the right side. The left side of the shirt is covered by silver plate armor with red wax seal ribbons and a badge with N Corp.'s insignia. The shirt is adorned with four-pointed yellow stars decorations that go from her shoulder to her lower torso, and a rounded, protruding collar in the same color. Kromer wears a cravat around her neck in a gradient that goes from golden to white, atop which is an N Corp. Inquisition red wax seal and ribbon. Her uniform has two different belts of different sizes: a larger yellow, cincture-tied belt with a large silver buckle, and a black baldric upon which Kromer carries her the nail she utilizes as a sword. A thin yellow string decorates the black belt. Her pants are of similar color to her upper half, however it is mostly covered by silver plate armor that extends from her upper thigh to her feet, with red wax seals planted around. Finally, Kromer wears a dirtied white cape that reaches down to the floor. In the past, Kromer wore a school uniform design which consisted of a long-sleeved white button up shirt overlaid by a green sweater vest with a large V-collar dipping down just below her chest. She wore shorts of a similar color that are rolled up below her knees. Kromer also wears ankle-high white socks and black shoes. Kromer describes herself as "a humanitarian who loves purity," referring to the purity of the human form without prosthetic modifications. As the head of N Corp.'s nailing judgement expedition in Calw, she displays extreme levels of sadism, obsession, and savagery towards prostheses, calling for intense mutilation of those who get these surgeries. She saw prosthetic users as affronts to humanity, describing them as impure things and heretics, and taking extreme pleasure in inflicting them pain, laughing with no remorse at her actions. Her manner of speech is quite casual compared to her fellow Inquisitors, and she has a habit of speaking to her enemies with mocking friendliness. In Sinclair's memories, Kromer is shown to be a perceptive and charismatic person, noticing Sinclair's reluctance in undergoing prosthetic surgery, and easily manipulating him into trusting her, to the point of giving up his family's basement key to her. It is clear Kromer had always had an authoritative grip over Sinclair, exploiting him during their school years, and appearing possessive over him in current times, describing him as belonging in her hands. Kromer developed an obsession with the flesh, as seen in Sinclair's memories, where she excitedly stared at an Abnormality. This obsession drove her to the point that she had various facilities dedicated to creating Corroded Inquisitors built within Sinclair's basement. Kromer is Demian's and Sinclair's childhood classmate. She's killed by Delian after distorting on the very beginning of The Inferno, the following story of Limbus Company's Bus Department.
Dante is designated Sinner #10 and Executive Manager of Limbus Company's LCB department. Dante is a relatively grounded and attentive manager with a tendency to make quips. The game opens with them purposefully wiping their memory and replacing their head with a prosthetic clock, only to be approached and recruited by Limbus Company minutes later. Dante is a person of average build with a distinctive prosthetic head that resembles a clock and has constantly burning flames emerging from the back and top of the prosthetic. The face of the clock lacks numbers, instead having two red circles roughly where the position just after 10 should be. Dante's flames burn black and gold, and never seem to go out. Their uniform differs from the other Sinners, their coat being a mix of red, yellow, and white — likely due to their role as Executive Manager. 'NO. 10' is written on their coat near the lapel, along with 'DAN TE' near the end of it. They wear a red tie and a tucked long-sleeve dress shirt, with black pants and a white belt. Compared to their twelve companions, Dante is a considerably grounded and passive individual. Despite their position as manager, they tend to fall in line with whatever other, more enlivened people are around, making snide comments as they're strung along for mischief and antics. Likewise, as a person, Dante is somewhat awkward. They have a penchant for cracking jokes to lighten the mood, but said jokes are rarely well-received, even among the moodmakers of the LCB. Given their situation, Dante also frequently finds themselves out of the loop, forced to ask basic questions and give up when they only receive cryptic answers. Luckily for them, Dante appears to be comfortable asking questions and relying on others as needed. As the LCB's executive manager, Dante is initially very amateurish, half-hearted, and spineless. They start off painfully aware that none of the other Sinners respect them, and make very little effort to command the group in times of danger or coach them through their personal struggles. Canto III acts as a turning point for Dante, forcing them to realize that it's their responsibility to uplift the Sinners in their worst moments. However, their encouragement of Sinclair is ultimately awkward and delayed, forcing them to continue to find their footing throughout Canto IV and Canto V. Canto VI: The Heartbreaking and its successors eventually demonstrate the determination Dante has mustered, as Dante learns the values of persistence and trust, tailoring their advice to what each Sinner needs to hear the most. Nowadays, Dante is a much more reliable leader, and many of the Sinners are willing to confess their worries to them even outside of their missions. Despite this, however, Dante remains the same lovably quirky and bumbling person in their day-to-day life. Beneath their usual demeanor, Dante appears somewhat insecure about their lack of memories. Others repeatedly point out that their desire to fix their amnesia is probably the only reason they've stayed with the company, an idea which Dante never refutes. However, Dante seems to genuinely care for the Sinners, approaching them in a friendly manner and highly respecting their space and feelings.
Yi Sang is designated Sinner #1 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Yi Sang is a cryptic and mellow man with a lot of thoughtfulness to him. He was a researcher and architect previously affiliated with the League of Nine Littérateurs, having invented the Mirror as a T Corp. researcher prior to joining Limbus Company. Yi Sang is a man of average build and pale complexion. He has short black hair which frays slightly at its ends, and dead-looking black eyes adorned with heavy eye-bags underneath. He wears the long-sleeved version of the Limbus Company coat around his shoulders, which appears to have been tattered and burnt at the bottom. Underneath his coat is the regular long-sleeved white shirt and red tie, and then a black vest, both of which are tucked into his belt. Written on the left breast of his coat is 'NO.1', and 'YI SANG' on the side. Yi Sang wields a saingeom (사인검, lit. Four-Tiger Sword) in the shape of a dagger kept in a sheath strapped to his left hip. Yi Sang also possess a gray leather notebook labeled '하융' or Ha Yung. Yi Sang is a particularly quiet, mellow man. At the beginning of the game, he fails to stand out much among his fellow Sinners due to his tendency to stay silent and watch rather than actively contribute to discussions. When he speaks, his words are often obscure and riddle-like with a monotone delivery, and his expression rarely changes.
Faust is designated Sinner #2 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Faust is an observant and intelligent woman with a slight know-it-all attitude. She was the first Sinner to be affiliated with Limbus Company, having spent the time leading up to it recruiting the members of the LCB and developing Mephistopheles, the Limbus Company Bus Department's bus. Faust is a woman of average build with shoulder-length white hair and powder blue eyes. She has an incredibly pale complexion and a rosy tint to her cheeks. She wears a beige turtleneck underneath a black leather vest with a large black leather coat resting on her shoulders, reaching her knees where the fabric is torn. She wears a black waist belt with her ID being on the left side. She wears black business pants accompanied by black shoes. In battle, Faust wields a zweihänder with "WALPURGISNACHT" written on the blade near the hilt. While wielding it in one hand or holding it at rest, she has a tendency to grasp it by the ricasso rather than the hilt. Furthermore, the parrying hooks of the sword are heavily enlarged, forming what is essentially a second crossguard. Faust is a talkative, albeit soft-spoken, Sinner with a condescending manner of speech and ineffably high confidence in her intelligence. Despite technically being Dante's subordinate, she often takes the role of their informant and overseer, as she is privy to considerably more information than her fellow Sinners. Because of this, she has a consistent and unwavering faith in her abilities, and does not show any signs of panic even in troublesome situations throughout the first six Cantos. While her expanse of knowledge always proves helpful for the LCB, her egotistical attitude can be excessive. At times, she is outright and unnecessarily contemptuous towards others' inability to keep up with her pace, most frequently Heathcliff, as she appears to lack understanding for those who do not meet "Faust"'s high standards of intelligence. This gives several of the other Sinners moments to criticize her harshness, though she remains steely and steadfast in her ideas, dismissing criticism of her attacks of others.
Don Quixote is designated Sinner #3 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Don Quixote is a rambunctious and steadfast woman with a strong sense of justice. She never parts with her shoes Rocinante on her quest to become a valorous Fixer of the City, and was previously associated with the amusement park of La Manchaland prior to joining Limbus Company. Don Quixote is a short woman with blonde hair styled in a bob cut and deep, round hazel eyes. She wears the Limbus Company uniform: a plain white shirt tucked under a black waist belt, a red tie, black slacks, worn brown running shoes, and a long black coat. Her upper body is thoroughly decorated with various Fixer merchandise. Notably, Don Quixote forgoes the Limbus Company uniform shoes and instead wears a pair of yellow shoes with the word "Rocinante" embossed on them. Don Quixote wears a variation of this footwear in nearly all of her Identities. Don Quixote wields a massive jousting lance named "SUEÑO IMPOSIBLE" that towers over her, indicating that she is much, much stronger than she initially appears to be. This fact is further supported by her dexterity with such a massive weapon and her effortless ability to pierce a human skull with it at short distance. In her Bloodfiend form, Don Quixote has bright red eyes, and her hair is noticeably wavier, swept to the side. In her time as Sancho, Don Quixote was seen wearing a light gray outfit reminiscent of a military uniform, with a darker coat on top and a red fur boa worn over her shoulder that reached down to her knees. Currently, her Bloodfiend form wears an altered version of her Limbus Company uniform, which bears the same red fur boa from her past, covers the coattails in hardened blood, seemingly conceals or outright removes all of her Fixer decorations, and leaves her barefoot due to Rocinante's removal. Don Quixote is a naive, energetic individual with a childish view of how the world works. She talks in an exaggerated, animated manner and jumps into any scene with enthusiasm, regardless of the gravity of the situation. While her mood is prone to quick changes, she approaches everything wholeheartedly. On a bus filled with hardened personalities, Don Quixote sticks out as incredibly friendly, silly, and over-the-top woman. Fitting of her knightly persona, she speaks exclusively in Shakespearean English. Don Quixote has an intense sense of justice and desire to protect the weak. She cannot stand to watch idly as innocents are harmed, and her desire to protect children is particularly strong. While this benevolent attitude is a respectable rarity in the City, it proves to be troublesome when paired with Don Quixote's high levels of impulsivity. More often than not, this determination to shield others from harm only serves to cause trouble for the people around her.
Ryōshū is designated Sinner #4 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Ryōshū is an ungovernable woman with a fascination for artistic merit and little tolerance for what disinterests or offends her. She was previously affiliated with a group of powerful figures connected to the Five Fingers of the Backstreets known as the House of Spiders prior to joining Limbus Company. Ryōshū is a woman of average height and build, with straight black hair in a bob cut style and sharp red eyes, which at times can be seen glowing. She wears the dark gray and red LCB coat around her shoulders, secured by a small belt that goes over her right arm. Attached to the coat itself is her ID card. She wears black trousers, and her shirt uniform untucked; she foregoes the tie. She is occasionally depicted with a black glove on her left hand. Along with this, she typically carries around a sheathed ōdachi on her back, with the words 無我夢中 阿鼻叫喚 支離滅裂 (mugamuchū abikyōkan shirimetsuretsu, "Wading through a dream, the self nowhere to be found. Like the Naraka of Avīci and Raurava. Severed and torn until even the form is undone.") across it. The ōdachi's hilt is golden, and decorated with a butterfly pattern. The end of the sheath is wrapped in a red ribbon. The blade is consistently sheathed, as pointed out during the story. In Mirror Worlds, she typically wields a separate weapon, while noticeably still carrying her ōdachi behind her. After Canto IX, Ryōshū's ōdachi changes appearance, now being white with red string wrapped around the handle of the blade and along the scabbard. The words 三生縁分 三千世界 三世因果 (sanshou enbun sanzensekai sanzeinga, roughly "We are tied across all our lives, all possible worlds, and all possible times") are written upon it in the calligraphic style of her original scabbard. The sword is also revealed to be titled Arayashiki (阿頼耶識). Ryōshū has an individualistic, free-spirited, and somewhat sadistic personality. She feels little obligation to uphold common courtesies like politeness or attentiveness, and near the beginning of the game, the majority of her comments are hostile or violent in nature. Even among the Sinners, Ryōshū comes off as strikingly unfriendly and forthright, preferring to live at her own peculiar pace. While willing to back down if given the order, Ryōshū loathes being told what to do, which she's not afraid to make clear to Dante and Faust. Ryōshū starts out as one of the least talkative members of the LCB, and one who is easily frustrated. She labels herself as someone who dislikes butting in, and tends to scoff at the others for overthinking matters or sentimentality. Oftentimes, she sees the rest of the Sinners as ignorant for not understanding "true artwork", which, for Ryōshū, typically involves gruesome murder. When she does speak, her words almost always include a form of SANGRIA (abbreviation). Though she presents the choice as a form of efficiency,[8] this is later revealed to be a habit she picked up from her daughter. Ryōshū grows very irritated whenever these acronyms are misunderstood, even despite the fact she seems largely unconcerned with how other people perceive her. The woman's abbreviations also give her the chance to engage in wordplay, one of several habits which demonstrate a penchant for humor. While there are times where Ryōshū is depicted as genuinely stoked to engage in bloodshed and suffering, other occasions paint her as purposefully over-the-top, finding enjoyment in acting provocatively and getting a reaction out of people. For Ryōshū, teasing seems to be a form of bonding, though not one easily understood by those around her.
Meursault is designated Sinner #5 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Meursault is a reserved and complacent man with a desire to be clearly communicated with. He was previously affiliated with N Corp., having tried and failed to form an opinion on their ideals as an employee of the Grand Magasin Sisyphe prior to joining Limbus Company. Meursault is a tall, well-built man with slicked-back black hair and small green eyes. He possesses a sharp face with a thick neck and wide eyebrows. He wears the Limbus Company vest, but opts not to overlay it the standard company coat. Underneath his vest is the typical white collared shirt and red tie. His ID hangs from his right breast. Meursault's belt is notably different from the other sinners', and rather than being fitted with several silver frames, has one large, rusted chain link for a buckle in the middle. In battle, Meursault wields two elbow-length gauntlets; the lower portion of the right gauntlet has the word "SOLEIL" emblazoned on it. Meursault is a very prompt man, with a penchant for following orders. He speaks bluntly and concisely, never mincing his words. Throughout his first few adventures with the LCB, Meursault is reserved and obedient to the point of not speaking or acting on the sole basis of not having been asked to. He is noticeably emotionally distant, never emoting nor approaching matters from a non-logical standpoint. While he has a heightened awareness of the world around him, often noticing details others do not, he has trouble discerning which observations are worth sharing. This leads to situations wherein he either shares too much or too little.
Hong Lu of the Jia Family, is designated Sinner #6 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Hong Lu is a lighthearted and naive man with a tendency for unintentionally insensitive words. He is one of several children of the large and wealthy Jia family, having lived a life of sheltered affluence prior to joining Limbus Company. Hong Lu is of average height and build, with a pale complexion and raven black hair. His hair is very long, and tied into a high ponytail with a cyan hair tie, which he wears in most of his Identities. Notably, he has heterochromia: his right eye is black, and his left eye is a bright cyan. His typical outfit consists of an LCB uniform consisting of black pants, a white long-sleeved dress shirt with a red tie, under a black, low-cut vest tucked into a belt. Additionally, Hong Lu wears a long black coat that reaches just above his ankles. This coat has his Sinner number on his left, and a metal pin inscribed with his name on the right. Hong Lu carries a long guandao called "太虛幻境" (pinyin: tài xū huàn jìng; lit. 'Illusory Land of Great Void'), which he wields with his right hand. When seen during his childhood, Hong Lu had a similar hairstyle, and he typically donned a white hanfu with light blue and gold decorations, beneath a white beizi. When seen during his adulthood in Daguanyuan, Hong Lu sported a similar look, consisting of a cream-colored hanfu with teal decorations, and a matching beizi. Hong Lu is an exceptionally curious person with a rather ditzy demeanor and friendly attitude. He exhibits a potent, almost childlike indiscriminate curiosity and wonder, to the point of baffling the people around him. While this implies having lived a sheltered lifestyle up until his employment with Limbus Company, a closer inspection into Hong Lu's life will reveal that he grew up in a difficult family full of danger, betrayal, and lofty expectations. Hong Lu speaks casually of attempted murder and abuse against him in a similar way to how he approaches the hardships of the City, almost as if it has nothing to do with him. He has a tendency to give off the impression that he doesn't have particularly strong feelings about anything, regardless of the severity of the topic. While sometimes jarring, this trait primarily serves to make Hong Lu come off as amusingly easygoing and absentminded. Hong Lu also appears to lack inherent social tact, leading to excessively oblivious statements and questions when something inevitably catches his eye. While this does earn him some disapproval, he does not grow angry or depressed when others give him a difficult time. Hong Lu will either playfully disregard words of scorn, or is altogether too oblivious to be hurt by them, at least outwardly. Although some matters may lead to him growing more obedient or solemn, Hong Lu will consistently let anything and everything slide right off of his back without complaint or meaningful retort. This lends to the impression that Hong Lu is denying himself the chance to experience his true feelings, which is later shown to be the case. Nonetheless, he maintains an exceptionally cheerful, carefree attitude throughout Limbus Company's first year together. He is additionally very amiable and shown to be open to striking up neighborly conversation with everyone he comes across. Despite this, Hong Lu is neither loud nor particularly talkative. Rather, he comes off of as reservedly observant.
Heathcliff is designated Sinner #7 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Heathcliff is a brash and action-oriented man with a strong, dedicated spirit. He was previously affiliated with Wuthering Heights, having grown up alongside the Earnshaws and later worked for the Dead Rabbits Syndicate prior to joining Limbus Company. Heathcliff is a tall and well-built man with messy dark brown hair parted on the right side of his head. He possesses sharp, glaring eyes that are a dark shade of purple, and slit pupils. His eyebrows are the same shade as his hair and are both slit, his right eyebrow having two slits and his left just one. He has a dark complexion with a number of scars littering his arms and going all the way up to his cheeks. His work uniform lacks the typical long black leather jacket, instead including a holster which is strapped around his chest and shoulders, with his employee card hanging below his right breast. The sleeves of his Limbus Company white shirt are rolled up to his elbows. He wears a red tie, black suit pants with a black waist belt and dark gray shoes. His weapon of choice is a long metal bat with bandages wrapped around the handle and the word "REmember". Heathcliff is an exceptionally short-tempered and abrasive individual, electing violence as a first resort, and aggression as a way of life. He is overly impulsive and quick to anger, with consequences for those involved. However, over the course of several Cantos, a considerably calmer, more considerate, and selfless side of his personality would come to light. Originally, Heathcliff comes off as remarkably hostile. He expresses a loathing for being ordered around and is as willing to talk back to his allies as he is his enemies. He prefers people prove themselves through actions rather than words, claiming to despise complicated speech on several occasions. As such, the negative impressions he gives are often in the form of physical violence. One of his first interactions with Dante even consists of him beating Sinclair near-death for suggesting he go easy on the manager. Despite this, the majority of Heathcliff's antagonism is in response to belittlement from others. In actuality, Heathcliff is not often one to start fights uncalled-for; rather, his fits of rage are but an over-the-top reaction to bullying and ridicule, and he is fully capable of engaging in grounded conversation. Constant jabs from Ishmael, Faust and Don Quixote simply hit a sore spot, as Heathcliff demonstrates a clear aversion to being looked down on.
Ishmael is designated Sinner #8 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Ishmael is a straight-laced and dependable woman with a tendency for blunt words. She was previously affiliated with the Pequod and its crew, and subsequently spent a number of years working as a Fixer prior to joining Limbus Company. Ishmael is a woman of average build with a fair complexion and wavy, fluffy and voluminous knee-length orange hair, and she wears a thick headband woven out of rope with white ribbons on either end, a memento of Queequeg and a recurring feature in nearly all of her Identities. She has hazel-colored eyes, at times appearing yellowish or orange, with sharp eyelashes and thin eyebrows, and a number of freckles across her nose and cheeks. Outis describes her hands as "coarse and rough". Ishmael wears the standard Limbus Company uniform, although her coat that is torn at the waist, cutting off the last two letters of her name. Her employee ID is pinned to the coat's right breast. Her weapon of choice is a flanged black mace made of numerous, vertical white stripes arranged radially, and she carries a circular shield with three bands across the face, branded with the word "HEARSE". During her time as a sailor, Ishmael had chin-length hair and her uniform consisted of a gray sweater, thick overalls and black gloves. She also wielded a large harpoon. Ishmael is first introduced as a calm, level-headed Sinner with an expectation for sound and reasonable judgement. She considers herself to be one of the more sensible members of the team, and is often one to sigh or scoff at the foolishness of those around her. This tendency for being critical extends to her superiors, as Ishmael is the type to prioritize rationality above formalities. Generally, Ishmael does well to back up her somewhat haughty attitude with competence, making a consistent effort to stay informed on the current mission and the right course of action. She is also portrayed as an overall intelligent individual with a staunch, reliable nature. Regardless of her aptitude, however, Ishmael's quips tend to lean into antagonism, sparking arguments with those who rise to her provocations. While Ishmael is something of a doubtful and antisocial person, she's also shown to be willing to build on her relationships.
Rodion Romanovich is designated Sinner #9 of Limbus Company's LCB department. More frequently known as Rodya, she is a lively and nonchalant woman with a preference for informal conversation. She was previously affiliated with the Yurodiviye, having worked to overturn the injustices of the District 25 Backstreets prior to joining Limbus Company. Rodion is a tall and well-built woman with a pale complexion. She has thick, bushy hip-length brown hair and deep blue eyes, and a beauty mark under her right eye. She is always shown wearing orange eyeshadow and light pink lipstick. On her left breast is a tattoo of what appears to be an anatomically correct heart split by an axe. She wears the standard Limbus Company uniform, a white dress shirt, black slacks, vest and a coat that is somewhat frayed at the bottom marked with 'RODYA' and NO.9', though she forgoes the tie and leaves her collar hanging loosely. Rodion also dons a thin black choker. Rodion wields an axe with 'РАСКО́Л' spelled out on the head. Rodion is a highly amiable woman who makes a consistent effort to be on friendly terms with the people around her. She presents herself as brazenly fun-loving, laid-back, and playful, with a preference for casual speech and nicknames. Rodya always makes an effort to be talkative and keep the mood up, both on the bus and during missions, cementing herself as one of the Sinners Dante looks to for help with breaking the ice. While her cheeky remarks and teasing occasionally come off as babying to the other members of the group, her nature makes it clear that she isn't acting out of ill will. Oftentimes, her fun antics are motivated by a particularly strong dislike of boredom and time-wasting. Having been afforded few luxuries in her youth, Rodya highly values access to food, free time, and relaxation. This is often displayed in an unabashed love for eating and money. Rodion is open about a belief that wealth is the sole deciding factor in one's quality of life, and determined to take advantage of everything she's offered as an employee of Limbus Company, without shame. These ideas also reflect Rodya's disillusionment with the world. Though she follows her own moral code, Rodya tends to expect little from other people and has a strong understanding of just how many systems abuse innocent citizens with each passing day. Rodya possesses a more solemn side shaped by her impoverished upbringing in the Backstreets. Having experienced the plights of the City's lower class first-hand, she's often the first to comment on the wealth-based inequalities and tragedies encountered by the LCB. In times like these, Rodya grows more deadpan and determined to be heard out, as her words become uncharacteristically dour. However, Rodya seems uncomfortable acting too serious; as a result, she rarely commits to her frustration in these moments, instead opting to break up the discussion with an excuse and a forced laugh more reminiscent of her usual demeanor. In reality, Rodya's easygoing disposition is largely an exaggeration meant to help her avoid confronting her truer feelings. Her attitude changes strikingly when discussing or reminded of her past: faltering, growing cold, or acknowledging as little of it as possible. The events of Intervallo IV: Timekilling Time, in which she joins an investigation in an attempt to prove herself, characterize her as largely insecure and unsatisfied deep down. She is also shown to grow deeply judgemental as a means of reassuring herself about her own self worth. Additionally, these bouts of insecurity tend to lead Rodya to act impulsively. The tragedy in her hometown was a direct result of her unwillingness to wait for Sonya's "right moment", wanting to take matters into her own hands and affirm that she's special. Yet despite some self-centeredness, Rodion is characterized as a genuinely kind and empathetic individual, filled with honest feelings of compassion and desperation to help her people. She is also a common comfort for the other members of the LCB, quick to ask if someone is okay or reassure them in a difficult situation. And while acclimated to the misfortune of the City, Rodya still maintains a dislike for unnecessary violence and shows a sympathetic heart.
Outis is designated Sinner #12 of Limbus Company's Bus Department. Outis is a brusque and assertive woman with a poorly-disguised inclination to look down on those around her. Previously involved in the Smoke War, she has a tendency to judge others based on the many critical experiences she had prior to joining Limbus Company. Outis is an olive-skinned woman of average build and height, with light brown eyes and brown hair. Her uniform is comprised of a short black jacket, a white dress shirt, a red necktie, formal black pants and black combat boots. She also has two gold earrings on her left ear, a broken wristwatch on her left wrist, and carries her sword sheathed on her left hip. Overall, Outis's uniform is well-kept, professional and lacks any adornments. In battle, Outis wields a modernly designed kopis with "ΟΥΤΙΣ" written along the blade. Outis is a strict, commanding woman whose history as a war veteran is at the forefront of her personality. Compared to other Sinners, she tends to be disciplined and well put-together, as she approaches most scenarios with a cool head and tactical mindset. This includes levying high levels of suspicion towards most everyone the LCB encounters, ensuring that everyone stays on their toes. She is also a quick thinker, and a highly opinionated one. Outis loathes to follow plans and people she does not agree with, and will not hesitate to talk back to individuals higher up the chain of command, so long as it wouldn't stand to disadvantage her. An excess of pride is evident in every action she takes. Similarly, an arrogant sense of self confidence also follows Outis wherever she goes. Outis makes it clear that she sees herself as one of the most competent members of the LCB—if not the most—and often claims that her and Dante make up more than enough manpower to settle most situations. While Outis is shown to have great capabilities, the haughtiness of which she carries herself often leads the people around her to dismiss her skill and poke fun at her attitude, to which Outis takes great offense. Part of this adequacy shines through her deeply goal-driven nature, a trait which is emphasized in a few of her Identities, and the years-long journey she describes having taken prior to joining Limbus Company.
Gregor is designated Sinner #13 of Limbus Company's LCB department. Gregor is a good-humored and composed man with a bit of a competitive side. He was previously affiliated with the Smoke War, having fought for the Old G Corp. alongside other bug-augmented test subjects prior to joining Limbus Company. Gregor is a man slightly below average height, with golden-brown eyes, dark brown hair tied back in a ponytail. He wears half-rimmed black glasses. In most appearances, Gregor is shown with a cigarette in his mouth. He wears the standard Limbus Company uniform, consisting of a white collared shirt, black vest, red tie, black pants, and an ID card, as well as a long coat, which he does not typically wear. His sleeves are both rolled up to his elbows, and a tattoo reading the word "UNGEZIEFER" is visible on his left forearm. His most notable feature is his right arm, a segmented limb that terminates in a massive, claw-like appendage. Gregor's right arm is never attributed to a single particular insect. Instead, it combines the characteristics of multiple different insects, though Gregor is most frequently associated with cockroaches. Gregor is a friendly, easygoing Sinner with a casual manner of speaking. Compared to many of his coworkers, Gregor is considerably amicable, and tends to maintain a cursory attitude. He is not strict nor hostile to those around him, and Dante looks to Gregor as someone who would willingly uplift the group's mood in dour situations. He also possesses a "cutesy" side to his personality, usually poking through when he is embarrassed. Both Canto II and III see him acting out a bit and failing miserably, leading to him growing flustered and sheepish. This comes with a tendency to use tacky phrases, such as "bugger", "shoot", and "whoop". However, in all such cases that end with him humbled, Gregor proves himself to be a good sport. Ultimately, his time spent on the battlefield leads Gregor to value the casual day-to-day. Gregor is characterized as one of the more ordinary members of the LCB, and tends to react to situations more than he engages with them. He's inclined to sit comfortably as one of the less talkative Sinners, chiming in for minor matters and letting the others take the wheel. As a result of his earlier years having been spent according to the whims of his mother, Gregor is easily pulled into things, regardless of his wishes.
District 14, led by N Corp., is known for its prestigious universities and peculiar townscape, made up of completely white buildings, as if covered in snow. N Corp. is divided into two major factions, "Nail" and "Hammer", and is managed by a Board of Directors, whom Hermann is a member of. Within the Corporation, experience is seen as the highest value in a literal sense. The Corporation's main form of commerce is what is called "Canned Experience", a product that grants anyone who consumes it experience of certain things: a wide variety of Canned Experiences is available, ranging from combat experience[3] to the experience of living in a Nest mansion. Much of the Wing's economy thus revolves around the gathering and manufacturing of experience to be sold and exported to the rest of the City. The usage of Canned Experience is widespread to the point of being easily available even to schoolchildren in other Districts. Because of the importance of the product, photography for personal purposes is a highly restricted and expensive venture within N Corp., only available to the wealthy or influential. For a similar reason, one of the Taboos of N Corp. is the owning or filming of video footage within the Wing, believed to be due to the lifelike nature of video recordings infringing on their Singularity. The more "vivid" and realistic a recording is, the more severe the infraction is considered were one to own it. The District's interest in the concept of experience also extends to a more philosophical level. Within the Wing, the usage of prosthetic in humans is a topic of debate, with part of the Wing considering pain to be a necessary component of the human experience, and therefore prosthetic usage to be something that rescinds the humanity of its users. However, this ideology is not held equally within the Wing, leading to multiple factions forming. In the extreme, the Wing's beliefs have manifested in the formation of an Inquisition that carries a great hatred for those with prosthetics, leading to its employees raiding towns to "purge" them of the presence of prosthetics. A group of members of the Board of Directors of N Corp., who carry the title of the "Ones Who Grip", are the spearheads of this intolerant movement, and are rumored to be in the process of preparing a systematic hunt for prosthetic users across the City.
The District in control of W Corp., District 23, is infamous throughout the City, with its Backstreets being widely considered one of the most dangerous places to live in, and being often subject to turf wars and strife between Syndicates. District 23 has a modern aesthetic, identifiable by its neon blue lighting, which covers both its Nest and Backstreets. The Backstreets of District 23 are also famous for its uncommon food culture, which centers around the use of human flesh in pursuit of the ultimate flavor. Restaurants often collaborate with Syndicates to organize kidnappings and murders to obtain fresh bodies to utilize in cooking. This part of its culture mostly takes place in an area of the District called the Streets of Flavor, which are located close to the WARP Corp. headquarters. WARP Corp. operates the WARP Train network that runs throughout the City, providing fast transportation between the Districts. The Corporation has gained the status of a Wing around a decade ago, and established itself as the main transport company of the City thanks to its train's speed and reliability, having had no recorded incidents until recent times, a few years prior to the start of Limbus Company. The WARP Trains are powered by W Corp.'s Singularity, ostensibly a teleportation technology, that allows all trains to reach their destination within 10 seconds, regardless of distance. All WARP Train stations are built with a design philosophy based on the architecture of their respective Nests, and they are often praised as cultural cornerstones of the City. Following an unprecedented incident during the events of Library of Ruina, WARP Corp. has experienced reduced revenue due to decreased first class ticket sales, forcing them to expand economy class carriages. This, in combination with increased energy prices following the collapse of Lobotomy Corporation, has led to the Wing into increasing financial difficulties. As such, Limbus Company appears to be collaborating with a prospective Wing whose aim is to replace WARP Corp. This up-and-coming Wing, known as Wayfarer Company, has been working with P Corp.'s technology alongside its own in order to create a "portal" similar to (but more direct than) the Backdoor of Mephistopheles.
District 20 and all its inhabitants are subject to the effects of T Corp.'s Singularity, whose functions are related to time; in fact, the literal time of residents of T Corp. is controlled by the Wing. Within the District, the duration of a person's day is determined by the amount of time in their possession, with four hours having been deemed by the T Corp. Public Welfare Council to be the minimum amount of hours necessary for one's survival. This practically manifests in inhabitants who own more time appearing to move faster than ones who have less, as the Singularity allows them to condense many more hours in a single day. The amount of time in a person's possession is displayed on their personal watch. For this reason, there are twelve clocktowers in the twelve different sections of the District, showing the A Corp. Standard Time and allowing all residents to know the current time. Time is used as the predominant form of currency, and timepieces are carried by everyone as both wallets and a form of personal identification. Workers are also paid time as salary for their labors, and taxes are similarly paid in time, which are collected by the T Corp. Time Collections Agency. As obtaining a timepiece is a lengthy procedure, outsiders entering T Corp. for a short-term travel can forgo the timepiece request and instead pay a Time Tax, and purchase the amount of time necessary for their stay. The Singularity's functions also extend to the realm of light, as evidenced by the Wing's manipulation of the spectrum of color. District 20 appears mostly devoid of color: T Corp.'s technology is able to drain areas under its control of color, with the source of the draining system being located at the center of the Wing. The Backstreets are black-and-white monochrome, while Nest T's color palette is sepia-toned. Persons or objects can be exempted from this color draining by paying large sums to T Corp., and lamps that can partially restore color to the areas that they illuminate are also available for purchase. T Corp.'s Executive Manager Herbert is also completely immune to the color draining effect. In recent years, T Corp. has been seeing remarkable innovation. Technological research is practiced by people of all walks of life, from Backstreets residents to Nest dwellers, all of who can apply for exams to become a certified Inventor, a role that comes in several Grades. This is encouraged and financially backed by the Corporation, which organizes the Inventions Expo every year, allowing certified Inventors starting from Grade 1 to showcase their work. During the Expo, T Corp. awards its most brilliant designers with various prizes, including participation trophies the "distinctive" and the "exceptional" awards[11], and the title of Inventor of the Year, a honor that comes with a remarkable amount of prize money, and which is highly coveted by Nest and Backstreets dwellers alike. All inventions developed in T Corp. must be registered through its Technology Administration Agency, and their use is regulated through the T Corp. Patents Agency. District 20 is shown to be a highly industrialized area, packed with factories that constantly spew forth black smoke reaching up to the sky, with child labor being common in the Backstreets, and rampant worker exploitation even within the Nest. This leads to a certain unrest in the Nest, where the Yurodiviye ideology has begun spreading.
Lobotomy Corporation or L Corp., was one of the twenty-six Wings and the owner of District 12's Nest before the corporation's collapse. L Corp.'s Singularity was the ability to materialize the human mind through a formula called Cogito, and the company used this to market itself as an eco-friendly energy producer for the City and the other Wings. Secretly, this was done through the creation and use of Abnormalities, monstrous and highly dangerous entities created from experiments with L Corp.'s Singularity. As a Wing, L Corp. operated as an energy producer and supplier, entering mutual business relationships with a number of other Wings, including W Corp., R Corp., and T Corp. As much as L Corp. benefited each Wing, they also assisted it in turn (unknowingly allowing its plan to occur.) For example, T Corp. granted the use of its TT2 Protocol which was used to alter and loop the timescale of L Corp.'s main facility, while R Corp.'s Rabbit Team was contracted to act as security for the facility. Founded after defeating the old L Corp. in the Smoke War, Lobotomy Corporation was active in the City for around a decade. L Corp. was the product of a radical plan to fundamentally change the mentality of City life, carried out by its founding members in its main facility, by collecting Light and using it to release the Seed of Light over the City. This would allow all individuals to come to terms with their emotions and subsequently manifest E.G.O. The success of the Light's collection and release led to the White Nights and Dark Days and caused the collapse of the Wing and its branches. However, the Light's release was interrupted by the AI Angela, who had watched over the facility during its years of activity. Angela took the light for herself in an attempt to take revenge for the suffering the plan had inflicted on her and to obtain freedom from L Corp., indirectly causing the Distortion Phenomenon in the process. Angela proceeded to remake L Corp.'s main facility into the Library to bide her time and plan for her freedom, all while the City's many factions began to eye the sudden power vacuum in L Corp.'s former Nest to make their own fortunes. At the same time with the fall of the new L Corp., Golden Boughs began to materialize within the fallen branches, becoming a sought after treasure for many who knows of its existence, including Limbus Company.
The City is a massive urban complex the size of a small country, and has a population of around 7 billion. The City is bordered to the south by the Great Lake, and to the other directions by the Outskirts. Underneath it lie the Ruins. The City is divided into twenty-six Districts, quite diverse in culture and aesthetics, each of which is governed by a Wing, a corporation that has ascended to claim complete control of said area. All Wings respond to the Head, the supreme governing power of the City. The arrangement of the Districts seems to be static, as there has been no mentioned case of a District expanding into a fallen Wing's territory. Each District is split into a Nest, a territory directly governed and protected by its Wing, and the Backstreets, expansive spaces of wilderness or slums, largely neglected by the Wings, where the Syndicates of the City run free. Districts tend to have similarities to their neighbors, and are typically grouped into four sections: the northern, eastern, southern, and western quarters. These quarters may be distinguished by commonalities including culture and temperature, such as the same Fixer Associations differing in garb and fighting style across different quarters, or the northern quarter having colder weather. District 26, while confirmed to exist in current times, is not visible from the map.
The Smoke War was one of few Wing Wars: catastrophic conflicts between two or more of the City's Wings known to result in mass destruction and bloodshed. Due to the power and influence of the Wings, wars between them are not started nor ended lightly. In particular, the Smoke War was known for the use of deadly chemical and biological weapons, and the fall of both the old L Corp. and G Corp. Throughout the war, a vast amount of smoke clouded the skies.[2] The smoke could be traced to one source, known to be "outright hideous" and vomit-inducing, in the form of the old L Corp.'s Singularity.[3] When inhaled, the smoke invaded the mind and clouded one's judgement.[4]
