Deltarune is an indie game made by Toby Fox, thought of first, made after Undertale. The story is about two Lightners and a Darkner in a world where the war between Monsters and Humans never happened and they all lived in harmony. You play as a SOUL, controlling a nonbinary teenager human named Kris who has a deep hatred for You, going on wacky adventures with your friend and ex-oneway enemy Susie and the darkner Ralsei. As the game progresses, the Roaring gets closer and Kris disobeys you more and more, or alternatively, the Roaring gets closer, Kris disobeys you more and more, and Noelle goes a bit crazier each chapter after killing Berdly. Huzzah!
Kris' description: While in a Dark World, Kris functions as the party's leader, issuing commands, giving equipment, and managing the team's inventory. During a battle, Kris excels at ACTing, and their ACTs have varying effects. Kris wields a sword to deal damage, and can summon a separate, pink shield when DEFENDing.
For the majority of the game, Kris is controlled by the player, with their choices transferring via Completion FILEs. Kris moves independently during cutscenes, or when they tear the SOUL out of their body.
Kris is a human teenager with amber-colored skin and shoulder-length brown hair, with a couple of stray strands sticking out at the back of their head, and their ears are often visible from the sides. Kris's long bangs are somewhat messy and are mainly swept to the left, which also casts a shadow over their eyes. In certain circumstances, Kris's eyes turn red and glow, such as when Kris descends into a Dark World. Kris's clothes consists of a brown collared, long-sleeve lime shirt with one horizontal yellow stripe, and nondescript brown pants and shoes. Their shirt uses the lime green and yellow colors from the default Microsoft Paint palette, and Kris's skin tone uses the yellow-orange color from the very same palette.
In a Dark World, Kris's skin becomes cyan blue, and their hair color changes to navy. Kris's clothes are also replaced with silver armor, which makes them resemble a knight. This includes a set of pauldrons on their shoulders, a cuirass for their upper torso, two cuffed gauntlet leather gloves, and a set of greaves and sabatons covering their lower legs and feet. Kris gains a navy blue armless bodysuit underneath the set, and a pink cape/mantle/ascot drapes across their right shoulder. The shading for their skin and armor is also used for their mantle, which gives the illusion of blue stripes in a few of their sprites.
To the player, Kris consistently has a blank, neutral expression, and their animation is often less expressive and fluid than other characters, often reusing their standing stance or minimal edits of it. Their stillness is often contrasted with various special animations for comical effect; they perform the kozachok when dancing in Sweet Cap'n Cakes, Rouxls Kaard, and the Mikes's fights; they awkwardly shuffle left and right and perform an over-the-top pirouette when jumping in the Cooking Show, and mimic Ralsei's "squashed" sprite in the Dark Sanctuary's locked archway. During non-scripted actions in the overworld, their actions are often not displayed graphically, and merely described via narration instead.
Kris's body language is markedly different when they are about to remove or have removed the SOUL. In this state, they appear to struggle to move; their head is shown hunched over tilted down, and they stumble and stagger when walking. Their animations also have a noticeably higher frame rate in this state.
Kris's Light World appearance bears a resemblance to an unused human sprite from Undertale. In turn, their Dark World appearance resembles Varik from the Brandish series, whom Toby Fox used as the protagonist for the EarthBound Halloween Hack. The Brandish and Mother/EarthBound series have also been used as an inspiration for Deltarune and other projects by Toby Fox.
Kris is quiet and introverted.[ Their reticence causes others, suh as Susie, to be more observant of Kris's body language to gauge their reactions. Kris tends to speak in a "deadpan, mumbly voice", which causes others to occasionally repeat what they say. However, during the events of Deltarune, Noelle notes that Kris's voice sounds unusual, as if it was "on speaker". On the Weird Route, she instead does not recognize it as Kris's voice.
Kris is not normally energetic. They have a history of not waking up on time, and often sleep through the start of class. Kris also prefers someone else getting them to and from school. After Kris's brother, Asriel, left for college, they grew distant from their few friends in the intervening time before the events of Deltarune. Kris's side of their and Asriel's shared bedroom is strikingly bare; the shared game console rests underneath Asriel's bed, their old children's books are stored in Toriel's classroom, and there is nothing on their shelves. It is implied that Kris enjoys thinking back on their childhood, and that they are unsettled by the thought of growing up.
As the story progresses, Kris begins to disobey select prompts or choices they dislike or do not agree with. Kris does so by relaying the chosen prompt in a different tone, covering their mouth, coughing, or not doing anything at all. They are also shown performing actions independently of the player's control, including protecting Susie from King and the Sound of Justice or drinking juice with her in church.
Kris enjoys playing the piano, and they have searched for tutorials to play video game songs. They are proficient, as Toriel and the nurse praise Kris's skills. During the events of Deltarune, Kris is not able to fully and smoothly play the piano with the player's input. Kris still has an interest in playing the piano, as they can play piano renditions of several songs from the Deltarune soundtrack offscreen, and has a negative reaction to the "I'll never play again" prompt in Chapter 4.
Kris favors sweet food, with Toriel's pie being their favorite. They enjoy chocolates, as they always sneak one unprompted from a Box of Heart Candy, and prefer a Hot Chocolate to have "melted candy bars". Additionally, Choco Diamonds heal Kris the most compared to the other party members. At one point, they dedicate some of their time to mix together chocolate syrup with milk and gulp the concoction down all at once.
Much like Frisk from Undertale, Kris is portrayed as a gender-neutral character. They are consistently and exclusively referred to with the gender neutral singular "they" pronoun in the game and all external material. At one point during the UNDERTALE 6th Anniversary stream, where co-hosts Reid Young and Dan Moore refer to Kris by saying "He's stuck in a cutscene", Toby Fox repeats them by saying "They're stuck.", seemingly correcting Young and Moore.
Aside for their pronouns, various elements in-game avoid specifically gendering Kris. When using the "TakeCare" or "TakeCareX" ACT against Virovirokun in Chapter 2, Kris can appear with either a doctor's headband, a nurse's cap, or neither. This is unique to them, as all other characters only have one possible outfit. A sign in Mancountry describing the location as "A MAN'S WORLD" has an addendum noting that "NON-MEN ARE A-OK, TOO." "Kris" is also a gender-neutral name.
Years prior to the events of Deltarune, Kris was adopted by the Dreemurrs when they were a young child, and grew up in a loving family. However, as the only human in Hometown, Kris often felt like an outsider. Kris once asked their adoptive parents when their "horns were going to grow in". In response, Toriel and Asgore bought a headband with red horns for Kris, who wore it for months. At some point, Kris gained an interest in playing the piano. They frequently played the hospital piano despite it missing "good keys".
Growing up, Kris was very close with their older brother, Asriel. The two often spent time with their neighbors, Dess and Noelle, watching TV together and exploring the forests around town. While the four were close friends, Kris and Noelle grew apart over the years. The cause for this is unknown. Kris had also wanted to befriend Bratty, as she was one of the "big kids". They willingly complied and retrieved food for her until she became sick.
At some point, Toriel and Asgore divorced. While their family was broken, Kris and Asriel remained inseparable. On occasion, Asriel would buy Kris a hot chocolate at QC's Diner, the place they used to frequent as a whole family. One day, Asriel moved out to go to college, leaving Kris alone and without many friends, though they kept in contact before Hometown's internet outage.
Susie's Description: Susie is a tall, teenage reptilian monster with lavender purple scales. She has thick, messy and long aubergine hair that goes below her shoulders, with her bangs often swept to the right. Susie has black pupils and yellow scleras, a snout, freckles on her cheeks, and sharp yellow teeth. Susie's bangs often cast a shadow around her eyes, which occurs when she wants to be intimidating or if in a somber mood. After Kris protects her with their shield in Chapter 1, Susie's eyes are uncovered and often visible.
Susie has muscular arms, clawed hands, and a short tail that wags when she is happy. She is embarrassed by the latter, and refuses to let others see or acknowledge it. Susie's reaction to Jevilstail indicates that she would rather not have a short tail. Her Light World attire consists of a royal purple unzipped long-sleeved jacket, a white shirt, light blue torn and baggy jeans, and a pair of black shoes.
In the Dark World, Susie's scales change to orchid purple, and her hair is dark plum colored. Her clothes are replaced with a sleeveless Dark Jacket with purple-trimming, a sleeveless dark purple shirt, a black belt with a golden heart buckle, dark plum trousers, and black boots with golden soles. Around Susie's wrists and triceps are sets of black bracelets with golden spikes.
Susie is transparent with her emotions, which is reflected during cutscenes and in the midst of an encounter. She often makes an exaggerated expression and pose when angered, surprised, or amused. Some of these sprites occasionally depicts Susie's sclera and teeth as white instead of yellow. Some of these poses are also references, such as her "Sheeh!" pose, which originates from the Osomatsu-kun manga, or performing a team fist pump pose similar to Crono's victory pose in Chrono Trigger.
Susie appears to be left-handed. In the legend, the Monster, who represents Susie, is holding an axe in their left hand. Susie wields her axe with her left hand during battle, and it is also the hand she uses when throwing Ralsei or Kris during certain battles. Despite this, she destroys the Last Prophecy tapestry with her right hand in Chapter 4.
Susie is outspoken, rude, sarcastic, brutally honest, and quick to insult. She is selfish and rebellious, tending to protest or favor her own interests. At times, she threatens with physical violence, occasionally as a joke. In a Dark World, Susie generally has no qualms with FIGHTing Darkners unless she is friends with them.
Despite Susie's crudeness, she is gentle and mindful to those who are kind to her. With friends, she is expressive, considerate of their opinions, and willing to talk about herself. Susie enjoys being with her friends, and often favors teasing them. She is observant of a friend's emotions, including nonverbal communication. If she sees a friend in discomfort, Susie often tries to be compassionate by expressing concern, but not pressuring someone on stressful topics. Susie is also loyal, readily wanting to assist a friend if they are in danger or troubled.
In general, Susie enjoys childish antics and causing mischief. This ranges from dressing up as a box, wanting to enter a freezer, or chasing Maus on all fours. She likes compliments, and is easily flattered. Susie enjoys receiving gifts, and is possessive of items given to her. She is occasionally particular with items, as she dislikes wearing ribbons, can refuse certain equipment choices, such as having armor removed or re-equipping Mane Ax.
Susie has a large appetite, as she complains if Ralsei is given Dark Candy. She eats almost anything, such as chalk, and she reacts positively to the non-food in her refrigerator in Ralsei's castle. Susie favors moss, Darkburger, marshmallows, and peppermint, such as the Light World version of ReviveMint. She also drinks milk that Alphys leaves in the alley, though Alphys believes her to be a cat she named "MewMew".
Years prior to Deltarune, Susie had moved to many different towns before moving to Hometown. In one of the past towns, she once tried to play the public piano at the town's plaza, but was prevented from doing so.That night, Susie returned to the plaza and vandalized the piano by smashing it. She has attended at least one other school.
In Hometown, Susie attends the same class as Kris, having arrived as a new student at some point. At an unspecified time after Susie's arrival to Hometown, Toriel found her crying at the graveyard's bench, to which she took Susie to QC's Diner, bought her a hot chocolate and comforted her. Susie is close to being expelled from school due to unknown past incidents and is feared among her classmates as well as by Alphys, due to her bad behavior and threatening appearance. Monster Kid described her as "creepily" watching them and their friends playing handball on one occasion; when the ball rolled over to her, she kicked the ball as hard as possible at Undyne's car.
It is vaguely implied that Susie has had a rough home life. Her reaction to her room in Ralsei's castle implies she is unfamiliar with the concept of having her own room, and her tendency to eat pretty much anything even remotely edible could indicate she has been living off of whatever scraps she could find for an extended period of time. Susie also does not contact her parents when being asked to do so by Toriel. Her aggressive disposition, then, could be a byproduct of said home life. In Chapter 4, interacting with the easternmost tenement building prompts her to describe it as "boring" in an attempt to deflect Kris's attention, implying she lives there.
Ralsei's Description: Ralsei is a short monster-like Darkner. During Chapter 1, he wears a pointed green hat that covers his horns and conceals his features in shadow, making his fur appear black. The tuft on Ralsei's head and the tips of his ears are unkempt, and his two fangs peek in front of his scarf. Ralsei wears round green glasses, a pink scarf, and a long, green robe with a black heart in the center, and the lower sweep appearing tattered. His arms are usually hidden beneath his robe, so in battle, his scarf sometimes acts as an arm and can lift his hat to use an item. Occasionally, he reveals his arms and the robe's long green sleeves, such as when using a spell.
Ralsei is kind, considerate, and quick to apologize if he thinks he has upset someone. He is also gentle and believes that FIGHTing is unnecessary, favoring pacifism in battles while leaving the final decision to Kris. However, he himself makes an exception to this rule if an enemy is inherently hostile and cannot be SPAREd. Ralsei is humble, as he does not expect to be chosen over others and bows to everyone when ACTing.
Ralsei is affectionate, and loves both giving and receiving hugs. He once hugged the Dummy to "test it out", can perform Heal Prayer with a hug and ask Kris to hug him instead of the Dummy. Being complimented or given affection easily flusters him, and he is often self-conscious, citing this as the reason he concealed his face.
Ralsei is reluctant to get angry. At most, he appears disappointed when Kris or Susie act mean. Ralsei is somewhat naive and innocent, as he readily forgives King when he feigns surrender, but learns to not always be so trustful of others after King's ambush. Ralsei is also responsible, as he encourages Susie and Kris to do their homework and emphasizes the importance of education. If tasked with unfamiliar situations, he prefers to read instructions.
Ralsei cares immensely about his friends, and is willing to protect them with his life, and to take any pain on behalf of them. He also supports others establishing friendships, as he favors helping Lancer despite his status. Believing that his purpose is to make Kris and Susie happy, Ralsei initially worries that his opinions or desires that do not directly benefit others are "selfish". This guilt leads him to leave his room in his castle unfurnished, as he thinks that there is no reason for him to have anything personal. He also considers friendship to be a responsibility he cannot fully fulfill as a Darkner, which brings him sorrow, yet he views even this sorrow as selfish.
Despite these worries, Ralsei frequently expresses so-called "selfish" wishes and opinions. As early as Chapter 1, he orders Susie not to make fun of him if she wants him to bake her cakes. If Kris throws away his Manual, Ralsei initially pretends that he is fine with it. However, he becomes offended and later subtly reminds Kris of the action by placing a trash can in their room.
When Susie reassures Ralsei that he deserves to have his own room, he admits that Susie is nice to the point of making his heart hurt and confesses to Kris that he feels as though he is developing his own opinions, likes, dislikes, desires, and fears. When Kris reassures Ralsei that it is acceptable for a Darkner to feel this way, he becomes happy and takes this sentiment to heart, later repeating it to Pink.
Starting in Chapter 5, due to encouragement from Susie and Kris, Ralsei begins to be more open about his feelings, openly expressing anger towards Flowery, to the point of lashing out and attacking him, and takes on a more sassy attitude, teasing Orange along with the rest of the party.
Ralsei initially refuses to curse, often being hesitant to do so or replacing vulgar words. After he becomes more comfortable with his own personality later in the story, he freely curses along with the rest of the party.
When faced with absurd situations, Ralsei sometimes ends the interaction by saying "Okay". Ralsei occasionally uses British or Australian English words such as "lift" to refer to an elevator, and "fancy" or "chuffed" to refer to liking something.
Similarly to other Darkners, he is very knowledgeable about the Dark World, and has some knowledge of the Light World as well. At times, Ralsei informs of gameplay mechanics such as the SOUL's function, Controls, Recruits, knows which equipment can be given to other party members, and reminds Kris to SAVE.
Uniquely from other Darkners, Ralsei is capable of sensing a "dark presence" from Dark Fountains, which often motivates him to transfer into another Dark World on his own. He has complete knowledge of the prophecy, though he did not choose to bear it.
Aware of the prophecy's tragic ending, Ralsei makes efforts to prevent it from happening by only disclosing select parts of the prophecy and being kind, informing Kris in Chapter 1 that kindness may change the outcome of their adventures. When he discovered that the prophecy tapestries within the Dark Sanctuaries remained unchanged despite his efforts, he became overwhelmed with stress and hopelessness, finding it difficult to feign a smile to hide his fears. His hope is renewed by Susie at the end of the Chapter.
Noelle is a teenage, reindeer-like monster with short brown fur. The top of her head has two three-pronged, rounded velvet antlers, two deer ears on the side, and thick, long golden blonde hair. Her face has large eyes with eyelashes, freckles on her cheeks, a snout with a red nose and buck teeth. She has paws, a short raised brown tail with a white underside, and black hooves for feet.
Her clothes consist of a red and green checkered V-neck sweater with black sleeves, which is over a white button-up shirt, and a black skirt. Noelle's outfit resembles traditional private school female uniforms. This fashion choice is often associated with the prestige of such institutions, making her stand out from her more casually-dressed peers, and could be an early hint at her family's wealth.
Noelle's red nose is likely a reference to the Christmas story Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, while her red and green sweater is associated with Christmas colors. Reindeer are often associated with Christmas, such as Santa's reindeer.
In the Dark World, Noelle's hair is pale blonde and her fur has a slight pink tint. She wears a long white hooded cloak with long wide sleeves, always with the hood down. Unlike her Light World appearance, where she smiles by default, she has a neutral, unsmiling expression in the Dark World.
Noelle is friendly and cheerful, often seen smiling and laughing. She is considerate, helping Alphys retrieve chalk and Berdly and Kris with studying and homework. Her speech mannerisms are very polite in the Japanese localization.
Noelle is also very timid, easily flustered, unassertive, and sometimes has trouble voicing her thoughts. She apologizes often, and stays quiet about her feelings, such as her crush on Susie or her frustration with Berdly. Her father describes her as "defenseless" and scared of everything, including horror movies, bugs, and Santa Claus. She becomes braver from her adventures in the Cyber World, standing up to Queen near the end of Chapter 2, losing her fear of mice, and angrily shaking Berdly when he admits his attraction to Susie (later fantasizing about doing it again). She shows even more fearlessness in the Weird Route, at least temporarily. After returning to the Light World, she directly asks Susie about her tail, and is no longer flustered nor afraid when around Susie.
She likes feeling scared since she associates fear with being comforted. This is likely the reason why she seems attracted to the idea of Susie bullying her. She nostalgically recalls Kris's scary childhood pranks on her, and enjoys Susie's good-natured scaring of her in Chapter 4.
Berdly, who is the top of their class in terms of grades, considers Noelle smarter than him. She was nearly first place in a spelling bee she participated in as a child and is a member of their school's cross country team.
She considers herself "weird". She has also expressed a desire to adopt what she and Susie jokingly considered "a severed hand" as a pet.
Noelle speaks in a polite manner, often ending sentences with a "fahaha". She often uses minced oaths and colourful phrases such as "excheese me". Noelle also tends to get flustered and stutter, especially in Susie's presence. At times, Noelle mumbles, which can occasionally be represented with being in parentheses.
Noelle grew up in Hometown with her mother and father, and was very close with her older sister, Dess. As a child, Noelle and her sister became friends with her neighbors Kris and Asriel. The four of them would often explore the forest around the graveyard together. At an unspecified point, she had also dressed up as the Angel for the Holiday Pageant
According to Rudy, she has a fear of humans hiding under her bed. This was made worse (or caused) by Kris's repeated attempts to scare her when they were younger, including at least one time they hid under her bed.
According to one of Tenna's reminisces, Noelle and her family would also spend time at the Dreemurr residence to watch the specials with the Dreemurrs. One day, however, an unspecified tragedy occurred, and it is implied that Dess either died or went missing. A short time after, Noelle attended a spelling bee, and refused to spell the word "December", causing Berdly to win.
At an unspecified point, Noelle often accidentally forgets the key to her home. Thus, she would often stay at the Dreemurr residence. Kris would also often assist Noelle by helping her break into her own room.
STORY (This is from Kris' perspective!): Kris is woken up by Toriel, who warns them that they will be late for school. Kris gets out of bed and can explore their house before leaving. Outside, Kris enters Toriel's van, and she drives southeast. At the school's entrance, Toriel grabs Kris's hand and guides them inside, while Kris follows with their head tilted down. After Toriel's parting hug, Kris enters Alphys's classroom to the left.
In the classroom, Kris asks Noelle to be their partner for the upcoming school project. When Susie suddenly barges in, Alphys instead assigns them to be with her. She then asks the two to retrieve some chalk from the supply closet.
Outside the classroom, Kris catches Susie eating chalk, and due to their silence, she accosts them. Susie releases Kris, and insists that Kris should do the group project before the two move on. Upon opening the supply closet, Kris and Susie find it inexplicably pitch-black. When Susie insists Kris should enter first, Kris steps away from the closet. She suggests they go together, and Kris follows after her. After failing to find a light switch, the floor suddenly gives way, and the two fall into the closet Dark World.
Kris wakes up alone in an unknown area, but they reunite with Susie shortly afterward. Kris and Susie get attacked by a shrouded silhouette, who chases them as they slide into an empty Castle Town. In the town, they meet Ralsei, who offers to tell a prophecy. Kris can agree to listen or claim they already know it. After Lancer ambushes Ralsei, Susie leaves on her own, and Ralsei joins Kris. Ralsei offers a Manual to them, and believes that Kris's choices matter before they enter Card Kingdom to find Susie.
As Kris ventures through the Field, they find Lancer multiple times, solve puzzles, and reunite with Susie again. Susie reluctantly joins when Ralsei emphasizes that only Kris can seal the Dark Fountain. At the Great Board, Lancer lets Kris choose a team name for the three party members. (Crumpled Paper: "The Shit Gang" / Neat Paper: "The Fun Gang" / Paper with [lancer character]'s name on it: "The [lancer character] Fanclub"
In the Forest, Kris repeatedly finds Susie and Lancer, who had formed their own team after Susie left Kris's. When Ralsei agrees to help Lancer impress Susie, Kris designs a Thrash Machine for Lancer. Past the Forest's maze, they confront the "DARK" duo and engage them in battle. Upon their defeat, Susie and Lancer decide to rejoin the team. They are later caught by King's minions and imprisoned before they can enter Card Castle.
In Card Castle's prison, Kris helps Susie solve a puzzle and escape her cell. Ralsei pulls Kris aside and tells them to close their eyes and think about Susie. They are freed by Susie soon after and venture through the castle to confront King. King feigns defeat, then violently subdues Kris and their allies. Kris attempts to protect Susie, but King knocks them back, lifts them up in the air, and taunts them. King is later defeated either with the help of Card Kingdom's Darkners or through Ralsei's Pacify spell.
Kris seals the Eastern Fountain and returns to the Light World. After bidding goodbye to Susie, they return home, where Toriel is waiting. In the middle of the night, Kris tosses and turns in bed, only to suddenly leap from their covers and make their way into the center of their room. As they stand on the carpet, Kris slowly raises their arm before violently tearing out their SOUL from their body and forcefully tossing it into a cage in the corner of the room. Kris then brandishes a knife before turning their head and smiling menacingly, with their eye flashing red.
CHAPTER 2 Kris is woken up by Toriel, who reveals that they had eaten an entire pie the previous night. They arrive late to school, and after meeting up with Susie, they return to the supply closet Dark World. There, Kris meets Ralsei again, who asks them to bring the objects from the neighboring classroom with them. Kris then leaves the Dark World on their own.
Returning with the objects, Kris explores the newly-restructured Castle Town, populated with Card Kingdom's Darkners. They are later expelled from the Dark World by Ralsei to work on their school project. In the Light World, Kris suggests working in the library, after which Susie departs on her own.
In the library, Kris enters a Dark World formed from the computer lab. In the Cyber World, they encounter Queen and discover that Noelle and Berdly had also found themselves in the Dark World, with the latter voluntarily joining forces with Queen. After reuniting with Ralsei again, Kris's party confronts Berdly in Cyber Field and falls into Cyber City.
In Cyber City, Kris separates with Susie and Ralsei and reunites with Noelle, who temporarily joins them. Together, they solve puzzles and confront Berdly again while evading Queen. While stuck in traffic, Kris ventures alone and encounters Spamton in a dumpster. They later reunite with the rest of the party, but they are all caught by Queen and imprisoned before they can enter Queen's Mansion.
In their own personalized room, Kris is freed by Lancer, who had entered their inventory when they were expelled from Castle Town. They venture through the mansion and confront Queen, who holds Noelle and Berdly hostage. Queen escapes to her GIGA Queen mecha, but Kris defeats her with their own Thrash Machine mecha.
Kris seals the library Fountain and returns to the Light World. After depositing the Cyber World Darkners in Castle Town, they return home with Susie, where Toriel invites Susie to stay over. Kris asks to wash their hands before they prepare a pie, and upon turning the water on in the bathroom, they rip out their SOUL and leaves through the window.
Kris returns after some time and re-inserts their SOUL, then watches the TV with Susie. When Susie asks who Kris wants to go with to the upcoming festival, they can choose to mention Susie, Noelle, Ralsei, or not say anything. The two fall asleep watching the TV. Later in the night, Kris rips out their SOUL again. They open the front door, turn on the TV, then briefly look at Susie before creating the Dreemurr residence Fountain in the middle of their living room. Kris returns to the couch and re-inserts their SOUL as the room fills with darkness.
CHAPTER 3 Kris wakes up in a Dark World with Susie. After reuniting with Ralsei again, they are approached by Tenna, who invites them to participate in TV Time. Kris and the party begin playing The Legend of Tenna's Desert Board and later participate in the Cooking Show physical challenge. In the Cooking Show, Kris plays the role of the server, tossing food to hungry customers and dodging fire.
Kris then participates in the Island Board, where they are given the camera and tasked with reaching Atlantis Stadium. Partway through the board, Susie shuffles the controllers, allowing Kris to temporarily play as HERO_AXE (Game Susie). The board's physical challenge, the Rock Video, has Kris take the role of a guitar player, and they are tasked with playing a concert.
After Susie grows suspicious of Tenna, Kris and their party sneak out of the Green Room and discover an imprisoned Toriel. Tenna sends them back to the game show and forcibly subjects them to a bonus round. During the bonus round, Kris participates in each physical challenge alone, but they later escape by exploiting a Zapper's ACT options.
Kris traverses the greater TV World and confronts Tenna, who implores Kris to remember the times they used to watch him. A flashback scene depicts Kris along with the rest of the Dreemurr and Holiday families watching TV together. As each member of the group disappears one-by-one, Kris is the second-to-last to disappear, preceded by Asriel and followed by Toriel.
Kris then engages Tenna in battle and defeats him. They later engage in battle against the Knight when it attacks Tenna, after which Kris pursues the Knight into the Light World. Kris is dragged by Susie to the shelter, whereupon the door slightly opens in front of them after Susie leaves them alone.
CHAPTER 4 Kris is woken up by Toriel in the living room and has breakfast with Susie. They then travel to the church for service, where Kris questions the churchgoers for information concerning the shelter codes. Concluding that their best lead is Carol, Kris and Susie ask Noelle if they can work on their school project at her house in order to investigate further. Kris and Susie can then explore Hometown and hang out with each other.
At Noelle's House, Kris investigates Dess's guitar, but they rip out their SOUL before they can fully read the code inside. They toss the SOUL in a small storage closet before heading to the kitchen, where they hold a call with an unknown person while preparing chocolate milk. If the SOUL is caught at this point, Kris tosses it back into the closet and returns to the kitchen, where they eventually walk to the piano and play piano renditions of several songs from Deltarune's soundtrack.
Eventually, Kris catches the SOUL as it attempts to reach the guitar again and traps it in Dess's closet. They repeatedly strike the SOUL with a hockey stick as it attempts to reach the guitar on the other side of the closet. After Susie takes the guitar, Kris informs the unknown person of the situation and re-inserts their SOUL, after which they briefly collapse to the ground.
After being expelled from Noelle's House by Carol, Kris heads back to the church to wait for Toriel, only to find a Dark World inside the lobby, In the Dark Sanctuary, Kris confronts the Knight again, but they are knocked down to the lower levels of the Dark World. Injured, Kris collapses again, but Ralsei arrives and heals them. They then traverse the Dark Sanctuary to make it back to the Dark Fountain.
After sealing the Dark Sanctuary Fountain, Kris traverses Susie's 2nd Sanctuary in search of the code to a locked church door in the Light World. Eventually, they both come across a darkened room and are attacked by the Sound of Justice. Kris parries one of its attacks in Susie's defense and fights until Ralsei destroys the statue. Kris then seals the Dark Fountain after learning the code to the locked door and returns to the church lobby.
Kris then traverses the 3rd Sanctuary and confronts the Knight again, upon which the Knight creates a Dark Fountain and gives form to a Titan. Kris defeats the Titan by jumping into it and sealing it as if it were a Dark Fountain. They then seal the 3rd Sanctuary Fountain and return to the Light World.
Upon returning home with Susie, Kris discovers Toriel dancing with Sans in the living room, prompting Susie to leave. In the middle of the night, Kris tosses and turns in their bed attempting to drown out the muffled noise from Toriel and Sans until Susie's arrival quiets them. Kris walks up to the window and climbs up the windowsill when they receive a call from the unknown caller, reminding them of a promise they had made.
SIDE CHARACTERS Lancer: Son of Card Castle's King. Described as silly, stupid and bouncy. Literally. Berdly: Nerd of the classroom, gets straight A's and is favored by the teacher at the cost of people expecting him to do all of their things all of the time. Favored after winning a spelling bee against Noelle while she had to spell "DECEMBER" and couldn't speak. Has a crush on Susie. Roulx Kaard: The puzzle master of the Card Castle. Stupid. Whenever one of his puzzles go wrong, he says "GOD. DAMNIT." and storms off quickly. Turned the weather duo into a weather throuple after they broke up. Mr. (ant)Tenna: The main antagonist of Chapter 3, abandoned by everyone after the channels on it got old. Can be brought to The Dark World in Chapter 4, or gifted to Napstablook for Tenna to end up loved and cared for. Starwalker: ...Huh? Known for usually only saying "This [x] is pissing me off. I'm the original Starwalker" with a bunch of spaces between "original" and "Starwalker." He's funny, I like 'em. Queen: Main antagonist of Chapter 2. Only talks "In This Way That I Am Talking In Right Now Without The Quotes" in dialogue. Says Lmao, Idk, and Lol. Knows internet stuff. Spamton: "HEY EVERY!!! ITS YOUR FAVORITE SALESMAN SINCE 1997 SPAMTON G. SPAMTON!!" Talks like he's insane, only in capital letters. The only times he's not talking in capitals is when he's saying [[Hyperlink Blocked]] and things in []. Wants your SOUL ([HeartShapesObject]) a lot. Will add more later.
