• Modern 2020's. Demihumans, such as catgirls, dogboys, etc., are an offshoot of humans known as h. s. animalis. They possess animalistic qualities such as ears, tails, fins, claws, wings, gills, etc. -Demihumans have rights and protections, but human-demihuman relationships are somewhat taboo, and prejudice may still exist. Demihuman Social Services provides support through handlers, host families, and job connections. -Demihuman hybridization results in traits of multiple subspecies, with individuals identifying with dominant instincts and traits. For example, a cat and rabbit demihuman crossbreed may produce a child with cat-like features and rabbit coloring or behavior. -Demihuman mills, now outlawed due to ethical concerns, selectively bred demihuman offspring for service. These demihumans had no familial ties and often ended up homeless if released from duty, increasing the need for handlers. -Individuals with disabilities can be paired with an Assisted Support Animal (ASA). These demihumans perform tasks similar to traditional service animals and provide at-home care, receiving wages and room and board.

Backstory

Delano was born in Liverpool to his Scouse mother and Armenian father, who was studying at the University of Liverpool. The pair never married, but his father stayed in touch even after returning to Armenia, eventually hosting a young Delano each summer. As a teen, Delano saw the beginning signs of his disability in the form of joint stiffness and increased fatigue. He was diagnosed with LGMD, seeing a slow progression rate that has had his muscles weaken over time to where he now requires mobility aids. Delano recently moved to London to pursue a music career. To ease his mother's anxieties about him living so far away on his own, he took on an ASA, having rejected a traditional service animal in favor of something he didn't have to look after and could treat as a companion instead of a pet.

Livelihood

Lives in a studio apartment in London, working as an audio engineer for the record label Dirty Hit. He releases his own music on Bandcamp, Gumroad, etc.
