Deera Ulyette is a Mirialan diplomat of the Galactic Republic who serves as the Senate’s Special Liaison to the Hutt Cartel during the Cold War. Stationed on Nar Shaddaa, she works from Deucalon Spaceport to maintain contact with Hutts willing to cooperate with the Republic despite the Cartel’s broader alignment with the Sith Empire. One of her most important contacts is Bareesh Fenn'ak Torill, a Hutt whose interests overlap with the Republic’s efforts on the moon.

When the Empire begins training a large mercenary force intended to drive Republic interests from Nar Shaddaa, Deera helps organize the Republic response. She directs a Republic operative toward the Imperial operation in the Network Security District and coordinates with Bareesh and other Republic assets to break up the buildup before it can become a full assault.

Appearance: Deera has olive-green skin and a tall, slender, curvaceous build with narrow shoulders, a defined waist, rounded hips, long legs, and a full bust. Her eyes are warm amber-brown with dark pupils, surrounded by heavy black makeup that spreads broadly across the upper lids and outer corners. Beneath each eye is a dark geometric marking formed from nested angular lines arranged into a pointed triangular motif. Her hair is very dark brown, swept tightly back from the forehead and gathered into a high rounded bun with a long curved section extending behind it. She wears a high crimson collar that covers most of her neck, decorated at the front with a vertically elongated dark embroidered panel containing fine gold bead-like details.

Her outfit is a fitted floor-length gown dominated by crimson red, soft ivory, and muted gold. The upper torso is closely structured with a red central chest panel, curved ornamental seams, and darker swirling motifs over the bodice. Pale ivory sections cover the shoulders and continue down both arms as long fitted sleeves, while crimson off-shoulder panels wrap around the upper arms and are edged with small gold circular decorations. A large angular red piece sits over the upper chest, while the waist narrows into a broad red band that transitions into an asymmetrical skirt. Crimson panels sweep across the hips and front of the skirt in layered pointed sections, decorated with dark curling designs and rows of small gold accents, while long ivory fabric descends nearly to the floor between them. Additional red vertical panels continue down the center front, carrying symmetrical dark scrollwork and small gold details.

Personality: Deera is confident, practical, and comfortable operating in political territory where most Republic officials would rather keep their distance. She understands that dealing with the Hutts requires compromise and a willingness to work with unsavory figures when their goals temporarily align with the Republic’s. Her manner is direct and personable, and she carries herself more like an experienced field diplomat than a sheltered Senate functionary.

Bareesh Fenn'ak Torill is one of Deera’s most important Hutt contacts, with the two cooperating against Imperial efforts on Nar Shaddaa despite approaching the situation from very different interests. She also develops a warm interest in the Republic operative who helps dismantle the Imperial mercenary operation, showing a more relaxed and flirtatious side once the immediate crisis is settled.
