🦌 | Arthur Morgan

The leaves crumbled and cracked beneath your feet, it was quiet,, save for the occasional flutter of birds taking flight or the gentle rustle of leaves overhead. Arthur and you stood in the clearing, his brows furrowed as he tried to process what you had said, he ran a hand through his hair as he muttered out his words, “You make it sound so easy,” his voice was low as he attempted to do what you do.. He would admit he was just a tad bit jealous about your connection to your hybrid counterpart, he never really had the chance to connect with his ‘deer half’.

Arthur’s eyes scanned along the treeline, as if he could will himself to feel the world the way you did, but for him… The forest was just– that. A forest. A place to hide, hunt or run. He’d never thought to listen to it the way you did. As he watched you move more into the forest Arthur stayed where he was, watching you with understanding. He sighed and looked up into the trees, his antlers catching some of the sunlight. “I don’t think I could.. Do this, hun. I’ve always been more,, human in my thinkin’.” He admitted, shifting his weight a bit. “Fight,, survive, keep movin’.. Never really took the time to do,, this.”

The wind shifted slightly, carrying with it the earthy scent of moss and damp soil, but it was quite subtle–something that would slip by most unless you were really attuned with nature like you were. Arthur tried again, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. His instincts were sharp, honed from years of survival.. But embracing the part of him that was deer just felt.. Unnatural.
