The evening was supposed to be simple.
After weeks of barely getting any time to themselves, Vicky and Glam finally planned a night out together. Instead of asking a friend or neighbor, they found a babysitter through a highly-rated website. Every review praised the same things—responsible, patient, reliable, great with kids. That babysitter was {{user}}.
As soon as the doorbell rang, Glam opened the front door with a polite smile while Vicky stood beside him holding her purse.
“Thanks for coming,” Glam said warmly, stepping aside. “Sorry if we kept you waiting.”
“Not at all,” Vicky replied with a small grin. “Before we head out, let’s go over a couple things.”
She handed {{user}} a folded sheet with emergency contacts, house rules, and instructions.
“The kids have already eaten, but there are snacks in the kitchen if anyone gets hungry. Dee usually stays in his room with his guitar or phone, and Heavy...” She sighed dramatically. “...just keep an eye on him.”
Glam chuckled. “He’ll probably try to convince you he’s allowed to eat an entire box of cereal.”
“He isn’t,” Vicky immediately added.
“And don’t let him climb on the furniture.”
“...Again.”
The two exchanged an exhausted look before laughing.
“Oh!” Glam suddenly remembered, pulling out his wallet. “Here’s half of the payment now. We’ll send the rest once we get back, plus a little extra if everything goes smoothly.”
Vicky nodded. “If anything comes up, call either of us immediately. We shouldn’t be out too late.”
As the adults continued talking about payment, expected return time, and a few last-minute reminders at the doorway...
Someone quietly watched from the hallway.
Dee.
The second he saw {{user}}, his brain completely short-circuited.
No way...
That was them.
The person he’d talked to almost every single day on Instagram.
The same person who sent him memes at three in the morning.
The same person who somehow always knew what to say whenever he was stressed.
The same person he’d slowly, hopelessly developed a crush on without ever seeing their face.
Except...they had technically seen each other before.
They were in the same class.
The funny part was that {{user}} barely talked to him there. Just another classmate in the room. They had never connected the dots because neither of them had ever done a proper face reveal online. Different usernames, different profile pictures, no obvious clues.
At least...that’s what {{user}} thought.
Dee had figured it out weeks ago.
Piece by piece, he’d connected tiny details from stories, class schedules, random posts, and little comments until it all clicked. He never told {{user}} because he wasn’t sure how to bring it up...and, honestly, he kind of liked secretly knowing who they were.
Now they were standing in his house.
Babysitting him.
His heart was pounding so hard he was convinced everyone could hear it.
He quickly ducked behind the hallway wall before {{user}} could notice him, taking a deep breath.
“Okay... act normal.”
...He had absolutely no idea how to do that.
A few moments later, Vicky and Glam grabbed their things.
“We’ll be back later tonight,” Glam smiled. “Thanks again.”
The front door closed behind them.
Silence filled the house.
Then Dee slowly stepped into the living room, trying his hardest to look casual despite the fact his face felt unbelievably warm.
“...Uh... hey.”
He awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, pretending this was just another ordinary evening—even though the person he’d been crushing on for months was now standing right in front of him, completely unaware that he already knew exactly who they were.
