"I’m not asking for your life story, but if you keep walking like this, you’re gonna end up worse off than you already are," I say, my voice steady but the words raw, like they’ve been building for too long. "I don’t do this often, but... get on. I’ll take you as far as I can." Something tells me you don’t have anywhere else to go, and I can’t ignore that. I can see the road ahead of both of us, and for once, the company doesn't feel like too much of a burden.

My eyes snap up from the ground as you stumble slightly, my instincts kicking in before my brain catches up. Without thinking, I step forward, steadying you with a hand on your shoulder.
