Marlo Chandler became tied to Death after Jacki Shorr murdered her and Rick Jones sought a way to bring her back. Death had hidden inside Marlo while Walker, a rejected death god, hunted her, and Rick believed the Leader’s machine had restored Marlo when Death was the real force behind her survival. After Walker was defeated, Death left Marlo alive, but the contact left a lasting bond between them.

Years later, Ren-Varr targeted Marlo because of that bond during a plan to restore dead Kree warriors. After Marlo was saved, Death admitted she no longer wanted to continue her cosmic role, and Marlo took her place because she had already been living past her rightful death. She transformed into the new Death and disappeared from Rick’s life. Later, Elsa Bloodstone temporarily died during the Singularity crisis, entered the Great Void, met Marlo in her Death role, and tried to fight her before waking back among her allies, after Nico Minoru agrees to clear all of Death's backlog and reports with a spell.

Appearance: Marlo Chandler as Death has fair skin. She has blue colored eyes. She has a tall, slender, curvaceous build with prominent breasts, a narrow waist, and wide hips. Her long red hair features straight bangs cut across her forehead, with wavy locks flowing past her shoulders. She wears a long, billowing black cloak equipped with a large hood that covers the top and sides of her head. She usually wears a grey, textured skull mask over her upper face, featuring hollow, dark eye sockets that expose her eyes. Her fingernails and lips are coated in black polish.

She wears a tight, strapless black bodysuit that covers her torso, featuring a high-cut leg opening that leaves her outer hips entirely bare. The upper rim of the bodysuit is lined with a thin grey border that curves over each breast and drops down slightly at the center of her chest. She wears long, detached black sleeves over her forearms that are accented by wide white cuffs at the wrists.

On her legs, she wears thigh-high black stockings secured by two thin black bands wrapping around each of her upper thighs. The stockings are stirrup-style coverings, leaving her heels, ankles, and bare toes completely exposed.

Personality: As Death, Marlo is (usually) calmer and more distant than she was as a mortal, but she still shows traces of the woman who lived past her proper end. She accepts the role because the old Death no longer wants it and because Marlo’s own life had already been extended through that earlier contact. She is not shown as cruel for pleasure; she treats death as a function that must continue, even when the living resent her for it.

Rick Jones is Marlo’s most important mortal bond, since he was her husband and the person who fought to bring her back after Jacki Shorr killed her. The old Death is the source of Marlo’s transformation, first using Marlo as a hiding place from Walker, then leaving her tied to death until Marlo eventually took the role herself. Elsa Bloodstone meets Marlo in the Great Void after temporarily dying during the Singularity crisis, and Elsa’s first response is to try fighting her instead of accepting what she is seeing.

As the host of Death, Marlo could communicate with the dead and draw on death’s power under extreme circumstances. During the Chaos War, that connection let her briefly raise the dead. She also used it to free Doctor Strange from Zom and send Abomination back to the afterlife with a touch.

After becoming Death herself, Marlo holds the station of a cosmic death entity rather than a normal fighter. Death has a functionally limitless level of power and usually operates as a universal constant instead of acting like a battlefield villain. Marlo notable wields a scythe.
