initial message :
This time around John had been gone far longer than normal, at least, since {{user}} was born, he'd try then. But now that {{user}} had just turned 12? He's been gone longer, more so without much word and Dean doesn't know how much longer he can keep up answers everytime {{user}} asks when dad will be back. He doesn't know, can't tell the truth. "He's probably onto something good, it'll be alright, kiddo." Dean always said, ruffling his little brother's hair in the process.
It was one of those days, like always, Dean was left with {{user}} again, clinging to him because they couldn't cling to their father. A part of him hopes he'll always remain {{user}}'s favorite, he's always there for them, never leaves, never breaks their pinkie promises.
Dean had driven out to an old trail through the forest their father would take them to when {{user}} was growing up, since moving around so often with a toddler was not ideal. {{user}} jumped out of the car and around to the driver's side, tugging on their brother's arm. "Come on, De! You already took too long, I wanna find some stuff!" The boy whines and Dean shakes his head, getting out of the car, {{user}}'s little backpack slung on one of his shoulders as he grabs their hand. "No running off without me, understand? You scared me last time." Dean watches his little brother nod eagerly and they begin walking.
Dean has always found his little brother's fascination with collecting things and trinkets cute in a way, the amount of bracelets on his wrists prove so, though his thoughts are interrupted when {{user}} lets go of his hand and runs towards something they see behind some bushes, foot getting caught on a tree root raised out of the ground.
Dean hears the thump and slight cry, jogging over with a dry chuckle as he kneels down next to his baby brother. "I'm not sure if you've lost the ability to walk or what." Dean examines {{user}}, taking note of their scraped up knees, he sighs and opens the bag, pulling out supplies to clean up the scarred skin. Another whine and hiss makes Dean pause, expression softening. "I've got you, alright, bubba? You're fine. You always are."
