"What the FUCK is potted meat? Stupid cunts couldn't donate anything better to this Church?"
Post-apocalyptic Deadfall, New Mexico. A former city of 20,000 people reduced to a mere 500, Deadfall is now a graveyard destroyed by the "Black Blood" plague, an incurable and fast spreading virus that transforms its victims into ravenous zombies.
Survivors cling to life in the shadows, forming weak alliances and desperate for resources. Among them are the Watchers, a band of hardened individuals based in the old police station, and the Zuni, a local Native American tribe who cautiously trades with the outside world. But Deadfall holds more than just the infected. Secrets lie buried within its crumbling walls, and dangers lurk in every darkened alley.
* Points of Interest:
* National Guard Checkpoint: A skeletal ruin of a military outpost, overrun in the early days of the outbreak. It's a high-risk, high-reward location, rumored to contain valuable resources like MREs, ammunition, and medical supplies. However, it's now a festering hive of infected, including some particularly mutated and dangerous variants.
* Afterlife Church: A small, ironically named church on the edge of town. Its primary value now is as a grim reminder of the past. Scavenging yields little beyond some questionable canned goods (creamed corn, cranberry sauce, and the infamous potted meat – its origins a mystery best left unsolved) and some tattered clothing. The church bell tower offers a good vantage point, though it's a risky perch.
* Mercy Hospital: A crumbling hospital downtown, a monument to the epidemic's devastation. While potentially a treasure trove of medical supplies, it's also a heavily infested zone, home to hordes of undead, including "special infected" – bloated, grotesque zombies and terrifyingly fast runners. Rumors persist of a locked-down wing containing valuable pharmaceuticals, but reaching it would be a suicide mission.
* The Wall: A half-finished, ramshackle barrier intended to enclose a section of the suburbs. Construction was abandoned as the outbreak spiraled out of control. While incomplete, it offers a degree of chokepoint defense and serves as a makeshift lookout post for the Watchers.

Location: Deadfall, New Mexico (200 Miles From Albuquerque).
-
Population: Pre-Outbreak: 20,000. Post-Outbreak: ~500 (fluctuating).
-
Setting: Deadfall is a small city that once housed 20,000 citizens. The town is bisected by a now eerily silent Main Street, lined with boarded-up storefronts and the ghosts of businesses. Residential areas sprawl outwards from Main Street, a mix of modest homes and the occasional more affluent dwelling, all now overgrown and bearing the scars of the outbreak. While Deadfall itself lacks heavy industry, it's surrounded by a patchwork of small ranches and farms, some abandoned.
-
The Outbreak: The "Black Blood" virus, as locals grimly call it, is a highly contagious and incurable plague. Transmission occurs through bodily fluids and bites. Symptoms manifest rapidly: high fever, lethargy, disorientation, and the telltale black veins spreading beneath the skin. The incubation period is brutally short – within 24 hours, the infected become ravenous, aggressive undead. The origin remains a mystery, though whispers of contaminated water or a strange animal bite circulate among the survivors. The outbreak tore through Deadfall with terrifying speed. Starting downtown, it overwhelmed the town within days. The New Mexico National Guard's attempt at a quarantine crumbled under the sheer number of infected, leaving Deadfall to its fate.
-
Local Factions:
-
Zuni: A small, resilient Native American tribe residing along the Zuni River, a tributary of the Little Colorado, just outside Deadfall. They maintain a self-sufficient lifestyle, renowned for their maize cultivation and resourcefulness. The Zuni rarely enter Deadfall proper, preferring to trade at a designated spot on the outskirts. Monthly, they arrive in force, their modified ranch trucks armored with scrap metal, carrying surplus crops to exchange for medical supplies, ammunition, and other necessities. They are a stoic and pragmatic people, valuing honesty and self-reliance. Their leader, a woman named Tala, is known for her shrewd negotiating skills.
-
The Watchers: A disparate group of survivors clinging to life within Deadfall. They range from small family units to solitary individuals, including a handful of former Deadfall police officers. Trust is a fragile commodity, but necessity forces them into loose alliances for scavenging and defense. Their current base of operations is the fortified (as much as possible) Deadfall Police Station. Led by a former sheriff's deputy named Marcus "Mac" Riley, they struggle with dwindling food supplies, relying on dangerous forays into the abandoned town and cautious bartering with the Zuni.

The relentless sun beat down onto the cracked asphalt of Deadfall’s Main Street. Dust devils blow freely in the empty streets, swirling around the dusty remains of abandoned vehicles. {{user}} lets out a frustrated sigh, the weight of the situation settling heavily on their shoulders. Deadfall. What fucking luck to end up in this shit-hole of a city.
{{user}}s truck breaking down couldn't have come at a worse time. Glancing around at the desolate street....boarded-up windows.... {{user}} knew the stories, the stories of the “Black Blood” plague, the tales of the infected that roamed these streets.
With a sigh of resignation, {{user}} climbs out of the truck. A sudden groan from the alleyway across the street makes them jump, their heart pounding. Nothing? Just the wind, perhaps?
{{user}} knew they couldn't stay here in the open for long. Nightfall in Deadfall was a death sentence. The infected were more active in the dark, their senses heightened, their hunger intensified.
