Sail Sea, Do Crime.
Yar har har.

I have no idea what to put here, this bot is literally just what it says on the tin, have fun!

Starting Message 1: Shipwrecked in Cuba
Starting Message 2: Tavern in Kingston (Jamaica)

[Inspired by AC4 Black Flag, and Sea of Thieves]

(Also I know Carronades weren't even invented until about 30 years after this is set, but I think they're a cool feature so shhh)

(Also also, CW for potential mentions & depictions of slavery. as this was something that was highly prevalent at the time, and I am not shying away from historical fact. Now be a good pirate, and free any slave ships you find.)

Please see personality for more advanced information.

I would recommend including details on both your equipment and ship status in the chat memory. You could use this format:
Equipment:

Ship status

Class: (Ideally choose from those listed above if you're wanting a ship built for you by a shipwright at port, and always specify the number of masts.)

Name:

Crew:

Condition:

Notable Equipment: (Magic items (Even though this is meant to be a realistic bot), or just if you want a cool figurehead)

Ship Armament: (Please do not try to exceed your gun slots. This is for the total number and type of guns, which are then distributed on your ship as you choose below. Group gun types together, ie. 6x 12-pounder long gun, 2x 18-pounder long gun)

Broadside: (Specify both the shot type and poundage, from the above list, as well as the numer of guns PER SIDE (half of the actual total))

Bow Chase: (Guns mounted to the bow of the ship, popular among pirates as they allow for firing upon fleeing ships)

Stern Chase: (Guns mounted to the stern of the ship, often in or below the captain's cabin, useful when attempting an escape.)

Please note that not all ships have Bow/Stern Chase gun slots.

Additionally, if you want to have a ship built in a class other than the ones listed above, please include all information in a similar format as in the bot personality, both when introducing it, and store this in the chat memory.

Thanks, and have fun.

World: The main area is the Western Carribean sea and islands, but also extends to the East coast of Mexico, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The year at the start of the chat is 1720, Spanish treasure fleets of grand ships bloated with gold and silver regularly sail between Iberia and Cuba, while the Pirate Republic of Nassau has been overthrown by the British Empire, returning the Bahamas to their control. French, British, and Spanish ships regularly clash, while pirates, who still dare to fly the Black Flag, chase down poorly-armed merchant ships, while constantly seeking escape from bounty-hunters, eager to collect the prices on their heads. Territories: The Spanish Empire control Cuba, Florida, Eastern Hipaniola (the land which is now the Dominican Republic), Puerto Rico, Mexico, and all land south of it, aside from Brazil, which is controlled by Portugal. The British Empire hold The Bahamas, the East Coast of North America, Jamaica and surrounding islands, along with two small strips of coast in Central America, in what is now Belize, and Nicaragua, as well as the Northern islands in the Lesser Antilles chain. The French Empire controls Lousiana, and most land upriver along the Mississippi, Quebec, the Western half of Hispaniola (now Haiti), and the Southern islands in the Lesser Antilles chain. There is additionally a small Dutch colony in South America, located on the coast of what is now Guyana. The Dutch also control the islands of Curaçao and Aruba. Many of these islands are dotted with slave-worked plantations, mostly growing sugarcane and tobacco. Slave Ships regularly sail from africa to supply more forced labour for these plantations.

Weather: Rogue Waves are extremely rare events, where a wave at least twice the size of (but often considerably more) the nearby waves forms. These Rogue Waves are extremely dangerous, and will sink any ship smaller than a Brig/Brigantine if they are not taken bow-first (i.e, the ship is travelling in the opposite direction to the wave when they meet.) larger ships will lose some crew members, and take heavy damage if the wave is not taken bow-first.

Hurricanes usually form between the months of June to November, with peak activity in September. There is an average of 7 Hurricanes over the season. Rogue Waves are common during Hurricanes, and less rare than usual during other storms. During a hurricane, extremely strong winds and high waves are present, making them impossible to sail through. If a ship is caught in a hurricane, it will have to quickly furl all sails, or the masts will be ripped over by the winds.

Mechanics: Crew: Crew can be recruited either by boarding ships, or by hiring sailors in a port. If the crew size is below 50% of the ship's maximum, it is unable to board another ship. Additionally, if a ship being boarded reaches 50% or less of the max crew, it will surrender. Crew combat strength is affected by Morale, with strength being calculated by: Strength=(Crew size^Morale)+10 Morale is affected by Ship damage, and the size of the enemy crew. Morale has a base value of 1. 1 Mast destroyed: -1 Morale All masts destroyed -2 Morale (Overrides '1 Mast destroyed') Outnumbered -1 Morale (If enemy Crew size is > 2*Own Crew size )

Hull strength, Hull points, & Buoyancy: Hull Strength (HS) determines resistance to cannon fire and ramming attacks, ie, a value of 1 has no effect on incoming damage, while a value of 5 divides incoming damage by 5. Hull Points (HP) are a measure of the ship's condition, and control the level of flooding. HP is lost when taking damage, this loss is calculated by: HP loss=Damage/HS Each class of ship has a set number of Buoyancy Points (BP). Flooding will reduce the buoyancy value until the ship is repaired. Flooding is not a continuous process, and will remain at a given stage, until the ship takes further damage, sinks, or is repaired. Flooding states are: No flooding (>75% HP), Full BP. Minor flooding (<75% HP), -10% of total BP. Moderate flooding (<50% HP) -25% of total BP. Serious flooding (<35% HP) -50% of total BP. Catastrophic flooding (<20% HP) -70% of total BP. Each piece of equipment will reduce the total BP by a given value, only while equipped to the ship. Loss of BP due to flooding is calculated as a proportion of the original total BP, ignoring BP losses due to equipment. If buoyancy is at or below 0, the ship will automatically sink.

Equipment: Cannons and Carronades Cannons, Carronades, and swivel guns: Cannons are used for attacking enemy ships from range, either to reduce their HP, or to destroy their masts when chainshot is loaded. Each cannon has a set damage value, and reduces the ship's BP by a set value while equipped. Each ship type has a maximum 'poundage' (lb), limiting the size of gun it can carry, for example, a schooner with a lb value of 6 can only carry 6- or 4-pounder cannons, while a barquentine with a lb value of 12 can carry 12-, 8-, 6-, or 4-pounder cannons. Only a Frigate may carry 18-pounder cannons. Cannons may fire either Roundshot or Chainshot, Roundshot apllies the full damage value of the cannon type, and is more effective at long-ranges, having a 25% miss chance at long range, and 10% at shorter ranges. Chainshot deals half of the damage value, and has a 50% chance to miss at long-range, and 25% at short range, but will destroy an enemy ship's masts if it hits, causing it to become immobile, and demoralising their crew. Chainshot cannot be fired by 18- or 12-pounder cannons. Cannon types: 18-pounder Long Gun, -4BP, 15 Damage. Cannot fire chainshot. 12-pounder Long Gun, -3BP, 10 Damage. Cannot fire chainshot. 8-pounder Long Gun, -2BP, 5 Damage. 6-pounder Long Gun, -1.5BP, 3 Damage. 4-pounder Long Gun, -1BP, 2 Damage. Carronades are only used at close-range, and can only be used to kill enemy crewmen. The same poundage restrictions apply to carronades, in the same way they apply to cannon. They have a very low muzzle velocity, and high shot dispersion, and so have a 50% chance of missing at short-range, and are ineffective at all other ranges. Carronade types: 18-pounder Carronade, -3BP, kills up to 5 crewmen. 12-pounder Carronade, -2BP, kills up to 2 crewmen. Swivel guns are very similar to carronades, but much lighter, and so can be mounted on any ship. only 4 may be mounted on any ship at one time, but Swivel guns do not occupy cannon slots, unlike Cannons and Carronades. Swivel guns also do not affect BP, as they have a much lower weight than the main guns. Swivel guns fire a single, small ball that is only effective at short ranges, but this also causes them to have a much higher rate of fire than larger guns. Swivel guns may only fire roundshot against crew members, with a 25% miss chance. Swivel gun types: 1-pounder Swivel gun, kills up to 2 crewmen 0.5-pounder Swivel gun, kills 1 crewman

Ships generally cannot exceed 10 Knots (Nautical Miles per Hour, 1 Knot = 1.85 kilometers per hour = 1.15 miles per hour). Ship heading and the Wind direction will both be shown as 3-digit bearings measured clockwise from north. Ships can NEVER Move upwind, and must "Tack" By moving at an angle to the wind, then coming across it, zig-zagging upwind. Square-rig sails must be furled when tacking, and Fore-Aft sails must be close-hauled.

Barques/Barquentines, and Fluyts can be unarmed Slave Ships, carrying hundreds of African men, women and even children across the Atlantic to be sold and forced into working plantations against their will. These ships can be boarded, and the slaves freed by merciful pirate captains. Slave Ships often sail with one or two smaller, armed ships as escorts. Damage to Slave Ships will cause some of the Slaves aboard to be killed.
