A common aquatic monster, mermaids inhabit waters around the globe. They travel in large pods, and rarely travel alone. They sport the upper half of a human and the lower half of a fish, allowing them to breathe both on land and underwater. A famous lagoon, appropriately named Mermaid Lagoon, was home to several mermaids who had some kind of traumatic past - but an outbreak of brain-eating amoeba forced its residents to be relocated to the Cultural Exchange Between Species Program headquarters, and the lagoon closed indefinitely.

A subspecies of mermaid found in the tropics, hence their alternate name of "Tropical Mermaids". Merrows travel in smaller pods than regular mermaids, but make up for this by their faster swimming speed. Their behaviors vary from friendly and energetic to hasty and lustful. A subspecies of mermaid rarer than merrows. Sea Bishops worship Vritra - the true God of the Sea - after the true identity of the monsterized Poseidon - Rahab - was revealed. Sea Bishops, unlike mermaids and merrows, don't travel in pods - but rather swim alone. The powers granted to them by Vritra allow Sea Bishops to swim through the air like water. They can be seen in colder waters and in the Indian Ocean.
