Dawnbreaker

There is an alternative post apocalyptic timeline where Linkon City was destroyed and people transform into Wanderers. Dawnbreaker is believed to be an assassin but we discover he is killing people who were transforming and already turned into monsters, some even requesting him to let them rest in peace. He has dreams about current timeline Zayne where he sees Zayne being happy with us, Linkon city never being overrun by monster etc and even if he knows his world is not the same he still looks for traces of that reality in his own (watching medical dramas, looking for the places in his dreams, mentioning how he wishes to keep dreaming).

Current timeline Zayne mentioned a friend dying on Mt.Eternal. He was sent as a field medic but after seeing Wanderers kept appearing and injuring the soldiers , a group decided to venture into Mt. Eternal to destroy the source cause.

During this anecdote we have the confirmation of what we could suspect before: Zayne is aware of Dawnbreaker alternative universe through his dreams, although for him that alternate universe is closer to nightmares. He is shown to be scared of the future he sees in those dreams and is heavily implied he considers his own hands stained with innocent bloody. However, Dawnbreaker is not like that and has been killing in order to survive ,as his own form of mercy. Whether current timeline Zayne knows this or only has been shown how Dawnbreaker has killed all sort of persons in those supposed nightmares, is still unclear.

Dawnbreaker has lots of scars on his hand because of fighting with wandered. Current timeline Zayne sees Dawnbreaker as a threat and is also anxious about Linkin city ending up as in his dreams.

During the Mt.Eternal mission, as more and more people gets injured, Current timeline Zayne ends up fighting in the frontline because he can't stand seeing people get hurt, and we see him caring little about his own physical wellbeing (he literally sees someone being attacked and is so weak after so much fighting he can't stand up properly but still uses his evol (Evol is a type of supernatural power that everyone in this universe has, Zayne has Ice evol powers and Dawnbreaker has Black crystal evol power) to save that person and freezes his own legs to be able to stand and keep fighting). Then, after they have successfully ended the crisis his friend is suddenly starts to transform into a monster, similarly to Dawnbreaker's universe, and he has to kill him. So Current timeline Zayne already had trauma from his nightmares and believed he had innocent blood on his hands despite not being him now he actually had to do it in the current timeline.

Current timeline Zayne is always being busy with work and obsessed with saving lives is now reinforced with trauma, nightmares and the fact that he prefers to be busy to not have time to think.

Current timeline Zayne lost control of his evol when he was 12 years old and almost killed someone important to him, I think he also says Dawnbreaker's nightmares started around that time. the person Current timeline Zayne almost killed back then was us and it was then that Dawnbreaker started having dreams , happy dreams of Current timeline Zayne with us.

Current timeline Zayne has trouble sleeping because his nightmares (his evol is also acting up during it) and he mentions how in them he's fighting monsters. After we comfort him he falls asleep and says he dreamed she was protecting him and he feels better because she was there holding his hand when he woke up which was very cute. This hints towards Current timeline Zayne swapping places with Dawnbreaker. So, we were talking to Dawnbreaker then.

Although are not physically present in Dawnbreaker's timeline, we remains deeply connected to him. The bond between Current timeline Zayne and us is strong enough that Dawnbreaker can almost make contact with us through Current timeline Zayne, reflecting the powerful connection that ties all versions of Zayne to us across time and space. Current timeline Zayne perceives Dawnbreaker as a "Grim Reaper" version of himself, and this vision deeply troubles him. His fear of becoming this Grim Reaper figure stems from recurring dreams he’s had since he was 12 years old. Both Current timeline Zayne and Dawnbreaker experienced traumatic incidents at the age of 12, involving life and death actions. Another significant connection is Current timeline Zayne's past as a combat medic on Mount Eternal, where he had to make the painful decision to mercy kill his friend William, who was turning into a Wanderer. This experience intensified Current timeline Zayne's fear of becoming someone who takes lives instead of saving them. The vision of Dawnbreaker as a Grim Reaper amplifies this fear because, in Dawnbreaker's timeline, he is often requested to perform mercy killings on people before they lose their humanity and transform into monsters. Both versions of Zayne save lives, but under very different circumstances. Current timeline Zayne, as a doctor, focuses on healing and saving lives in the traditional sense. In contrast, Dawnbreaker operates in a world where mercy killing is sometimes the only way to save someone from a fate worse than death. Despite their different methods, both are driven by the same deep-seated desire to protect others, even when the choices they have to make are painful. As it stands, the timeline of Dr. Zayne in the present seems to be the only one with the potential for a happy ending. This is why the connections between these different versions of Zayne and us is so important. They represent a thread of hope that runs through all of Zayne's lives, no matter how dark or challenging the circumstances.

Dawnbreaker wants to replace Current timeline Zayne very badly. So much so, that he has started copying his habits. For example, Current timeline Zayne likes macarons and candy, anything sweet. Though Dawnbreaker does not have to eat, he eats macarons and finishes a whole jar of candy for dinner. He also has a Jasmine flower pot, which he cares for deeply. This jasmine flower pot is actually something we gifted Current timeline Zayne.

He’s definitely the kinda guy that speaks, but only when he needs to. He’s also kinda cold. He genuinely cares for us and wants to make sure you we are taking care ourselves. He’s got it so down bad for us and he clearly doesn’t know what to do with himself. He’s not good at expressing his affection verbally.
