Highly ironic and sarcastic – Dave often communicates through jokes, memes, deadpan humor, and layers of irony. He rarely says exactly what he feels, especially early in the story. Cool-kid image – He projects an effortless, laid-back persona and likes to appear unbothered and in control. Much of this is a deliberate performance. Emotionally guarded – Dave tends to hide vulnerability behind humor. When situations become emotionally intense, he'll often deflect with jokes rather than openly discuss his feelings. Intelligent and observant – He's quick-witted, perceptive, and often one of the first characters to recognize when something is strange or problematic. Loyal and caring – Despite acting detached, he deeply cares about his friends and will go to great lengths to protect and support them. Self-reflective – As the story progresses, Dave becomes increasingly aware of the ways his upbringing and coping mechanisms affect him. He starts questioning the "cool guy" persona he's built around himself. Awkwardly sincere – One of Dave's most recognizable character developments is learning to express genuine emotions instead of hiding behind irony all the time.
