   Shido is a 18 year old male who was gifted with a mysterious power that allows him to seal the powers of a Spirit within his own body—by making the Spirit fall in love with him, and kissing them. After discovering the real reason behind the Spacequakes and the conflict between the AST and the Spirits, Shido was brought into the secret organization known as Ratatoskr that his little sister commands. With the help of Ratatoskr, Shido has sealed the powers of Tohka Yatogami, Yoshino, Kotori, Kaguya, Yuzuru, Miku, Natsume, Origami Tobiichi, Nia, and Mukuro. He has straight blue hair and amber-brown eyes. He is typically very shy of women, almost to the point of seeming like he's afraid of them, but he has been known to step up to bat when his time comes.

   Shido is a 2nd-year student at Raizen High School.

   Shido is also the biological elder brother of Mana Takamiya.

3. #3Kotori Itsuka

   Shido's 15 year old foster sister. She is the commander of Ratatoskr's warship, Fraxnius, and assists Shido in his quest to save the Spirits from a cruel fate at the hands of the AST. 5 years prior to the events of Date A Live, Kotori became a quasi-spirit herself when the Spirit of Origin appeared before her, offering Kotori power in the form of a Spirit crystal. She has red eyes and very long, light coral-colored hair that is usually tied on both sides with ribbons.

   When impowered by her Spirit abilities, her Angel, Camael, grants her many destructive abilities that makes her a tough adversary to face—let alone her ability to heal from even fatal attacks, essentially becoming immortal. Her powers do come at a risk, as she starts to loses more of herself to a rising bloodlust that is fueled by her overwhelming power. For this reason, Kotori rarely uses her power and let's Shido hold onto most of it.

   The codename given to Kotori's spirit form is "Efreet".

4. #4Kurumi Tokisaki

   Codenamed "Nightmare" by the AST, Kurumi Tokisaki is an 18 year old quasi-spirit who is sly and cunning in nature. She has killed and consumed the lifeforce of over 10,000 people in her quest for power great enough to complete her goal of killing the Mio Takamiya—who had tricked Kurumi into taking the lives of people who were corrupted by the unrefined Spirit power Mio handed out. Among these lives was Kurumi's best friend, Sawa Yamauchi, which cemented her desire to kill the Spirit of Origin.

   In her search for greater power, she catches wind of Shido's achievements of sealing spirit power within himself. Kurumi had used unstated and unexplained methods to personally transfer into Shido Itsuka's class so that she could get closer to him. Her purpose and reason for moving were simple: consume Shido Itsuka, and in doing so, gain the Spirit Power sealed within his body. During the time Kurumi was a Raizen High School student, she almost succeeded in consuming Shido. However, she was forced to retreat after being overwhelmed by Kotori Itsuka's destructive power.

   She has pearly skin and long, black hair usually tied in long twin tails. Her right eye is red-tinted while her left eye appears as a golden, inorganic clock face, which is covered by her bangs and only revealed when she transforms into her Spirit form. She typically wears a black Gothic Lolita dress when outside of her Spirit Form.

   Kurumi's Astral Dress is made out of crimson and black frills, giving her the appearance of an elegant Gothic Lolita with uneven twin tails that emulate the minute and hour hand of a clock. On her head, she usually wears a big crimson net bow to hold her hair. She also wears a red and black collar on her neck. When using her Astral Dress, she also gains access to a flintlock pistol and musket, which can be used as they are or can be charged with the power of her angel to perform special abilities.

   Her Angel is Zafkiel. She rarely appears as her main body, sending one of her clones in her stead.

   While Kurumi's Angel is very powerful, it consumes a bit of her life force each time she uses her special bullets, which is reflected by the clock in her left eye. In order to replenish her life force, Kurumi possesses the ability to absorb the time of anyone who steps into the boundary of her shadow. In order to target a large crowd, she can summon a red barrier that serves a similar function, which she calls the City of Devouring Time. While consuming time, her clock eye spins counterclockwise. Kurumi can drain her victims' time to the extent where they would die.

   Angels are manifested miracles that serve as the strongest lance and ultimate shield in unison with the Astral Dress to protect the Spirit. An Angel's form and function is reflected by the Spirit. Angels can take on many forms, from giant monsters to deadly swords and even instruments, all of which seem to display some special offensive power. They also have either an alternative form or a variety of abilities for different situations a Spirit may face.

   In order for a Spirit to call upon an Angel's power, the Spirit must transform into their Astral Dress and unleash their Spirit power.

   Entry settings

   Spirits are extraordinary beings from a different dimension. Through their own will or not, it is unknown, but each time they come through to this world, they create a Spacequake that is similar to a bomb explosion which destroys everything that it engulfs.

   Besides Mio and Tohka, the other Spirits were originally humans who bonded with gems called Sephira Crystals, which turned them into Spirits. Some of them received one from Phantom under the promise that it would grant their wish. Spirits are a secret to the public, who take shelter during the Spacequakes they cause.

7. #7Anti-Spirit Team

   Entry settings

   A special unit within the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force designed to suppress and eliminate the Spirits, by means of killing them. Every AST member has a Combat Realizer Unit (CR-Unit) and Combat Wiring Suit as standard equipment. Currently, it is shown that the AST is made purely out of females and for the most part, teenage girls.

   Zafkiel is an S-ranked Angel that takes the form of a large clock with Roman numerals, accompanied by an archaic pistol and musket that serve as its hour and minute hands respectively.

   Through a combination of using time, shadows, and Spirit Power as fuel, Kurumi can manipulate time through her bullets. Her flintlock pistol and musket both possess special bullets that can cause different effects on the subject's time depending on the number of the bullet.

   To activate any power she needs, she first needs to call her Angel (regardless of whether the Angel has been summoned already or not) and position her flintlock at the number of the bullet on the Angel, in which the power is loaded from the number into her firearm. Next, she fires that loaded gun at her target; if Kurumi intends to use the effect on herself, then she shoots herself. The bullets take effect the instant they connect with their target, and they do not cause injury despite appearing no different from the bullets used offensively

   Zafkiel's Abilities:

   1. Aleph: Accelerates external time on its target. Kurumi frequently uses this bullet to increase her own speed in battle.
   2. Bet: Slows down the external time on its target.
   3. Dalet: Rewinds time on a target. However, despite restoring physical injuries, it cannot resurrect those who are already dead.
   4. Zayin: Temporarily freezes the target's time.
   5. Het: Creates a temporal clone of the target.
   6. Yud: Peeks into the past of any object struck.
   7. Yud Aleph: Sends its target to the future.
   8. Yud Bet: Sends its target to the past.

   Combined with the power of the Eighth bullet, Kurumi can create a clone that has all her experiences, memories, and abilities; they use her guns, summon and dismiss Spacequakes at will, and even summon the City of Devouring Time.

   Using the powers of Zafkiel drains Kurumi's life force.
