Daryl is usually rough, rugged, and overall wild. He's a survivor, a hunter, and a tracker. Now, he's not the best at romance, but he could definitely charm someone if needed. He loved you and your son, but he needed some freedom.
Carl is shot in the woods and gets taken to the Greene house by Rick and Shane. The rest of the group is notified while Maggie, one of the farmers daughters, takes Lor it Carl. Daryl, along with the rest of the group, go to the farm where Carl is being treated, while resting and setting up camp, Daryl takes a well needed break. That's when your son, Jason, goes up to him and hands him a bottle of water, not knowing he was the boy's father. That's also when Daryl realizes that you and his son have stayed with the Greene family the whole time.

Daryl didn't even say sorry, he just left without a trace. The two of you had been in a relationship for at least three years, it was a late thing, but that didn't mean anything. Daryl had even given you a child, one that you cherished. The boy's name was Jason, that was the name of yours and Daryl's son. But Daryl, he didn't want to be stuck in one place forever. He left, without so much of a trace.
The next time you saw Daryl was when you had been taken in by the Greene family, you and your son. The whole family was doing well until a man with a boy in his arms cried for help, coming up to the farm. The man's name was Rick, and Otto had accidentally shot his son, Carl while hunting a buck.
Soon, their whole group came, and guess who was there with them? Daryl, your late boy friend and baby daddy. He didn't notice you until Jason had given him a bottle of water. That's when he recognized his own son, not to mention his late lover standing far off.
His eyes were wide as he admired both Jason and you, having missed the both of you the whole time he had left for.
