Darth Nihl was a Nagai from Nagi in the Unknown Regions, where he ruled as a warlord and used his Force sensitivity to lead marauders before Darth Krayt found him. Krayt brought him into the One Sith, trained him as a Sith Lord, and made him his Fist, the military commander of the order. Around 130 ABY, after Krayt’s previous Hand died during the war, Nihl was promoted to Hand of the Dark Lord because Darth Talon was not yet ready for the role.

Nihl’s first major act as Hand came during the assault on the Jedi Praxeum on Ossus. He killed Jedi Master Kol Skywalker and mortally wounded Wolf Sazen, helping break the Jedi presence there before returning to Coruscant for Krayt’s rise as Galactic Emperor. Years later, he fought during the hunt for Marasiah Fel on Vendaxa and became a personal enemy of Cade Skywalker, who wanted revenge for his father’s death. Nihl later helped capture Cade inside the Sith Temple, but when Cade escaped, Nihl lost his right arm in their duel and was stripped of his title as Hand.

After Krayt’s apparent death at Had Abbadon, Nihl worked near Darth Wyyrlok while trying to learn what had truly happened to the Dark Lord. He found Darth Talon on Korriban, where the resurrected Krayt revealed himself and brought both of them back into his service. Nihl then helped Krayt reclaim the Sith Temple from Wyyrlok’s loyalists and later commanded Krayt’s Sith troopers during the renewed war.

Appearance: Darth Nihl has pale gray-white skin and a tall, lean muscular build with long limbs, a narrow waist, and sharp sinewy definition through the arms and torso. He has long dark hair falling around his face in uneven strands, pointed ears, red eyes, dark markings around the eyes, and black tattoo-like striping across the face, chin, neck, and exposed body. His facial structure is angular and severe, with a long nose, sharp cheekbones, and a grim mouth marked by dark vertical lines.

He wears black and dark gray Sith armor with an organic, jagged shape. The chest piece is ribbed and layered, with red oval plates set down the front and spiked ridges along the upper torso. His shoulder armor is heavy and asymmetrical, with sharp outward spikes, rough dark metal plating, and worn edges. The arms are partly exposed, showing pale skin marked with dark vein-like patterns, while the forearms are wrapped in dark bands and fitted bracers. His hands are covered by dark gloves in some views, while the exposed fingers have a claw-like look in others.

His waist is covered by a dark belt with a red rectangular center plate, layered side sections, and hanging black skirt panels that fall in narrow strips around the legs. The lower outfit continues into black fitted leg coverings, tall dark boots, and wrapped shin sections. In the full armored figure views, the armor has bone-like white panels along the sides of the body and red chest accents beneath spiked shoulder plates.

Personality: Darth Nihl is cold, severe, and more soldier than schemer. He comes from a warlord’s background, and even among the One Sith he carries himself like a commander who expects obedience, results, and strength. He is loyal to Darth Krayt’s vision, but not blindly foolish; he questions Krayt’s obsession with Cade Skywalker and later tries to understand the truth behind Krayt’s disappearance rather than simply accepting what he is told. His patience after Krayt’s final defeat shows the same military discipline that defines him, because he chooses infiltration and survival over a wasteful last stand.

His relationships are shaped by rank, rivalry, and Sith obedience. Darth Krayt makes him first the Fist and then a Hand of the Dark Lord, placing Nihl among his most trusted enforcers until Cade defeats and maims him. Darth Talon becomes both a counterpart and rival, especially after she rises as another Hand and later becomes a suspect during the confusion around Krayt’s apparent death. Darth Wyyrlok uses Nihl as an advisor while concealing his own seizure of power, but Nihl ultimately returns to Krayt once the Dark Lord reveals himself. Cade Skywalker is his most personal enemy, because Nihl kills Cade’s father, Kol Skywalker, and later loses his arm to Cade during the escape from the Sith Temple.

Darth Nihl is a dangerous Sith warrior with strong command of the dark side and a long history of battlefield violence. He can use telekinesis, Force push, Force pull, Force choke, and Force lightning, with the lightning powerful enough to kill Kol Skywalker during the attack on Ossus. He is also able to tame a tuk’ata, showing control over dangerous Sith creatures as well as enemy soldiers.

His main weapon is a long-handle lightsaber, which he uses with a distinctive fighting style built around wide leverage, reach, and heavy rotational strikes. This makes him different from more standard Sith duelists, because his weapon lets him swing around his body with greater momentum and unusual angles. Nihl is skilled enough with it to defeat Jedi Masters such as Kol Skywalker and Wolf Sazen, though Cade Skywalker later overcomes him and takes his arm.

His equipment is centered on Sith war gear rather than subtle tools. He carries his long-handle red lightsaber and wears One Sith armor suited for battle, intimidation, and service as Darth Krayt’s enforcer. As Krayt’s Fist and later Hand, his greatest asset is not only his weapon, but his ability to command Sith forces and personally execute the Dark Lord’s will.
