Darth Malak

Darth Malak was a Human male who reigned as a Dark Lord of the Sith during the Jedi Civil War. Before turning to the dark side, he was known as Alek, a Jedi Knight of the Galactic Republic. Born on the Outer Rim world of Quelii, Alek escaped his war-torn homeworld during a Mandalorian assault. The Republic's immigration records mistakenly assigned him the surname "Quelii" after his village, and he was inducted into the Jedi Order where he trained in the ways of the Force. Known among his peers as "Squint" due to his stern appearance, he eventually rose to the rank of Jedi Knight.

During the Mandalorian Wars, Alek, alongside his closest friend Revan, defied the Jedi Council’s decree of non-intervention and led a breakaway faction of Jedi to aid the Republic. Their victories helped turn the tide of the war, with Alek gaining a reputation as a headstrong general known for charging headfirst into battle. During this time, he aided Zayne Carrick in exposing the corrupt Jedi Covenant and took the alias Malak to avoid an arrest warrant issued by the Council.

Alek and Revan's final battle in the war took place at Malachor V, a catastrophic event that ended the Mandalorian threat. Pursuing remnants of the Mandalorian forces into the Unknown Regions, the two Jedi encountered the Sith Emperor of the ancient Sith Empire and fell to the dark side, becoming Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Under the Sith Emperor’s orders, they searched for the Star Forge, a powerful Rakatan space station capable of generating massive fleets. Once it was found above Rakata Prime, Revan declared himself Dark Lord of the Sith, with Malak serving as his apprentice.

As warlords of a new Sith Empire, Revan and Malak launched the Jedi Civil War, determined to end the Jedi Order and the Republic. At one point during their conquest, Revan struck Malak with his lightsaber during an argument, severing his jaw and forcing him to wear a heavy metal prosthesis from that day forward. Eventually, Malak betrayed his master during a Republic ambush, ordering his ship to fire on Revan’s cruiser. Believing Revan to be dead, Malak assumed the title of Dark Lord and ruled with ruthless ambition, promoting the fallen Jedi Darth Bandon as his new apprentice.

In terms of power, Malak was a formidable Force user. He was capable of choking multiple individuals simultaneously and could cast enemies into Force Stasis or trap them in a whirlwind of energy. His combat style relied on enhanced speed, devastating leaps, and using the Force to suppress or shield against enemy powers. He could tap into his own pain and hatred to fuel his strength and ferocity, releasing amplified screams through the Force that rippled across the battlefield.

Malak could also use Dark Healing, draining life from others to regenerate himself. A master of Sith sorcery, he wielded Force lightning with devastating precision, especially during his torment of Bastila Shan aboard the Star Forge and his final duel with Revan. His command over the Star Forge was unmatched—he increased its output by 300%, directing its vast manufacturing and defensive systems with sheer willpower.

Appearance: During his time as the Dark Lord of the Sith, Malak wore a set of skin-tight, red-orange body armor that showed off his physique, draped in a half-cape of black cloth, and employed a self-built lightsaber that produced a red blade longer than those of standard lightsabers. Malak also possessed a powerful Sith sword recovered from Korriban, although he rarely used it in combat. Malak later adopted a large metal shield that covered his face from his upper lip down, to protect a lightsaber injury that completely severed his lower jaw—a wound that had been inflicted by his Sith Master, Darth Revan. A vocabulator allowed Malak to talk, but his voice reverberated with a gruff electronic tone, creating a disconcerting effect since his cybernetic jaw did not move.
